Shiny slippery slithering friends, oh my! I had a fun time sketching amphibians with ink and my new finetec metallic pigments yesterday! Ended up playing with a little salamander-as-dragon design. Salamandragon? I love all amphibians, but there's just a special place in my heart for the caudata fam 💖 . 💚Hello lovely friendos, I'm back!💚 . I'm clinging onto this account just like my little hand sculpted earring😅 It's one of my favourite pokemon, a larvitar! I made it a few weeks ago and have worn it almost everyday since 💚💖💚 . Feels like it's been forever since we last had a catch up, and yikes friendos, I heckin missed you! I promise I've been good and kept up with my physio exercises - though I've still been drawing because apparently there is no stopping me 😂✏🖌 🎨 I've been going to life drawing in Thornbury on Sundays, and doing a few sketches here and there - overall, I'd say it's been a 70% reduction to my art time. . This has allowed the inflammation to calm down a bit and I'm starting to see some results from the strength exercises! I won't be updating every day anymore as I do need that downtime for my injury to heal, but perhaps 2-3 times a week as it's important to not let my hand weaken. It does need to keep doing the usual things it do, just in moderation and paying particular attention to not let my wrist and digits... err, 'floop' around and go where they shouldn't! Easier said than done 😫😫😫 . There's been one other unexpected benefit to taking an instagram break: . It's given me back a bit of creative pep! I was feeling pressured before to squeeze out a painting every day, which did wonders for my speed and consistency -- but kind of sapped my strength for pursuing bigger projects and more personally meaningful pieces. It made me feel as if I couldn't afford to take experimental risks, sketch messily and make mistakes because I would have to reliably make something nice every day. I'm seeing a physio now for my hands, although it seems like I'm going to have to manage my injuries for life as they're caused by hypermobility.
