This is not writing, but I found it fascinating.  For looking at (I find the German part to be the greatest thing ever), naming characters (you know who you are), and memorizing to impress people.

The fact that dark red means dunkelrot in German is very, very impressive to others.

I’m great at parties.

Meeting || Team BETA

Brycen felt slightly nervous after the team formation ceremony. He definitely had not expected to be the leader, and he knew that it was going to bring a lot of responsibilities and challenges, that he right now wasn’t that prepared for. He turned to his new team members and smiled, though it probably looked more awkward than anything.

“Hey,so, we should probably go check out our room and everything, right?” Brycen suggested quietly. “Then maybe get in a training session or something?”

"Oh please, I've been walking around all day, I could go for some R&R." Threcious jokingly rubbed the soles of his shoes in feign exhaustion.

He felt good about this team, and was looking forward to the next 4 years.

The First Day || Brycen & Threcious

“Like many others, I did forge Salutem. Heat detection isn’t my semblance, per say. I’m a pit viper Faunus, you see, and that shows up in ‘pits’ inside my nostrils. Hope that isn’t a turn off…” Threcious smiles jokingly a bit. He’s personally a bit proud of making Salutem

At the mentioning of Grimm, Threcious steps a little bit into cover. “Where? I’ll see if I can tell.” Threcious wasn’t particularly feeling like being taken off guards by a Grimm today if he could help it.

“That’s very good, in my opinion. I think if you don’t forge your own weapon, it’ll never truly be an extension of who you are, you know?” Brycen said with a small smile, before listening further. “I don’t discriminate! We’re all equal, and I think being a Faunus definitely has quite a bit of advantages in the way of combat. The ability to see heat signatures is fascinating,”

Brycen waited diligently for Threcious to observe the scene. Now knowing his abilities, Brycen was near certain that they would be able to make it through this without anymore fighting. But who knows? It is supposed to be a challenge after all… “See anything?” Brycen asked after a bit, curious if Threcious had been able to detect something.

"That's good to hear, and unfortunately yes." Threcious closes his eyes and flares his nostrils. "I've got a small pack of beowolves sorta around the fire. I'm not certain, but it's highly possible that whoever started the fire did so during a fight with said pack."

Opening his eyes again, Threcious shoulders Salutem. "At this distance, we probably could still get around them undetected, but it would require a lot of effort and a bit of luck. Alternatively, we could just fight them but risk drawing more Grimm towards us. Any preference?" Threcious was confident that ultimately either plan would end with them surviving, yet still was in want of a bit of outside perspective.

The First Day || Brycen & Threcious

Threcious recognizes Brycen’s movements. “Don’t worry, the only way they can really sneak up on us is if they’re faster than their body heat can spread out. Good idea to keep old Salutem ready, though.”

What Threcious was concerned about was the fire. If they passed too close to it, it could potentially screw with his senses. They’d be relying only on what they could see or hear, not what he particularly liked going through in a forest chock-full of dangerous predators. He quickly puts those thoughts out of his mind. Last thing they needed was his negativity bringing more Grimm down on them. He keeps pace with Brycen.

“Faster than their body heat? Is that your semblance? Seeig other’s body heat, I mean?” Brycen asked curiously, looking back at the guy who was going to be his teammate for the next four years. It would be good if they both knew as much about one another as possible, so they could become more in sync in the battlefield. “And your weapon is quite impressive, if I do say so myself. Did you forge it yourself?”

Brycen couldn’t imagine not having forged his own weapon. It was like forming a bond with the weapon. “Are we even going the right way?” He asked, sighing a little bit. “Something feels…off…” He stopped, looking around a bit “I think there might be a creature of Grimm nearby”

The First Day || Brycen & Threcious

“Yeah but we are first years. The real fun will start after this, I’m sure.” Threcious sees smoke in the distant forest. “Looks like someone decided to light things up a bit. Better steer clear of there, it’ll be hard to see if we go by it”

The smoke briefly calls Threcious back to his childhood in the Vacuo desert, where the hot temperatures and heatwaves off the sand made it extremely hard for him to pinpoint things, not to mention the sand got everywhere in his clothes. He grimaces for a second before turning back to Brycen. “Guess we gotta get back to the cliff, let’s go.”

“I’m sure you’re right,” Brycen nodded and readied his weapon again. He knew that finding the relic was only part of the challenge–they still had to make it back in preferably one piece. He nodded toward the smoke, and smirked lightly “Definitely. Let the others handle the Grimm, we will have a much clearer path to victory,” He knew it wasn’t the most honorable thing to say, but he really wanted to be one of the first teams to make it back. It was somewhat of a pride thing.

