Hey you know how I said I was going to make a workbook on the kind of bullshit you need to do when someone you love dies? I actually did that.

Featuring Helpful Sections such as:

  • Death Certificates – What you need, why you need them, and how to get them
  • Prepare to spend a long and miserable time on the phone
  • What the Everloving Fuck is Probate
  • Some Simple Dos and Don’ts
  • Shitty Mad Libs – Templates for writing Obituaries and Memorials
  • How to plan a non-religious death party
  • So you suddenly have to become some sort of hacker or some shit

This is an eighteen page book that you can print out, download, share, and give away; it is meant to be used to collect information about funeral planning and account management after a death OR you can use it BEFORE you die and give people information so they’re not stuck playing Nancy Fucking Drew while trying to keep seventeen cousins who crawled out of the woodwork from gutting each other in front of the fucking casket as they argue about who’s inheriting grandma’s favorite dentures.

It’s not exactly cheerful and it’s full of things that are probably going to feel really fucking raw if you’re processing a fresh death.

I’m sorry! I love you! Death is shitty! I’m trying to laugh about it a little and I hope you can laugh a little too because otherwise we’re all just going to cry together.

Good luck!

(in memory of my weirdo mother and her weirdo siblings who all died too fucking young and left me holding this flaming bag of dogshit)

This is utterly amazing and I wish I’d had this when my dad died and I was a 22-year old estate executor.

Who the fuck decided that happy endings are boring?? That characters being happy was boring??? Cause fuck that shit no one wants a sad ending they’re awful and usually just for shock value. Give me a happy ending any day I’d rather watch my favorite ship and characters grow and change and fall in love and find their place in the world then watch them die and fall into pits of despair and never getting to live their lives

being rude to customer service people is just buck wild to me … not even on just a human decency level, but also like, strategically

if you’re being mean why would anyone want to help you??? you’re mean. they hate you. they don’t want to help you.

i’ve found it’s most effective to be very polite and very friendly while steeped in desperation

Holy shit.... Never Again Action (the group who started #JewsAgainstICE) had an ICE detention truck drive through them while they were shutting down Wayne Detention Center in Rhode Island this evening (August 14th).

Like they were holding the line across the entry gate and refusing to let night shift guards in and a massive truck just, fucking, drove up to them then slowed as the protestors got up from where they were sitting, alarmed, then the truck accelerated into people.

It doesn't seem like there are any serious injuries. The people who were around the truck after it stopped accelerating into people were pepper sprayed.

The truck was driven by an ICE guard.

As this information is publicly available, the law in the US does not consider this doxxing, which is why it was on twitter on the first place. Here's the guy.

Its the same people. If you can stomach working for ICE its because you're a right-wing fascist. Same tactics, different day.

Fun fact, y’all!! Jewish protesters have been surrounding and shutting down ICE detention centers for weeks now, and we’re getting absolutely NO media coverage. None. In the slightest. And by jewish protesters I mean THOUSANDS OF US HAVE BEEN PROTESTING FOR NIGHTS ON END AND OVER 250 HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AT THIS POINT AND WE ARE GETTING ZERO COVERAGE. This is probably the biggest protest movement in american jewish history and it’s getting no coverage. We got hit with a truck DRIVEN BY A DETENTION CENTER GUARD and pepper sprayed and many people ended up in the hospital - one man in his sixties has a broken leg and a potentially broken back because of it. PLEASE REBLOG THIS. THOUSANDS OF YOUR JEWISH SIBLINGS ARE TRYING TO SHUT DOWN THE CENTERS AND WE’RE GETTING ZERO COVERAGE. PLEASE PLEASE SPREAD THIS AROUND.

I think a huge part of the ignorance about aromanticism is that people fundamentally misunderstand aro relationships because they simply do not have any frame of reference for what it would be like to live without romantic feelings. Non-aro people completely miss the point when they imagine their life as exactly the same, but with the romantic feelings and relationships removed, and extrapolate that that’s what aro people’s lives are like, because for a lot of people… it’s not.

It’s the same misunderstanding when cis people try to imagine what it would be like to be trans by thinking “what if I wanted to be a boy?” and straight people imagine their partner and their relationship as exactly the same, just another gender.

That’s why we get all this bullshit where allo people act as though all relationships must fit neatly and obviously into either ‘romantic’ or ‘platonic’ categories, because… their relationships do. That’s why we hear stuff like “lol what you are describing is a friendship!” when aro people talk about QPRs, because for them, any relationship that lacks romantic affection is a friendship. Because they are not imagining their life without a relationship that is committed, incredibly intimate, exclusive, and prioritised above all others.

Aro people can still desire a level of intimacy and commitment with somebody that everybody else gets from romantic relationships, without wanting a romance: sharing everything - space, money, belongings, time - having a level of emotional and even physical intimacy that is not common in friendships, being committed to one another, making that relationship a priority above other things in your life, basing major life decisions around that relationship… these are all things that most people fulfil through romantic relationships, and aro people can desire that kind of intimacy without feeling or wanting romance.

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter if you don’t understand QPRs or the aro experience. You don’t have to understand it to respect it. At some point you have to acknowledge that you don’t understand because you have not experienced it, you have no frame of reference for it, and you will never really know what it’s like because those are not one of those people. The validity of aro people’s experiences does not hinge on whether or not non-aro people understand or accept them.

ppl talk shit about tumblr but it’s delightfully ungovernable and chaotic. That has its downsides but watching companies try and fail to control it is amusing as fuck though it’s making the site garbagier than before.

I really think we shouldn’t overlook the impact of xkit here bc tumblr is like the one site where the user base wants and uses the ability to “push back” on site development. Most companies these days just roll out changes to force the user base to push whatever new behavior they think will make them millions and give the users no say. Tumblr does the same except *a bunch of use can push code back* because some awesome people make xkit available.

Like between that and the lack of visible follower counts tumblr really does offer the best at-will low pressure social media experience compared to the busy, forced user experience on other social media platforms.
