There’s no denying the LONGING for home. – It aches in his bones more than age ever would because he has grown no older, regardless of the years passed. The thoughts turn over in his head, screaming like a RUSTED wheel begging to stop but it won’t. It will never stop. He knows this. The carefree days of youth have long gone, where the dance halls were filled with boys barely SEVENTEEN and yet wanting to fight in a war they had no place in. He was one of them once. Barely out of boyhood, marching off at DAYBREAK, ready to do whatever was needed to serve his country. — Anger permeates his body at the thought, scorching through his veins like a blasting FURNACE. He wants to leave those memories as ash, scatter them to the winds so that someone else may bear their burden but they are his and his alone. There are more than NINE circles of hell, he knows that personally. The BENIGN hand of God does nothing for those stolen by the Devil himself. It is up to his own hands, one of flesh and one of steel, to claw his way to the surface and earn his HOMECOMING. Perhaps there will be ONE day where he doesn’t wish he can turn back time, to when his nightmares aren’t plagued by his fall from the FREIGHT CAR. —

❈ Runaway | | Sherlock and Richard ❈

Richard knew that he shouldn’t leave the flat, not now that he was somewhere relatively safe, he would just have to be sure to avoid any doors or windows because Jim wasn’t above sending a sniper out of him if he became a real problem and the last thing he wanted was to end up shot.

However, before he could say anything, he found himself faced by Sherlock’s friend. At first he seemed reasonably surprised and Richard was going to explain but before he could, he found himself pinned to the wall and a small yelp leaving his lips.

"I.. I’m not J-JIm!" Richard cried out, trying to pull himself away from the man’s grasp but finding himself completely trapped, struggling in vain.

It was clear the man didn’t believe him, as he looked over at Sherlock, then back to him while giving the shake of his head. “Not this time, Jim, you’re not getting away from us this time with this rubbish.” He snarled, only succeeding in pulling another weak yelp from Richard as he was pulled back and slammed against the wall again.

"I came here f-for help!" He tried to explain, practically sobbing. "I’m J-Jim’s twin. I came h-here for help.. Please.. P-Please don’t hurt me anymore.."

It was clear that John knew this man, or at least the man’s twin. It confirmed him of his suspicion that he had indeed met the man in his past.

"John, calm down." Sherlock placed a hand on John’s shoulder, trying to bring some sense to the man. "He needs our help. Richard’s… he’s our client."

John quickly shrugged Sherlock's hand off, letting out a snarl. "Richard? Richard Brook?!" He let out a hoarse unamused laugh, ready to punch Richard in the face as the man was trying to pull himself free from John's grasp. "You're tried that one before, Moriarty! We're not falling for it again."

Richard shook his head, looking over at Sherlock in absolute terror. "P-Please.. Please d-don't hurt me! I.. I just... I n-needed help, S-Sherlock please help!" He pleaded, not wanting to get killed by the angry army doctor.

Richard continued to stumble away, not listening to Sherlock as he spoke, he just knew he needed to get out of there. Once he finally got out of the house, he slumped against the wall, sitting himself down and trying to stop himself from being sick. “G-God.. So.. So much b-blood…” He trembled, burying his face against his hands.

Sherlock stayed next to him while Lestrade and the others came to the crime scene. He left Richard to the side while he spoke to the men, and then went back to his new friend. “I need to go inside to look for clues. I assume you don’t want to join me…” He trailed off. “I’ll be back.” He turned abruptly and wuickly went into the room. It only took him five minutes to gather evidence and tell Lestrade. When he came back to Jim, he stood next to him once more. “Do you want me to tell you what I found?”

It took a while for Richard to steady himself, running his hands through his hair and taking slow breaths, doing all he could to avoid an outright panic attack. When Sherlock came back, he looked up, his brows furrowed a little. "I-If you c-can do it without being t-too graphic.. yeah." He mumbled, it was only right that he knew what happened, afterall, it had been his fault for trying to help the guy.

"P-Payment isn’t a problem.. He wants you to.. um.. you have t-to kill someone.."

"And there was me thinking he wanted me to fetch groceries for him. Who, where and how?"

Richard pulled a piece a paper out of his pocket, glancing down at it before holding it out. "Ah.. There's a few. T-They're all on there." He murmured, nibbling the inside of his lip.

