Dear Dr. Carmine. How are your experiments coming along? You haven't mutated into some hideous black being have you? My peers and I are immensely impressed in your research thus far. However. We are quite skeptical to the fruition of any results. We shall be in touch. Oh and Dr. Carmine.... If your research comes to an exceptional result, there will be a grand.... surprise waiting for you.

There is a sigh. A long winded, exasperated sigh.

It was a breath that spoke for itself, carrying all the weight of the world and the infuriating disappointment that came with it, a feeling all living things had become familiar with in some point during their short, fleeting lives. A feeling Lotte would come to know all too well in his career. Clenched fists squeeze down on imaginary irritation given form, then unravel to meet with one another under the weight of his chin, fingers intertwined to instill a sense of fleeting temperance.

…This was all they could muster? It wasn’t worth the energy.

….Right.

Lotte’s voice is quiet, only loud enough to reassure him of it’s presence. The meaning takes root in disturbed soils that consist of the scientist’s psyche, and within moments his shoulders would relax. Who would send this? Why would they waste their precious time to provoke him with such poorly constructed words and silly accusations? It was almost equivalent to some teenager who had the unfortunate opportunity to smear his dirty hands all over a poor computer’s keys.

….Somehow, that last part only makes it worse. Almost laughable. A small chuckle sounds from the depths of Lotte’s throat. A co-worker must of sent this, and for no other purpose than to rile their peer; how childish. Such time could be, should be better spent on research, something productive that could change the world and prove their worth to the benefit of Sector Seven. A religion, the only religion Lotte would follow.

And it is for that exact display of undeniable laziness and immaturity that they would never reach Lotte’s ability.

Lotte wouldn’t bother giving them a response; he was a man of philosophy and debate, not petty arguments. A final tap on the smooth keys, and the message was deleted from his work space, and his memories.

Anyways, onto more important matters….

A hand routinely swiped past the overhanging eye, a glaring flourescent green which hardly seemed welcoming. An indifferent beep resounded from within, bellowing it's approval.

"Identification approved; welcome, Lotte Carmine."

Thin white doors slid open at the AI's command and awaited it's employee's long due return, greeting him with familiar sights and scents one could never erase from their memory. A few steps in and already the ever intoxicating aroma of acidic concotions and cheap Ikaruga blend burned his nostrils. Mechanical hisses and wails echoed through cold, unforgiving halls as Lotte's feet instinctually guided their owner to his usual post.

"It's been a while. No doubt there's a large amount of work waiting for me at the desk....and the usual earful, too."

Perhaps one could of used the foresight to buy her some candy first. As always, this would be a long and exhausting night.

“A life without change…I both enjoy and curse it. Faodubh quietly brought the cup in front of his face once again; thankfully, it was cool enough to allow him to take a small sip. He placed the cup back down again, refocusing on Lotte. “But I didn’t choose such a life. The locals that live in the area around my manor don’t…take the kindest to my less than human features.

“But a life full of work and busywork…? I don’t feel that sort of life would suit me, at least not as much as a life of static solitude has. Given everything that had happened, Faodubh left it up to Lotte to determine that what he said wasn’t exactly a good thing. Nothing malicious was meant in letting him figure it out for himself. Think of it almost as a test to see how cerebral this man was.

“Though I can understand not allowing outsiders to see what one is working on in here, Lotte. I have difficulty allowing strangers to see exactly what I do in my home. Faodubh gave pause for a brief moment, taking another sip of his drink before continuing. “At least beyond what I deem is safe for them to know. The host is to be open, but there is obviously comfort to think of. I’m sure you understand, Lotte?

Lotte nodded in response, a small smile on his face. "I understand, although, you seem more well mannered and familiar with the role of a host than I could ever be. You keep secrets to protect yourself, my reasons are a bit more...shallow." Though, that was a story for another day, perhaps in the distant future when the two were a little more acquainted with one another.

