To the person who made this image: thank you for reminding us that Palestinians are disposable to you, that we are not worth fighting for. That we are the world's scapegoats, that murdering us is a bipartisan duty, that when it comes down to it we can only rely on each other. Thank you for reminding us that to the average American we are only as much worth as the ash left from our bodies when we are killed by your bombs.

Thank you for reminding us why America and its empire needs to cease existing instantly, and why people like you deserve whatever brutalities you suffer under the thumb of the fascism you thought would benefit you.

so last night i rewatched “the gang saves the day” with what-are-frogs and we noticed some….. interesting things about dennis

the absence of dee from dennis’s fantasy is sort of something you brush off at first because the other guys aren’t a huge part of it either, it seems like the focus is supposed to be solely on himself and jackie denardo, but there’s a dee-shaped hole in the gang at the hospital when frank+mac+charlie watch dennis wake up, and that hole is almost instantly filled by jackie showing up

jackie is an attractive blonde woman whom dennis considers both unattainable and (foolishly, comically) the love of his life. dee is also an attractive blonde woman who is unattainable to dennis because she’s, well, his sister, but dee is also (subtextually, undeniably) the actual love of his life. do you see where i’m going with this?

if we read jackie (or the super one-dimensional portrait of jackie painted by dennis’s psyche) as a stand-in for dee herself, then this is essentially the message of dennis’s fantasy:

dennis, who has never had any sort of nurturing or loving parental figure in his life save a brief appearance by his biological father, wants to be absolutely shattered, plummeted to his lowest possible physical and emotional state, and then be nursed back to health by someone who will care for him and support him unconditionally. he recognizes a desire for complete dependency on that person, and so he fantasizes that it’s her job as a physical therapist to take care of him to that extent and therefore entirely socially acceptable for her to do so. furthermore, him ~*falling in love*~ with her is also considerably more socially acceptable than it would be were that person his twin sister

after this progresses for a while and dennis gets to a point where he could almost disentangle himself from the relationship if he wanted to, the tables turn and SHE becomes completely dependent on him. this is a dual fantasy for dennis - not only is dee (or this idealized representation of dee) in utter, total need of his existence, he also holds another human’s life in his hands and has the power to exact judgement and take that life away, feeding both his dee obsession and his god complex at the same time

tl;dr dennis basically takes his entire relationship with dee and spins it into something he deems more “okay” for him to be feeling, gives himself a happy ending (by dennis standards - dee can literally never leave his side, he gets to play god and decide when to take life away), and comes out of it bewildered but nodding and smiling. and in the end, he does get off.

additional stuff: dennis wants to have this near-death experience, have his whole life flash before his eyes and brush shoulders with death without actually having to succumb to it. maybe you could read some kind of jesus-rising-from-hell-ascending-into-heaven symbolism into his miraculous recovery and transformation into someone with psychological peace + ultimate power. maybe. idk. also, “walking on sunshine” is definitely an american psycho reference and you will never convince me otherwise

the authors of the report were deliberately chosen to have no lived experience with trans healthcare

the report considers figuring out "why" people become trans to be equally important as research into improving trans lives, and references the social contagion theory uncritically

the professionals surveyed by the study were allowed to self select (i.e. transphobic doctors would be extremely likely to jump at the chance to take part), and 32% of them stated that they do not believe a child can be trans

i understand the appeal of publishing "fic with the serial numbers filed off" as original work but i also feel like. what makes something a good fic is at odds with what makes something a good original story.

a good fic is in conversation with a source text, it may give a character an interesting role, it may reinterpret or subvert the rules established in the canon universe, whatever. but like. its transformative by nature. whereas original stories - good ones, anyway - have their own internal, non-referrential sense of logic and rules. it can be in conversation with the genre writ large but it has to have internal substance that can stand alone. which fic inherently cant do.

Even those who are supposed to be on our side, namely Stonewall UK and Mermaids, have picked up a shovel to help dig the mass grave for trans youth in the UK to be buried in

The labour party joined hands with the tories to agree that, yes, trans people are too dumb to know for sure if they're trans or not until they are TWENTY FIVE YEARS OLD. they have decided that any adult trans person under 25 is to be treated as a child when it comes to their own identity

Anyone who endorses the cass review has blood on their hands

“average person has a bad memory” factoid actually a statistical error. average person has a decent memory. Forgets Georg who lives in my brain and forgets over 10,000 things each day is an outlier and- wait where was I going with this. I forgot. anyway.
