HOW I DO WORK

  1. open up plan, a website and app which allows you to import a google calendar, create task categories, and schedule events. it has been a lifesaver to me recently! full guide to use (x, x)
  2. open up hemingway editor, which helps you keep good writing level, sentence clarity, active voice, and other fun stuff. I also get less distracted on this minimalist-design app.
  3. open up google drive, or word, or whatever word processing application i am using currently. it is usually google docs. what I do, then is I outline my essay (not shown here). However, bc im a lazy peice of shit who can organize, I usually do headings and one-word sub-points. Then, i paste my work from hemingway into drive, with a text box w my header on the side (as seen in panel 3, above). I do this because i find putting the topic above the paragraph makes me confused? (idk man im strange). I keep going with this process, until all body paragraphs are done.
  4. Then, I do the intro and conclusion because, as a shitty writer, those basically KILL ME
  5. lastly, i print and proofread the shit out of it!

As a more math/science person than english, writing is very stressful for me. However, this method seems to work best! sorry for this short mp, i just felt like i needed to share my basic ass method with y’all.

  • a group blog for all members of the graduating class of 2017
  • a place for us to share posts about college apps, exams, standardized tests, and all the woes of our final year of secondary education

how to join

  • follow the admins/creators @etudiance & @intellectus + the blog @hs2017
  • fill out this form
  • apps close on August 1st at 11pm EST!! there’s no limit to the number of members or to the members themselves; all applications will be accepted.
  • you don’t have to be in high school, please just be a part of the class of 2017! (ie: your school isn’t called a high school. it can be any secondary school / school of that type. this does not mean the college/uni co.2017 can join, sorry)
  • you don’t have to be/have a studyblr (although not having one may slow down the process of your app/acceptance to the net)

once you’re a member

  • members will be added periodically, not all at once! so if you haven’t been added yet, don’t worry, it’ll happen!
  • an admin will message you once you’ve been added to the net & chat blog + link you to the guide with all the info you need to know
  • every member will have an individual tag [ ex: #etudiance! and #intellectus! ] for both the net & chat blog
  • introduce yourself on the chat blog, start reblogging helpful posts to the net, join the groupme, and meet your fellow graduating class members!!

You know what? No. I disagree. Completely.

While in theory– and obviously, in scientific practice– it is just the planet going around the sun, the new year is very much a symbolic thing, and since people believe in it, it does have some form of magic.

A fresh start is something wonderful because it represents the ability to try again and to shed old worries and fears and sorrows, and that’s really what the new year symbolizes. It’s a chance to try again and become better. 

So in practice, yes, it is magic– because people believe in it. Human imagination and creativity and invention and belief are wonderful things and the new year helps to embody all of those, and especially persistence. 

If we  believe in the new year as something magic that lets us wipe the slate clean and start over, then what’s wrong with that? It’s magic if we believe in it, and I for one certainly do. We need more than just cold facts to live.

 Hey guys!

I thought about this for a while, and came to the conclusion that I’d love to start a network, in time for the start of the new year! Most of us have “get better grades”/”study harder”/”learn a new skill” as one of their new years resolutions, so I thought it would make sense to create a supporting environment for that these kind of goals!

What’s the purpose of this?

A study buddy?

I thought it would be efficient to assign every member a buddy to help them, motivate them, and just be friends with. That would greatly increase the individual communication between members, and ameliorate your chances to reach your goals!

Other projects

Of course, I have also thought about others things I’d like to initiate, maybe along the lines of a zine or challenge. We could discuss that in the network, too.
