I can be a really good surgeon and make really good clinical judgments and I can still have my nails done, I can still feel like a woman, and look like a woman.

Tattooed medblrs:

Should I get my tattoo on my shoulder/back or forearm? I’m wondering because I’d like to cover it up if need be (interviews, etc.) and I’m not sure what all I’ll be wearing (except scrubs, white coat, and suits) in med school/for med school related activities?

if it’s all the same to you, shoulder/back is easier to cover up. but if you want it on your forearm more I wouldn’t hesitate.

As a medblr with a forearm tat, I agree - it’s really up to you.

As far as medical school activities go - I have never had any issues from my tattoo and in fact several of my professors have made positive comments about it.

For clerkship/interviews however, I do plan on covering it up - either with long sleeves/white coat or with tattoo concealer just to avoid any judgement.

Honestly though it’s completely up to you. If you want a forearm tattoo by all means go for it as long as you’re okay with covering it up from time to time.

What is being matched? I'm absolutely clueless and really confused lol

Avatar

Match is the mysterious and magical process that determines where those seeking residency training in the united states get assigned to programs.

It’s kind of like the sorting hat at Hogwarts. Today future interns got their letter saying they will be studying somewhere next year and on Friday they find out what house they will belong to.

A new NP student joined our team yesterday. Now we have NP students all the time, but this was the first one who wore her white coat, and it’s longer than mine! And I’m mad jealous they don’t have to go through the awkward short coat faze.

Haha I hate our short coats. Actually I hate all white coats.

Another plus to ER. You don’t really have to wear it unless you really want to.

benefit to training in Ireland - we get long white coats from day 1

but i hate the white coat

except for keeping snacks in the pockets

Petition to change name from “white coat” to “snack jacket.”

I’ve (d)evolved so much in the past three years–I wear a college fleece over scrubs instead of a white coat whenever allowed

Second ‘snack jacket’. Literally the only good thing about white coats are the pockets. For holding more snacks.

I’m now only referring to my white coat as a “snack jacket”.

This happened to me today, too! I’m so good at avoiding.

Me too! I usually just push them away. Especially if I actually like them. The whole dating thing just seems too much for me.

Why I always end up dating one of my friends :S Just too intimidating and awkward with strangers/acquaintances sometimes.

welcome to the ED

(convo with my medical director in the emergency department about a hypothetical patient)

dr medical director: “congratulations you just killed your patient”

me: 😟

dr M.D.: “that’s ok. it will happen. I’ve killed patients before. [the PA] has killed patients before. sometimes that’s part of the job”