Wake up gorgeous~ (I can give you dark!Jim~)

However much Richard knew Jim wasn’t a good man, he believed there were moments that he truly did care. Afterall, today he had ensured he took his medication, as it was important he had it or else he could suffer serious side-effects.

Not once since taking them had he suffered the effects he was feeling at that moment, he could barely keep himself awake and he was honestly starting to worry. Only just managing to pull himself to his feet, he stumbled into Jim’s office, leaning on the doorframe. “J-Jim.. I.. I think..” The words just wouldn’t leave him and suddenly the world went black around him.

Jim crossed his legs underneath him, curling up on the chair and resisting the urge to bounce like an excited puppy. The prospect of finally getting his revenge was one which made his heart soar. As he heard Richard begin to stir, he strolled to the bed, gripping at Richard’s wrists and pinning them above his head. “Hello, brother-mine.” He whispered venomously.

Hearing movement, Richard tried to focus on it, only to find his wrists being pinned to the bed. He was about to call Jim for help, to say someone was attacking him but the man's voice practically hissed at him from above and he realized who this was. "J-Jim...? W-what? What's going on?"

((new follower greeter thingy))

"I.. I can’t g-go. I can’t.." Richard breathed, shaking his head and looking up at her, his brows furrowed. He thought they’d understand that he wasn’t safe now that he’d helped Sherlock, his brother would kill him for sure. "I need.. I.. I need to stay somewhere safe, s-so Jim won’t kill me.."

image

"You can’t stay here- Jim knows where we live" she said softly. "I know a decent hotel you can stay in" she offered. It was probably the best option. Baker Street was anything but safe under the eyes of Moriarty. He’d set up cameras once before.

"But.. But is the hotel s-safe?" Richard asked, his brows furrowed a bit. The last thing he needed was a sniper bullet in the chest for having attempted coming for help, he just wanted to be free of his brother.

= Singing in a karaoke bar.

Halting in his singing, Richard looked down for a moment, wondering if he was perhaps being too loud or annoying for the other patrons. “S-Sorry, was I being a-a bother?” He asked, stammering slightly.

"I don’t want t-to know what he did, he’s a m-monster and I.. I want to be f-free of him for good." Richard breathed, looking down at the floor, his hands toying with his cardigan.

"Whatever he’s d-done, he’s probably done i-it to me.." He admitted, finally looking up at her, a frown across his face.

"I-I’m sorry… It must be hard, having a twin like him." Molly was starting to feel very sorry for him now. She didn’t think he could be pretending everything.

Richard nodded, frowning to himself. "I.. I want t-to get away but he knows t-too many people. I don't h-have anywhere to go.." He muttered, looking up at Molly. "How do y-you know him?"

❃Chatter || Mutant!AU || John and Richard ❃

"He is r-really friendly.. Sometimes he c-can get scared though.." Richard shrugged, giving him a small smile, he really wasn’t used to being able to discuss these sorts of things, it was nice that he wasn’t being judged at all for his power. "We only r-really met today though.. I guess h-he was lonely and wanted a friend, like me."

Richard grinned at the last question, looking up at John happily. “I like painting and storytelling, t-they go well together b-because I can make art of my s-stories.”

"Oh, painting? Sometime, maybe you should paint Mike. I’d love to see it; I was never good at art, myself, but I can appreciate it." Hobbies were good for a young mutant like him to have. It would keep him occupied, and give a vent to the rather troublesome feelings he would go through.

Everyone struggled with them. Accepting their powers, trying to make friends in a new world… It wasn’t easy to get used to the Academy. But it would be a good home for Richard, of that much John was sure.

"What sort of stories do you like?"

Richard nodded quickly at the idea of painting Mike, a wide smile on his face. He could get him to pose somewhere and maybe even the squirrel itself would enjoy being portrayed. "I'm still practicing but I'm.. I'm pretty okay." He shrugged, not one for being overly proud of what he creates.

Perhaps he'd even end up painting some of the other students, if they were alright with it, he could paint them all as superheroes.

"I like fairytales mostly, t-the nice ones, not the scary ones."

