Here I kinda shamelessly plagiarized this moodboard a little bit
the one true buff bae
She wasn’t sure how long she had been standing at the door, just staring at it. She had been completely unable to knock at first, too many thoughts running through her head. Even as she set the gift basket ( full of flowers and hand made treats just for Liese ) down, she still couldn’t find the courage inside of her just to simply knock. She was distressed and upset still, but not because of Liese. It was because she was stupid. She was always so stupid. How could she let such a small thing get in the way of what was important?
Well, she wouldn’t let that happen anymore. She would resolve this. If Liese didn’t want to come to her, she would go to Liese. And with that in mind, she finally found the courage to knock on the door. The first knock was too soft, she knew Liese wouldn’t have heard her. So she knocked a second time, this time it sounded more like pounding. She couldn’t even get knocking right her nerves were so bad. Regardless, she sighed, picking her basket back up off the ground.
Gitta hadn’t quite thought about what she would say to Liese when she saw her again. Admittedly, this was the longest they had gone without talking in quite sometime. It was hard functioning without her best friend in her life. She missed her more than she could begin to admit. She knew she couldn’t leave things like they were either. She couldn’t forget.
Not like she did with everything else.
So she straightened her back, prepared to face whatever consequences may come with her actions. If Liese was mad, then that was fine. She had every right to be angry with her. However, if she could forgive her… If they could start again, Gitta would be content. That’s all she needed. One chance for Liese to forgive her so she could explain herself.
And the second the door finally opened…
It all came flooding out.
“ Liese! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean what I said! I thought you were second guessing how I felt about you and I got mad. I just thought you didn’t believe me. Regardless of whether you do or not, I still want you in my life! Even if it’s just as a friend and we never have to kiss ever again! The truth is, I can’t stand to be without you. So, please, accept my apology so we can be friends again! ”
And with that, she shoved the basket in the woman’s face. So much for waiting to explain herself.
@biegenalsbrechenHAPPY PRIDE MONTH LMAO
Whatever she had expected on the other side of the door, it hadn’t been her. She had been so sure by now that Gitta wouldn’t, and would be right to, not approach her on friendly terms any time soon, that Liese had made up her mind to take the plunge instead ---- but once again Gitta pulled the rug from under her.
She stood dumbstruck, mouth agape and eyes uncomprehending as she desperately tried to take in the torrent. The words she was hearing were already unbelievable, something she’d only dreamt of as some fantasy out of reach ---- but what really punched the air out of her was Margherita stressing that she wanted her back, even as a friend. While the greater implications of everything else hovered like fireflies around them, it was this one simple thing that grounded her. A lightness spread through her, soothing tensions and letting a fragile smile unfold; and it was that surprising sense of ease that, when Liese found herself with a basket in her arms, somehow pulled a laugh from her. Nothing but a quiet chuckle, but truly genuine. Wetting chapped lips, Liese looked over Gitta’s face, searching it now in a way she hadn’t dared to before, warmth blossoming inside her chest.
“ You don’t have to apologize. ” In her mind, Gitta had had every right to do and react as she had. More importantly, she had to reassure her before going further. Be clear. Gilbert’s advice echoed in the back of her mind as it had every hour the last weeks. “ I ... have to apologize too. For a lot. More than what happened, uh ---- the, the kiss. Which was nice, by the way. ” Sincere throughout, her severe tone stuttered and shifted, ending with an upward twist to her lips and a careful glance at her friend. Right, that. She adjusted the basket in her arms, hugging it close. “ We are friends. If you still want to then nothing could change that, Gitta. ”
Liese felt her throat start to close up; it was almost too much already, and though she’d have to push on she figured they’d both do good with a brief breather. Stepping back into the hallway, she leant against the wall to give Gitta room. “ Come inside, I have coffee if you want and we can ---- oh my God. ” The last no more than a whisper, Liese’s eyes had finally fallen on the contents of the basket. The sight of red roses stopped her thoughts in their tracks, within moments sending blood rushing to her head and beating steadily in her ears. Even though a large part of her wanted to linger there, to etch every richly red and gentle petal into her memory, she forced her gaze aside for now, only to have any hope of making it through this sensibly. And ---- oh. Lips drew in between teeth, biting lightly until she couldn’t keep her grin back any longer. Nussecken. “ Yes, yes, you’re forgiven, ” freeing one hand, Liese waved Gitta inside, “ now come inside, I have things to say and snacks to share. ”
That ease, she suspected, would be just as easily shaken, but for now she would take every bit of courage she could find.

- liese lives on a farm in hessen, germany, that she runs with the help of some neighbours and occasionally visiting family members - she has sheep and cows and one or two horses ( and of course three dogs ). - in the 80′s liese revisited her medical studies but instead of continuing on with nursing, she shifted course and studied to become a veterinary instead. - today she works as a veterinarian primarily for livestock, usually visiting the respective farms in person, though she can also be found at the veterinary office from time to time. - she also has two flats, one in hamburg and one in berlin, which she usually rents out or lets her siblings stay in while she’s away.

The words didn’t seem to comfort her much, and Gilbert wasn’t overly surprised by that. Frieda’s presence was probably more welcome than his own right now, but he didn’t care. “It sounds more cynical to you, I’m guessing,” he mused, shifting the hand Liese had dropped to gently ruffle Frieda’s fur, soft and warm. “But we don’t get to make the same choices as regular people, you know that. We can’t just cut someone out of our lives, just because we think they deserve better than us.”
Keeping his eyes fixed on Frieda, he continued, though part of him almost didn’t want to. “… And I think that’s a good thing, for a few reasons. For starters, it means we have no choice but to deal with our shit, in the end. Some people keep making mistakes they don’t learn from, messing up people’s lives and then dying without ever apologizing. It’s rotten. We generally don’t have that luxury.” He drew a long breath, sitting perfectly still. “We can’t just decide to never have anything to do with someone again, as long as that someone is one of us. And even if we could… I think it would be cowardly. It’s the easy way out when you don’t want to change into someone they do deserve to keep in their lives. If you want to make them an enemy instead, that’s fine and all, but they’re gonna keep existing alongside you whether you like it or not. Might as well make it clear what you want to be to them, before they decide something you don’t like first.”
Merely grunting at his initial remark, the bitter anger in her quickly drained away at the twist of his retaliation. Her eyes widened, breath shallow, released in a huff as her grip slackened from her neck and dropped to hang off her knees again. She chose to listen.
It was .... painful. And it was the truth. Of course it was, she had never known her brother to speak anything but. In this, as in so much else, he knew much more than her. Yet what he was saying was not new. It was something she had learnt again and again, although every time she wished she could be that cowardly creature to disappear and die instead of facing her faults and flaws. With no such choice, she had instead been steadfast in her promise to right her wrongs. That was why she knew, from the start, that she needed to apologize. She knew no other way.
Gilbert came around to his conclusion, and within was the point Liese had really been hiding from. Her face sank, looking much more like the small one at her feet than the person she prefered herself to be. “ I have thought about it, ” her throat closed up and she forced herself to swallow the old ache, “ and every time I then think, what if she doesn’t want it ? What if I’ve been reading into it wrong, and she’d never really ---- want me. ” The words felt strange, as if something she’d sooner read in a book than apply to herself. Additionally, they felt wrong because now they felt like an insult. Liese covered her face, fingers spread to let her eyes stare at the floor. “ .... I’ll have to believe in her. ”
