I'm putting levity here where I have none. 

This "GamerGate" started when an ex spouted details about his girlfriend cheating on him (not great for sure).  Since then, that person has been threatened, driven from her home (along with other people that shown any support/spoken out), and under constant harassment since August.

If you have grievances with how games journalism is, then take it up with EA, Activision, WB, Kotaku, Joystiq, Polygon, etc.  Don't just sit behind your computer astroturfing companies to pull support, or trying to convince game companies that "X shouldn't cover your games anymore cuz they said things I don't like".  How is attacking individual doing ANYTHING but undermining you every step of the way?  You argue your point is being censored, so ...scaring others into not speaking is the right response?

In short, NEVER bring up this topic to me ever expecting sympathy.  GamerGate was founded by airing out dirty laundry for all to see, and was picked up by someone who used this as a "cause" right alongside comparing gay marriage to incest & arguing for anti-vaccination (don't believe me, go look it up).  Even comedians have made more sense on this topic than most (now think about that for a sec).

All I know is, I have NO respect for anyone who thinks harassment is ok.  I have NO respect for people who think that this is a just cause.  And more importantly, thank you.  Thank you for taking the social position gamers had (aka it was "kinda cool") and setting that back a few years.

I could go on, but all I need to say is this.  I know how this began.  I didn't speak out because it wasn't about ethics in journalism, it was about breaking down who someone had relations with. 

I fuckin' hate people.
