[2018.12.27] Touken Ranbu: The Movie Screening Event Highlights Part 2

- When asked on his thoughts on the filming of the first ever Touken Ranbu movie, Hiroki said that there’s already been so many adaptations of Touken Ranbu that he for a moment forgot that it hadn’t been made into a movie yet. He was also surprised that they let actors from the stage play be the actors in the movie too, and hopes that their experience from the stage play would be reflected in the film.
- When it was Mackey’s turn to answer this question, he first answered: Mackey: …What he said. Wada: You can’t just end it there!
- Hiroki talked about how in the stage play both the actors and the audience had to imagine there were in a certain location, but in the movie, the set was all around them. Thanks to this, they experienced a lot of new things. Hiroki: Like how hard it is to fight on gravel road. Mackey: You’d trip [if you aren’t careful]. Hiroki: The sand was incredible.
- When asked about other hardships, Hiroki shared how he experienced how hard it was fight using a tachi indoors. Tachi are quite long so they’re hard to use in small spaces. “…And the Time Retrograde Army just kept on charging at me in spite of that…”
- Mackey mostly had outdoor scenes, and felt it was hard to attack in coordination with someone else.
- When it was Iwanaga’s turn to answer the question, he first said that the shoot was tough for everyone, but then went on to say: Iwanaga: They made me wait for 10 hours on my first day…. Wada: Don’t tell them that! Mackey: Your choice of words. XD
