This richly-illustrated tarot deck of 78 original paintings that traverse the mental landscape of the surreal, the intense, the queer, and the divine will be available for pre-order soon! The deck will be 78 cards printed on 350gsm high-quality stock, accompanied by a guidebook written by me, and ensconced in a protective and decorated hinge box. 

Thank you so much to everyone for your support that made this deck possible. I am so excited to share this art object with you all.

Coming to Kickstarter August 15th. The Lubanko Tarot: A 78-card, fully-illustrated tarot deck of the surreal, the subconscious, and the intense. – It’s happening! The card art is done. It is time to launch. The machinations are underway for an August Kickstarter for my tarot deck.I am so thankful for the kindness and support I’ve received on this journey. It’s been many years of doing my best to make the most sincere and intense project of my life, and it’s finally coming to a head. I could not have done this to this degree without all of you being here with your encouragement and your kind words. I’ve been doing the logistics for this for a while, but now comes the marathon-to-sprint of getting everything together formally for the Kickstarter. In the next couple of months, I am going to be rolling out more details as I know them.This has been 6+ years in the making, and I cannot wait to share it with you all. I may ask you in the next coming months: if you are interested in seeing this made, tell your friends! Tell your networks. Tell someone who you think would be helped or warmed by this art. Why did this tarot deck take 6 years of my life? Because I never let it be the Only Project. When I started years ago, I made a promise to myself that it would be something special that I only made paintings I was proud of. If I wasn’t feeling it, I wouldn’t paint it. 

I started this when I was freelancing years ago, working other art and design jobs and making a lot of things for other people to pay the bills. I’ve made a lot of other things in between. This project was meant to be 100% sincere, with no compromise. I’d make it no matter what.

I can say that on this day of finishing all of the cards– I kept my promise. I did not compromise. Every single one of these is a sincere piece with the metaphor I meant to say at the time I meant to say it. They are not “perfect” art, as I intended. They are a sentence.

These pieces will mean something different to everyone who looks at them, and that’s good. That’s art. I’ve put these little fragments of my soul out on the table, and we’ll see which pieces of our mutual souls speak and resonate, and I think that’s lovely.

I’ve got some logistical stuff to wrap up (books, so that folks can learn the tarot and read the meanings! card backs!) but I’ll be announcing more and more details closer to the date.