12. Re-enacting a scene from a movie

Richard stopped mid-‘attack’ as Jim walked in, he had been re-enacting a scene from Peter Pan and he wasn’t expecting to be caught at all. “O-Oh.. Hi Jim..”

Avatar

Jim raised an eyebrow at his brother, his lip curling in frank repulsion. Furrowing his eyebrows, he continued to stare at him without a comment, waiting for an explanation.

It was obvious that Jim wasn't amused and he would have to explain himself, letting out a sigh, he toyed with his cardigan with a frown. "I.. I was practicing acting.. Just.. Just pretending t-to be Peter Pan.." He admitted, a little embarrassed.

❃ Rising mutation || Mutant!AU || Sherlock and Richard ❃

Honestly he was making a lot of little mistakes. Sure normal people wouldn’t see them, but she would, and smart people would. He looked down at the bird, a clear communicative gesture, most people couldn’t talk to birds. She had already decided that he good, but there he was proving it again, didn’t anyone warn him about these things? Really public opinion wasn’t that popular on them and even if he was just a kid like her they probably would not treat him with kindness.

As soon as they shook hands she pulled hers back. Slowly though, she didn’t want to alarm him and he did seem rather jumpy. Richard that was, well the bird probably was a bit jumpy to but she didn’t exactly pay it a lot of attention. After all it was a tiny injured bird it really couldn’t do her much and truth be told she did not particularly care for any animal. Well with the exception of her dog of course, but Redbeard wasn’t a regular animal. Not to her at least.

Sherlock frowned a little bit at his question. Of course she had expected it, after all she knew what he could do, and he was only curious. But she didn’t really like it, her mother called them gifts, but they never really felt like gifts. Not to her. “I can’t do anything nice” she stated. “I don’t really like it” mostly she feared touching something in public and getting an image. There was no way she could hide that.

"Sometimes when i tough objects i can see things that happened, in the past, or stuff that will happen in the future" and that wasn’t the bad thing. "And i can see and talk to dead people" she stated. Not wholly comfortable with them. Truth be told the dead person hadn’t been expecting it either to talk to a kid the first time she had done that.

The frown from his question almost drew Richard into apologizing for asking, he could imagine some mutants would prefer not to talk about their powers at all and honestly he understood that entirely, he wasn't exactly proud of his own powers. They were nice, of course, as he was never without someone to talk to, even if that someone was a bird or squirrel or something of the sort. But having his parents hating it, telling him to keep it out of the house, that made it difficult for him to want to talk about it.

Richard's brows raised, however, as she listed her two powers. He didn't think people could actually have two but clearly they could, as she had said so. "Y-You.. You can see ghosts?" He asked, a little scared of that idea, he'd always been told ghosts weren't real and now this mutant was proving that all wrong. It wasn't her power he was scared of, it was the fact a power like that could exist, as that meant there really were ghosts.

"I like your first p-power, that seems pretty cool." He murmured, honestly not sure what else to say, he couldn't imagine it was easy being able to see dead people all the time. Richard was sure he'd go mad if he even saw them once.

❈Hello, my dear || Richard and Jack ❈

Honestly, Richard didn’t know why he was so surprised that Jim had a doctor on his payroll, it was only logical considering how dangerous the job was but it still surprised him. He gave an awkward smile as the man asked about his head, nodding slightly. “T-That damage was from a-a long time ago.. I didn’t h-hit my head here..” He assured, giving a small shrug. “I’m f-fine.”

Jack nodded still smiling polite at him, not worried or concerned anymore. “Okay. I was just asking because when you played your brother you really were quite different.” He explained shortly. He had no intention to make fun of the stutter. The man in front of him was cute and that was everything that mattered to him. “So, was that whole talk about me getting a better position just to test my loyalty or could I really get a better payment?” He asked then.

"I.. I have to focus t-to keep myself calm and then.. then I don't have a stutter." Richard admitted, nibbling the inside of his lip. "It was to t-test your loyalty so that Jim could be s-sure you were ready for the better job. He wants you working close t-to him, so... so he had to be sure you w-wouldn't try to kill him. He l-looks like.. well, what I acted like a-and because he's small.. some people think h-he's not as scary." He shrugged, clearly not agreeing with them, Jim was terrifying.
