I doubt there are any dance moms or teachers following me but if they are, before working with a photographer ask others about their experiences privately, look at the photographer's portfolio/instagram and decide if the photos they have taken are really what you want for your child. Also, don't leave your child alone with them. Every photographer you work with should allow you to quietly trail behind them during the shoot. Please don't get caught up in all the excitement of having a big photographer take pics of your kid.

I remember Campbell Clark’s mom making a post where she said you should always ask every dance photographer 1) are/were you a dancer? And 2) if not, why are you so interested in photographing dancers now?
