I've been going a little stir-crazy waiting for season 5 of The Magnus Archives, so I made a map of every location where a statement took place/something ~spooky~ happened. You can toggle by season, and each location is color-coded by entity. Some of them are approximate locations (Point Nemo) or just cities (Toulouse), but I've been as accurate as possible. Please let me know if there's anything I've missed. Peruse at your leisure and enjoy!

there's this thing malcolm does in his interactions with edgar where like. it's this method of interaction that people will often do to you if they perceive you as shy, where they will periodically address you in such a way as to intentionally elicit reactions or commentary out of you. sometimes malcolm is trying to get him to smile or laugh, so he'll tease; other times he will just ask an easy question about the matter at hand to edgar directly.

i think like unlike most times you see a more outgoing person doing this to a fairly introverted one (see: sean teasing jean) malcolm is not actually trying to tease edgar out of his shell. he's more like, checking in; not in the sense of "hey man are you okay you've been quiet", because like edgar IS quiet and that's fine, he's vibing. but it IS the kind of check in where if you miss three of them your ass gets Rescued. like what malcolm's done is taken it upon himself to frequently check for the yes rather than waiting for a no.

Rewatching Buffy and I forgot that they introduced Xander by having him zooming along on his skateboard. I’m trying to remember, but I think we literally never see him on a skateboard ever again? Which is not great from a character introduction standpoint, but buying a skateboard and messing around on it for like a day before shoving it into a corner of the garage never to be seen again does feel very 90’s core.

For every claim about Pagan survivals in European / North American folk traditions and holidays, it's important to remember that there are at least three layers of cruft on top:

  1. Sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Protestants trying to discredit Catholicism by claiming that it was secretly Pagan
  2. Nineteenth-century Romanticists and Nationalists trying to construct an "authentic" volkisch identity by connecting everything to a remote pre-Christian (pre-Jewish) antiquity, and
  3. Contemporary Neopagans and New Agers who want to maintain these traditions.

Hello! And Welcome to Taskmaster! Please welcome our five contestants! And next to me, a man who once told me in confidence that his wife has filled his house with chintz. To keep it real I fuck him on the floor. It's little Alex Horne!

Rewatching through EXU Calamity and I just want to give big props to Marisha and Aabria for going so hard on the “rip to that other guy but I’m different” vibes that the Age of Arcanum was overflowing with.

The ladies find a letter written in plain and simple language that essentially says “Wizards can’t be trusted with knowledge because they’re too ambitious so I won’t tell you what the tree does” and immediately went “well maybe not those ambitious wizards but we’re totally different ambitious wizards who definitely know what we’re doing and are so much better and cooler that we’ll definitely be able to handle what we find!”

The arrogance, the drama, the self-centered hubris of it all—god I wish we had more time with these two ego-maniacs!

Every time I hit that specific line I have to stop and stomp around a bit because god! God! Yeah, that’s all that separates the two of you—never mind the fact that both those girls were already capable of traveling to other planes if they wanted to! Nooo, being able to travel through dimensions is the true power of the gods, not the fact that their very presence causes the very nature of earth and nature to bend and twist and flower and bloom and rot and immolate and become something completely alien and bizarre—no it’s the planar travel bit morons!!

Yes yes little hubris machines — but also it wasn’t planar travel in general, it was (for Laerryn, at least) one plane. One plane barred from mortal egress. One plane where she believed Evandrin went that she could not follow, from which she could not fetch him. One place that would someday steal Quay from her, or vice versa.

The Gau Drashari bend the land to their will and wisdom, and all other forces the mages of this time wield according to their whim. The difference is one of scale, but a lesser god is still a god.

The only thing that separates the greatest mages in the greatest age of mages from the beings that created them is the flaw of mortality. One realm all who walk Exandria are doomed to traverse forever one day.

Unless. Unless you risk everything to make one new road. A way in to the final planes as well as all others. A way OUT. For everyone. For anyone.

And if death itself could be thwarted, what heights might be reached with time and perseverance?

“women love inherently different from men…oh but btw trans women are still women and included in this!!:)))” you are still boxing people into 2 distinct immutable categories

you seriously limit yourself when you claim that women and men are inherently different in the way we love, the way we fuck, the way we appreciate the world. there will always be people who defy the binary, always people who didn’t have the “typical” youth of their assigned gender. what do you say to people who feel like both, to trans people who can’t completely reject the gender they’ve lived previously? to the genderqueer and the genderfluid? have you considered that the effort to make gender more nuanced isn’t to claim that trans people are still like their agab, but because those experiences as our agab still mean a lot to some of us? you are so quick to shoo in trans folks into gender essentialism that you forget we have lived our whole lives with an ill-fitting gender suit, and casually throwing us into another category does not erase the liminality we feel. i can’t speak for everyone, but i know a lot of people feel this way.

did my love for women, as a bisexual, inherently change when i realized i was trans? is it different when one day i feel like a woman and another a man? is my love for men lesser than what i feel for woman? why do you limit yourself like this?????

I want to hear Buck say “My boyfriend’s a pilot” so bad. Just picture it. He’s on a call and he rambles about winds for two minutes and the victim asks “how do you know all that?” and he stops and goes “my…uhm…my boyfriend’s a pilot” and then he does that thing where he ducks his head and smiles to himself because he can’t believe he just said that.
