☆ Where his hands rest, she felt her skin warmed. Soft tendrils of spikes brushed over her cheek when he made rest on her shoulder. It wasn’t much height difference, and if pointed out he might get mad, but she found it more pleasant this way. Easier to look him in the eyes to tell if he’s hiding something. Or embarrassed. She continued drying dishes, running kitchen rag over them with care as she considered his words.

“I slept. For the most part… Does that mean you’ll be up with me getting the bar ready?”

Cloud nodded as he would kiss her cheek once more before going to get himself breakfast. “After i drop off Denzel and Marlene at school I’ll be back to help you clean up and then when it is time to open up I’ll give you a hand. Need me to grab anything at the store while I am out?” He asked as he looked back at the brawler.

Cloud smiled a bit as he would make his way behind the brawler and softly planted a few kisses on her neck.

☆ Dishes. Early in the morning, where the sun barely broke through clouds, she idly ran sponge through the water and poured soap atop. Lathered in circles, dried by the rack, Tifa found busy work throughout the day if she could. It helped take her mind off things too.

Fingers curled in lukewarm water when she shut it off. Even then, she had grown aware of his rummaging about upstairs by the creak of floorboards. Sometimes pacing had to happen early in the morning or late in the evening, Gods knew she had to do it in the beginning too, when civilian life had started in Edge. Best to carry on, rather than harp on it. Her hands buried into the towel when he made his presence known, pecks along exposed neck as casual as saying hello.

         “—Oh! Hello… To you too.”

Was he trying to make this normal, too?

He chuckled a bit as he would wrap his arms gently around her waist, placing his chin on her shoulder. “Have you been up long or have you not slept?” He asked as he watched Tifa do the dishes, letting out a minor yawn. “And I figured I might try to change up our usual morning greetings a bit. Felt this way it would be a bit more fun and exciting,” He said with a playful smile.

The SOLDIER, well, now ex what with the fall of ShinRa stared quietly from her spot on the hill. She would never fight for them again that was for sure. Not after what they did to her friends. The only one left now was Cloud, she had kept a careful distance from him, not because she blamed him, no she blamed herself. She didn’t want to see him hurt.

She placed the flowers in her hand down, if she had been earlier maybe Zack would be alive. Maybe Cloud wouldn’t be so sad. She sat, crossing her legs and placed her Blazefire Saber next to her. Zack was probably watching over them all, laughing at her. Cloud probably didn’t even know if she was alive, she would prefer to keep it that way.

‘Lightning, SOLDIER Class 1, scared of visiting a man who didn’t even make it to SOLIDER at all.’ With the stupid grin. She would punch him, hard probably knocking him back. Maybe bringing him to his knees, if she was lucky. Stupid puppy.

❛ ❛ Later, Zack, make sure Cloud doesn’t do something dumb for me.❜ ❜ She stood dusting her black pants off, she still wore her uniform, she just couldn’t bring herself to throw it away. Sliding her gunblade into it’s holster she walked towards the Midgar Slums. She tossed a wave over her shoulder towards her fallen comrade. She had been wondering, mostly, but a visit to Aerith was long since overdue.

It wasn’t long before she was shouldering the entrance to the church open and smiled faintly at the flowers carefully crouching on the floorboards a few inches away from them. The garden had grown quite a bit, it was a uplifting sight. Aerith did not appear to be here so Lightning assumed she was selling her flowers. She sat down fully and watched the flowers sway in the slight breeze, it was relaxing here, safe and warm. Maybe she would stay for a bit, Aerith usually didn’t mind.

Cloud would enter the church not to long after Lightning had sat down. It was still early so it surprised him to see someone else in the building besides him. “I see you like them. Wait till they are in full bloom.” He called out, not yet recognizing the woman as he went to start tending to not only the plants but the sword he left as a monument as well. “Sorry if it gets cold in here. The plants like the sun light so I never patched up the roof. Helps them grow even if it lets in a strong breeze or two.”

After a bit Cloud would stand up, wiping some sweat from his brow as he turned to face the woman. “You seem to be new here. Always surprising to see new faces in this place.” He said with a small smile. “As long as you don’t plan to cause any trouble then you are free to stay as long as you want....Just be careful around the flowers...They have been through a lot.” He said as he rubbed the back of his head, remembering when he fell through the roof.