"....It must be rather difficult, having to hide your features from said guests." From what Lotte could gather, it almost sounded like Faodubh didn't have much choice in his life, not much freedom; what with the fear of being discriminated for his appearance. It was understandable that he would prefer a more quiet, isolated life; if only because he had to live that way; perhaps he's adjusted and it's become something of personal preference as well, theories, theories.... "Surely, you have some companions, yes?"

"Sniff…. you’re…." Of course, this probably went against the security alarms they’d heard earlier. … maybe the people were nicer than the group was as a whole? Not entirely true, as the group of Sector Seven wasn’t mean really, but individuals would often be nicer as themselves than they would be as part of a group. "… you’re gonna get in sooooo much trouble…" Using those words to pick herself back up to being herself again, Luna wiped away her tears.

"W-We’re being let off….?" Sena himself couldn’t really understand that, as he was expecting punishment this entire time. Of course, not getting in trouble was easy on his conscience, but he couldn’t help but wonder why. Perhaps this person was a friendly soul? "And you’re showing us around… that sounds-"

"Awesome!" Luna shouted out, in spite of the still-going alarms. It didn’t take long to return to her old obnoxious self. "Luna’s name is Luna, of course! And the wimp here is Sena."

"Wh-WHy do you always introduce me as that…?"

We? Sena? Well, this was certainly a surprise...two people sharing a body; he had heard numerous tales of such a condition, but this was the first he had actually come into contact with such an individual. While the scientist was immensely curious, he decided not to make a big deal out of it-- people were people, and treating them differently wasn't very fair in the slightest, especially with children.

"....Right, it's a pleasure. I'm Lotte Carmine, I work here, though I'm sure you two figured that out earlier.... I study seithr and the multiple ways we can make use of it in our lives." He contemplated mentioning his studies of the boundary to the young ones, but if things turned sour and they went around blabbering about it to others, he'd really be in trouble. It was best to keep such things private, and speaking of that...

"As I said before, there are limits to what exactly I can show you, so I would like for you to avoid wandering around on your own." Lotte walked up to one of the more intriguing doors of the room and swiped his ID, causing a mechanical whirl to emit from within as the heavy doors slid open. "...Follow me, and don't touch anything or make too much noise; this is going to be quick, so enjoy it while you two can."

The duo, in unison, started sobbing. Were they caught? Were they gonna be brought in? Luna’s rash and bratty mind was overcome with thoughts of the machines they’d caught glimpses of and how impressive they were, and Sena’s rational mind was afraid of getting in serious trouble.

"A-Are we gonna be tortured… with those mechs for breaking in…?" All Luna had on her mind were the cool robots being used for interrogations.

"W-We wanted to see the famous Sector Seven and it’s cool science… and we snuck in… and security systems went off… and-" Sena spilled everything the moment he thought they’d be busted. Technically though, they already were.

"N-No--! Don't cry, I..." And then it got worse.

Guilt immediately settled itself into the scientist's chest once the little duo started the waterworks. Crying children made him uncomfortable; and being the cause of their tears was worse. He had a habit of forgetting that children were usually gentle souls and needed to be treated as such. Reluctantly, he drew closer to his unexpected guests so that he may try to sooth their nerves.

"No, you are not going to be tortured-- please, don't think we use these devices for such inhumane things...." Lotte cleared his throat and spoke more gently, to reassure them that no terrible punishment would be in order. "I'm....sorry I shouted at you, but please try to calm down." But what to do with them? Trespassing uninvited into Sector Seven was still against regulations, however....

"....Normally, I would call for the authorities so they may see you out; but if you're so curious about what goes on in Sector Seven, then I suppose I wouldn't mind giving you a brief tour." Keyword being brief. Lotte couldn't help but feel some sort of admiration for their curiosity, and the length they were willing to go to see such fascinating things was certainly unusual for today's generation.

"What is your name?" Oh boy, Kokonoe was going to kill him if this ever leaked to her.

                                             I don’t even remember

I ship chemistry, I ship chemistry, repeat, I ship chemistry. So forgive me if I do not jump your bones right away. The story has to make sense to me.  There has to be a connection.  And if I don’t feel it, I can’t write it.
