NaNo 2019 Update
So NaNoWriMo is over for another year!
November was ROUGH for me. I had two separate bugs that kept me in bed for 4+ days each, and due to some chronic illnesses, I felt generally unwell most of the month. On top of that, it was report card season (complete with parent-teacher interviews). And even when I’m not sick, those tiny humans I work with tire me out!!
On that note, I didn’t write nearly as much as planned, but it’s okay. I went into NaNo expecting that I WOULDN’T hit 50k, and honestly, writing 50k wasn’t my goal. It was to write as much as possible while also maintaining the quality of my writing.
I’ve completed several first drafts of novels by now, and I’ve done major revisions on projects. I know I CAN write a complete first draft now. I love NaNo, but I also know that when I do NaNo and SOLELY focus on wordcount (which is fun sometimes!) the quality of my work suffers. I was a rebel this year and continued working on an already existing project.
I wrote just under 7000 words this month.
But it’s December, and I’m continuing to write. That’s what matters. That’s a win.

That's because we cant even use them to recoup. We've gotta use them to do laundry and dishes and grocery shop and get the house cleaned up and carve out some time for friends and family who we haven't seen all week long because we've been at work. We don't get to recover. We just have a never ending list of stuff that needs doing

NaNoWriMo update
So I am SUPER behind, which is okay, since I didn’t plan to write 50k this month. I teach grade one, so by the time I get home in the evenings, I’m too tired to write coherently (and the couple of nights I TRIED, I wrote ABSOLUTE GARBAGE so there’s no point in that). On weekends I usually manage to get a good amount of words down, but last weekend AND this weekend I’ve been sick. Plus this week I had to write report cards (if only THOSE words counted towards my project).
My goal this month was to write as much as possible, and I’m doing that. “As much as possible” amounts to less than around 25,000 words, but that’s okay. I would have written more if I let myself write absolute garbage for the sake of more words (I’ve done that before! It’s a lot of fun!) but for this project, I’m okay with moving at a slower pace if that means the words I DO write are better quality.
