have at least three main reliable brushes: 1 for lines, 1 for shading, 1 for flat colors
use textured brushes whenever possible, and avoid overly soft brushes, especially for lineart. very soft brushes can come across as unconfident or blurry
balance soft and hard edges
use clip studio paint for lines - it has better pen pressure than PS
experiment with adjustment layers, overlays, etc, but try not to use it as a crutch
do color studies
do traditional art sometimes
use 300+ dpi for good resolution
the selection/lasso tool is VERY useful for good solid shapes
try a bunch of different processes to find one(s) that work for you!

So hey guys, I didn’t do the cool things.

The detail work on this drawing that you’ve already seen was done by a friend of mine who has decided to be unnamed. (He gave me a name but it’s a shitty one and he’ll be called Trent until he makes a better one) To do a lot of the cool stuff I’ll need help, and Trent can’t draw ponies... or much of anything else... but he can draw backgrounds and details! the two things I have little care for.