Brycen began to jog at a rather quick pace, when prompted by Threcious. There was certainly no need to dawdle. “Keep your weapon at the ready,” Brycen cautioned and quickened his pace a bit. He was eager to get out of here, but if the rumors about Beacon and Ozpin were true, there would likely be some kind of surprise or ambush. Nothing was ever this easy.

The First Day || Brycen & Threcious

Threcious calls back up “yeah, just trying to see if I can see something before we blindly rush in.” Threcious had yet to really be caught off guard by a Grimm attack and he personally didn’t want to start now.

When entering the clearing, Threcious turns on his feet a little while moving to get a good look of the area, even though it was basically just a clearing that went out a few yards from the ruin. “Eyes are always peeled.” His peeled eyes light up a little bit when he noticed the chess pieces. “Ooooh this is an interesting choice of relics. I don’t see anything wrong with it, sure it’s fine. Guess we just gotta pick a piece.”

“Right. No use fighting if we can somehow avoid it,” Brycen nodded, wondering if the other boy’s semblance had something to do with sight. He did seem to make that Grimm stop in its tracks with simply a look. If so, that would be incredibly useful in combat situations…Brycen was already thinking of potential combinations, mainly because he was a bit obsessed with them.

“Chess pieces…it’s almost like we’re playing a game,” Brycen chuckled and walked over to the pedestals “How about the gold bishop? Bishops are one of the best pieces in chess, if you ask me,” He attempted to rationalize. Brycen assumed that Threcious would watch his back as he went up to grab the piece, quickly swiping the gold bishop and moving back to Threcious. “That was disappointingly easy, don’t you think?”

The First Day || Brycen & Threcious

Threcious moves quicker through the trees but hangs back slightly, pausing every couple of seconds to get a heat signature fix on the situation.

Brycen noted that Threcious would slightly pause after every few moments, and he wondered if he were injured or something. “Are you alright/” He called out, looking back, but not stopping. Finding the relic was important, and unless one of them were seriously injured, they shouldn’t stop.

When they reached a clearing, Brycen looked around suspiciously. It seemed weird that there was a clearing like this in the middle of a forest. “Keep your eyes peeled,” He cautioned before moving carefully though the clearing. “Odd….” Brycen mumbled and motioned to the weird pedestals that had chess pieces on them. “Those have to be the relics, don’t they?” Brycen didn’t want to grab one…maybe this was some kind of trap or something “Do you think it’s safe?” He looked at Threcious again.

Threcious moves up again underneath the treetops. He catches a few flashes of black, seemingly from a Grimm, but can’t make out anything else. A look through his scope reveals nothing else.

“Nothing, just Grimm. Must be some more huntsmen or huntresses, but I’ll need to move closer to check.”

Brycen nodded “I feel like Ozpin is going to want us to go where the Grimm are. It would make sense that the relics would be placed in a difficult place,” He hummed to himself, thinking that this might be harder than he thought. “Alright. So let’s move toward the Grimm then,” He decided and jumped down from the tree.

He drew Argentum again, this time keeping it in the stiletto form. “We haven’t any time to lose! Especially if the Grimm are distracted by peers right now!” If they could move fast enough, they might be able to pull this off without having a big confrontation. Brycen began to sprint through the forest, trusting that Threcious would follow.

The First Day || Brycen & Threcious

“It does. If you use those wings of yours and get a birds eye view I can set up a sniping position in a nearby tree.” Threcious presses his back up against a tree and begins to move forward underneath the canopies from tree to tree

“Not a bad idea,” Brycen remarked, turning the dial on his sash, to the wind setting. He felt the badge on his back heat up–as it always does when he switches dust cartridges. He activated his semblance again, which probably wasn’t that good of an idea, as he was using his semblance too much today. Now infused with wind dust, his wings gave off a gentle green glow. He sent out a powerful gust of wind down word to propel himself into the air, so he could glide and survey their surroundings.

“Seems we should go west!” Brycen yelled down to Threcious, seeing what seemed to be some sort of commotion from that area. “I think that’s where some of our comrades are fighting. Must mean they’re going the right way,” He noted, landing on the tree branch. Brycen liked Threcious well enough, he seemed like he was about the mission too. That was a great quality in a team member. “You see anything useful?”

The First Day || Brycen & Threcious

Threciousrolls out of the way and locks eyes with the boarbatusk, activating his semblance. The boarbatusk sputters to a stop. With a spin, Salutem forms into its rifle form and He lines up his sights on the boarbatusk before blowing it’s head off.