Cloud nodded as he freed up a hand to grab onto hers gently. “While I hope we don’t run into trouble, if something does happen don’t worry about me. I know how to fight and will have your back.”

"Hello, Cloud".

Cloud smiled softly as he waved at Cren. “It has been a while. Come to have a rest at the bar and escape the cold?”

He nodded as he looked over at the kitchen, thinking about how the two children were probably playing with each other. “Sometimes I worry about them. They look up to me and Tifa as role models but I never see myself as a person who should be emulated....Especially Denzel....Still there is nothing I wouldn’t do to keep them, Tifa and my friends safe.”

“You need to rest.”

Bartz slowly heard Cloud’s voice telling him that he needed rest but the Mimic Warrior was one stubborn hero for not taking things slow and steady at times as he slowly spoke to the Ex-Solder.

“I-It’s alright Cloud, no need to worry. I’ll be alright—urghh.. see?”

Cloud nodded as he ruffled the younger male’s head a little. “Take it from me, I know what it is like to get sick and want to keep working or doing whatever you need or want to. But the longer you take to rest the longer you stay sick and the more you worry those that care about you.”

Once he had rinsed his mouth he would walk over to Tifa. “I am going to drop the kids off real quick. Need me to stop by the store for anything?” He asked as he made sure his phone was in his pocket and charged. “If not I should be home right away.” The blonde male would then make sure to grab the two children’s backpack so they would not be forgotten.

She had placed a hand against her forehead, feeling a massive headache coming on, but she had ignored it so she wouldn’t worry Cloud about the pain. “I.. don’t think I need anything from the store but.. thanks for asking anyways.” Tifa said as she had sat against the wall and gave a smile she could muster at the moment. Seeing him taking the phone with him, she could always give him a call if she ever.. ran into trouble.

Cloud nodded as he brought Denzel and Marlene over so they could say goodbye to Tifa before he would take them to school. He felt lucky that he had been able to drop them off a bit early and stopped off at the store, grabbing himself and Tifa a few sweets as it had been a while since he indulged himself. While he got the sweets he would check his phone to make sure he would be back in time so he wouldn’t worry the brawler.

Cloud shot Vi a soft smile as he would carry the groceries with the pink haired officer. “While I cook we can talk and get to know each other a little if you want. I am sure you must have questions for me and I can probably think of a few for you.”

Vi once again blushed, she never felt like this before, truly this stranger was something else. “I–I would love to. You seem like an interesting guy, with a lot to tell” she returned the smile, her coold steel blue eyes locking with his vibrant blue eyes

He nodded as his mako infused eyes would meet with her own, a very slight blush on his face before looking away. “I would imagine you have a few interesting stories yourself.”

“Yes, I am grateful for it. I may not have my parents, but it is better than having no family at all, in my opinion”, she stated. She blushed faintly from the back rubs, but took it as a friendly gesture and paid no mind to it. “…what about your mother…?”.

He nodded as he drank some of his water. “Mom was....Overprotective....She raised me by herself and often worried about me. When I went off to join SOLDIER, she would right to me every day and when I visited she fussed over me. She wanted me to settle down with someone who would take care of me....Then Sephiroth attacked...”

Cloud would come down while carrying the two tired children, them not wanting to wake up though they had to. Once he was in the kitchen he would place them in their chairs and smiled as he watched them eat before sitting down and eating as well.

As she began to eat her breakfast, Tifa had picked up a utensil; one being a fork and the other being a knife to cut with. Just from the scent of the food that was put in front of her face, it had smelled quite delicious and taking that first bite, it was right. Seeing that had Cloud entered with the two tired children in his arms, it was kind of.. well.. cute. Not like something she would admit, frankly. Not out loud honestly. Having seeing them slow wake up, the woman had greeted them with a smile and a wave that slowly followed.

Soon Cloud would finish his breakfast, putting his dish away as he drank some water. It was nice for him to enjoy breakfast with his family in a peaceful setting. Once the children had finished he would get them to brush their teeth, brushing with them as well. As he brushed his teeth he would smile over at Tifa and waved a little.
