Headcanons list!

Grillby would normally prefer to rise with the sun, and sleep whenever it was time to sleep. However, being stuck underground, he doesn’t have that external, natural clock anymore. Now his rhythm is set to the bar’s opening and closing. Unless he has a project to work on, he usually goes to bed not too long after the bar closes.

The scientist walked into the small bar with a stack of papers under his arm, the blackened pads of his fingers pressing hard to his temple and rubbing. He had needed to get out of the lab for a while, and he remembered his roommate saying something about the bar in the town he might like, if he ever decided to get out of the lab that is.

Sans moved up to the bar and settled on one of the stools, slapping the file down on the bar and pressing the pads of his thumbs to his temples, closing his eyes.

*Uhh, sure, yeah. Let’s go with that. Side of fries.

He said, barely glancing up at the fire monster before reaching into one of the pockets on the side of his coat to grab a pen. Around his neck, Cober stirred, lifting his head and flicking a tongue, then bumping his nose against the monster’s cheek.

*Oh and uhh, just a plain patty for Cober here, if you don’t have anything else. Cob, what pocket did I put my pen in again?

The snake stuck its head into his breast pocket and came back out with the pen in it mouth. The skeleton monster took it and stroked his head with his free hand as he flicked open the file to grab the paper on the top.

“Side of fries and a plain patty. Coming right up.” Oh, a snake. He hadn’t seen one of those... In quite some time. Not since the surface. Grillby had always associated the lack of pets in the Underground with an inability for many species to thrive under the various ecological conditions. And the lack of sunlight.

Heading into the kitchens, Grillby mulled over the memory of the last snake he’d encountered. It’d slithered into the barracks of the King’s army one night, and ended up curling around the leg of some poor fuck for warmth. The monster hadn’t noticed until he’d gone to get dressed. It caused quite a stir, and had been the troop’s mascot for a while. Good times.

As soon as the food was ready, he brought it out to his newest customer. A plate full of fries and burger, and another with a warm, juicy patty. “Cheeseburger Royale with fries, and a patty for the snake. Enjoy!”

Fire and Ice

The scientist’s breath huffed in a steamy cloud before him as he walked. His bare feet crunched through the snow, making no effort to stay on the surface like he knew he could. The crystals burned against his skin, tingling numbly.

He didn’t mind, the cold that is. It was the fact that he was forced out of his lab in the first place that irritated him. Another breath steamed the air before him as his claws scratched on ice, wandering along the outskirts of Snowdin, where the edge of the cleared area gave way to rough forest. It was familiar, reminding him of the area he grew up in.

After a moment, he stopped and sighed heavily. The labcoat came off, the tail of it twisted up into a roll that could be tied around his waist without it trailing. Gaster took two steps forward, stretching his legs out behind him before letting them settle in a more comfortable position. His lower back cracked as he let himself drop down to all fours and spring off, weaving through the trees and stretching out his muscles. Hey, no one was around to see him act like a youngster, so why not?

Grillby had chosen Snowdin as a home for several reasons. And not just because of the humorous name.

The cold of the area kept his fire in check. It also kept the bar comfortable for people to be around him, which brought in more customers. The low population meant that he didn’t have to deal with crowds, and the people were quite friendly.

Aside from that, it was the forest that Grillby really enjoyed. Being made of fire, he needed to ‘consume’ flammable things in order to fuel himself. And the trees of Snowdin were quite delicious. Something about the nutrients in the soil gave them an extra tang of flavor that the bartender enjoyed. They weren’t as good as a lot of trees he’d tasted on the surface, but they were much better than the water-filled plants of Waterfall.

Axe over his shoulder, Grillby had been trekking through the woods when he spotted movement. Someone on four legs.. They were going pretty fast. Were they being chased? Crouching down, Grillby moves to follow the stranger.

Since it was Easter, DOS was wearing black and white clothing and kneeling on the floor, praying silently. What a good little Purtian skele.

Grillby didn’t understand why the younger monster was praying, but he placed an egg in front of him. It was decorated in painstakingly small geometric patterns, blue and gold and green.

The egg wasn't actually cooked when the Easter G painted it, but Eras found it and had decided to take a nap on it. So now it was cooked. They will likely be found in the shelf behind the bar, the small spark cuddling an orange egg with cheesy red hearts all over it.

Grillby had found the egg while searching for Eras. There was a smile on the elementals’ face as he carefully lifted the egg and his offspring. There was only one who’d be crafty enough to sneak something behind the bar.

Sass Starters!

“It’s a real shame nobody asked for your opinion.”

“Excuse you?”

“I could do that, but “could” doesn’t mean would.”

“You cannot fathom the immensity of the fuck I don’t give.”

“You’re like, five feet tall. How you gonna reach me, shortie?”

“Let me tell you exactly where in hell you can go.”

“Fill a cup with your tears so I can drink them. Gotta keep hydrated.”

“I’m sorry, was I talking to you? The answer is no.”

“You couldn’t train a rock, much less a pet.”

“You couldn’t land a hit on a mountain.”

“Isn’t it past your bedtime, brat?”

Someone had actually gone through the trouble of decorating a bottle of ketchup just for him? “Aw Grillbz. Are you the one behind this?” he teased, taking the bottle and opening it immediately.

Image

“You got me. I ordered one special for you- just a bit bigger than the other bottles here. But it the difference wasn’t enough to make it stand out, so I... Practiced my handwriting on it. Hope you enjoy.”