“Thanks for the heads up.”

(I need to learn how to bold words on mobile lol)

Brycen was definitely surprised that Threcious was able to take down a boarbatusk in one hit. Maybe he would prove to be a formidable teammate. Brycen made sure to note that. He glided back to where Threcious stood and nodded approvingly. “That was quite impressive,” He remarked before landing on the ground and dissipating his wings.

Brycen began to walk again, this time staying next to Threcious, in case more Grimm decided to rear their ugly heads. Which seemed rather likely. Brycen began to quicken his pace, wanting to accomplish this quickly. “Which way do you think we sh–,” He was interrupted by a loud cry of what sounded like a large Grimm. “Hmm…that way sounds promising, doesn’t it?” He asked with a slight smirk.

The First Day || Brycen & Threcious

Threcious bows at his waist in an overdramatic fashion. “Threcious Grussel, at your service. And yes, the sooner we find the relic the sooner we can get out of here. Doubt a beowolf is the only thing in here, unless Ozpin was lying.”

I agree. Shall we?” Brycen didn’t wait for a response, instead deciding to walk. Standing in one place for too long wasn’t going to do any good, and the longer they stood still, the more likely they would be targeted by the Grimm. Brycen preferred to battle the Grimm head on, with no surprises. He was a very calculating person, and liked to measure out every aspect of his life.

Brycen turned back to make sure that Threcious was following him, not wanting to have to tell the boy to hurry up or anything. Unfortunately, he had failed to see the boarbatusk roll and charge him, hitting Brycen squarely in the side, and launching him in the air. Not used to being taken by surprise, Brycen panicked a bit and just barely managed to summon his wings before hitting a tree. “Look out!!!” Brycen yelled to Threcious.

The First Day || Brycen & Threcious

(It’s great lol) “Just little old me.” Threcious kicks out the already disintegrating body of a Beowulf from the shrubbery and coincidently locks eyes with the guy standing g there with the whip.

“Howdy partner”

Brycen looked over the person who would now be his partner. He seemed to be at least somewhat capable as he was able to take out a Beowulf, without any visible signs of fatigue. That was a plus. And what was more of a plus was that he wasn’t partnered with that annoying blond boy from earlier. What a nightmare that would have been.

“Hello. My name is Brycen Ivouar. Guess we’re partners,” He said with a small smirk. He hoped the other boy could keep up, because Brycen wasn’t about to slack. “Shall we get going? We have a relic to find,” Brycen said with a determined tone, almost forgetting to wait for the other boy to introduce himself. “Sorry, What did you say your name was? Brycen asked, eyeing the other boy again.

Threcious bows at his waist in an overdramatic fashion. "Threcious Grussel, at your service. And yes, the sooner we find the relic the sooner we can get out of here. Doubt a beowolf is the only thing in here, unless Ozpin was lying."

The First Day || Brycen & Threcious

You’ll be using your own landing strategy,”

✨ Brycen sighed to himself as Ozpin uttered those words. To be honest, he was expecting more of a challenge for the first day. It was Beacon after all. But to Brycen, this was combat school level. Simple. Find a relic, and retrieve it. The slightly peeving matter was that whoever he made eye contact with first, would be his partner for the next four years. He hoped it was with someone good. Definitely not that blond, clueless looking guy. That would be the absolute worst.

Leaning forward for good form, Brycen drew Argentum, his stiletto/whip weapon, and waited for the launch pad to fire. When it did, he had to admit he was surprised by the force of it. Sailing through the air made Brycen feel awake, and focused. Heights were never a problem for him. When he reached what he guessed to be the apex of the arc, he activated his semblance, unfurling two rather large wings that looked as if they were made of pure aura. He didn’t want to show off his semblance so soon, but, he didn’t really have another landing strategy.

He curved his wings in, as to slow his velocity, and landed without problems on the ground, looking around a bit for Grimm. It might have been a better strategy to fly above the treetops….oh well. Brycen began to jog across the forest floor, hoping to finish this relatively quickly–wouldn’t hurt to impress the teachers on the first day. With a slight smirk to himself at the thought, he was only brought out of his slightly vain thoughts when he heard what sounded like a thump. Brandishing Argentum again, he flicked the button to shift it to its whip setting.

“Who’s there?!” Brycen called out, ready to lash out with his whip.✨

(It's great lol) "Just little old me." Threcious kicks out the already disintegrating body of a Beowulf from the shrubbery and coincidently locks eyes with the guy standing g there with the whip.
