A few new pieces going up on Etsy this weekend. In Edinburgh (well over a year ago now… yikes time flies) I looked up my closest related clan in all the many tourist shops, as one must. A favorite result from my recent adventures into sewing. The pattern is “Modern Born Zipper Pouch” by @kzstevens from @makingzine No. 6 and then I went… a bit extra with the stitching. I really love the sashiko style used in the pattern, though I don’t tend to stick very rigidly to the to the traditional method. I definitely want to play with it some more. Available for preorder now 😬. Still so wild to see it becoming a real book. In other news, I got to visit an elementary school yesterday and talk with the second grade about being an illustrator. The kids were so enthusiastic and excited about illustration and creating their own stories. It’s so easy to get caught up in some of the stressful business aspects of freelance… but talking with them, impossible not to be reminded that this is really a pretty great job- and I’m grateful to be able to do it at all. Anyways. Hoping I can hold on to some of that energy, and do better at following my own advice. (And maybe even post more?
