ich luge bullets. bullets that weren’t bullets but tranquilizers. right? ram wasn’t dead, right? asleep? but the way j.d. had taken off afterwards, the panic in his eyes when he saw how lousy a shot she truly was, the way his pupils dilated like an animals, all hungry and wanting. veronica screamed. she shoved ram. once, twice, over and over and over again. please wake up, please wake up, please, holy shit, ram can’t be dead he can’t be d e a d. j.d. was yelling something at her, telling her to shoot kurt, she guessed, something like that. he was still chasing him… he was still chasing kurt.veronica lept up as they approached, j.d. sprinting, trying toaim the gun as best he could, kurt running too and then—tripping.kurt sprawled on the ground, hands raised, cheeks tear-stained. kurt kelly. quarterback. douche of westerburg and fuckboy supreme. how many times had he copied her homework? how many times had he cheated off her tests? did any of it matter now? j.d. gave a triumphant whoop, grinning sadistically as he bore down on the boy with his gun. with his ich luge bullets. before veronica could even blink she was in front of him, the gunshot deafening as she flung out her arm——almost as if to catch the bullet—before the impact shattered the bones in her right shoulder, splintering up and down her side until she collapsed. ich luge bullets…i’m such an idiot.
