I know most people see their pets as their children but my cat is my roommate. The fact that she's an adult is so much funnier to me. She's had a rich, troubled kitty life, being a disabled homeless girl who got pregnant and was taken into a shelter and lived as a teenage mom raising her five kids. Watched her babies grow up, find themselves in adulthood and move on to their new families. A young empty nester, no husband, no property, no credit, no job, and social anxiety. She finally finds a roommate willing to pay rent, a young lesbian she can trust and become friends with. Except she has to deal with me baby talking her and scheduling her meals and giving her unwanted kisses on her little soft kitty head

Just curious how common this experience is. It's probably the most damaging thing my parents passed down to me but they're Boomers and I'm not sure if it's a generational thing that's gotten better (since most tumblr users have gen x or millennial parents). Anyway, if you internalized this as a kid I hope you find love and healing like I did. Your needs matter 💕

There was a new LGBT+ acronym, and it was twig etc. (it had to be in lowercase for some reason). It stood for trans, Welsh, intersex, and gay. Everyone else was etc. It was very controversial.

Residents of North Gaza express their frustration with the manner in which aid is distributed in Gaza. Addressing the camera, they reject the food aid stating that all they need is an end to the genocide.

They recount the dangers they face trying to retrieve aid dropped in the sea and mention the absurdity and humiliation of dropping supplies into water when there are empty lands available, as well as land entry points available that are being blocked by Israel.

Their pointed critique extends to the United States, condemning the simultaneous sending of weapons and aid by planes, suggesting that the food drops are another weapon used against them.

gotta say really not a fan of apps and websites making their dark themes highly saturated. its way harsher on my eyes than plain white and i hate how there are no longer any desaturated themes left

actually im not done. first thing we learned in web design classes was "dont use over saturated colors because it strains users eyes and makes them more likely to spend less time on your site"

and YET

Anonymous asked:

Why do you need your earbuds to have a wire so badly?

I am assuming this is about a post I reblogged like six months ago when I went off on forced technological enshitification and the slow erosion of consumer options. But sure, I'll bite.

Why do I "need" my earbuds to have a wire? I dunno, Anon, maybe I:

  • Don't want to have to worry about recharging my earbuds.
  • Don't want my earbuds to be even easier to lose.
  • Don't want my earbuds to need separate accessories that are as easy to lose as the earbuds.
  • Prefer to have bluetooth turned off on my devices for security and safety reasons.
  • Like being able to seamlessly plug my earbuds into my computer, my MP3 player, or any other device with a headphone jack.
  • Don't want to spend 50 dollars on decent wireless earbuds when I can do all the above things with a pair of solid earbuds that cost me like $12 during the Obama administration.
  • Don't care about what kinds of headphones or earbuds people wear but don't like what it says about our society when other people apparently care what kind of earbuds I'm wearing so much they have send an Anonymous ask to interrogate me about it.

And I guess, more abstractly, because fuck Apple. That's why.

Hi I have a question about Pacific Rim. Given that the sparring is just A way to test for drift compatibility and any activity that requires people to collaborate and anticipate each others moves works, including stuff like multi player video games

  • Can you test for drift compatibility via improv comedy

unfortunately a lot of the corny self help advice turns out to be true but the thing is you have to come to those conclusions yourself otherwise it just sounds dismissive and dumb

Tiffany couldn't quite work out how Miss Level got paid. Certainly the basket she carried filled up more than it emptied. They'd walk past a cottage and a woman would come scurrying out with a fresh-baked loaf or a jar of pickles, even though Miss Level hadn't stopped there. But they'd spend an hour somewhere else, stitching up the leg of a farmer who'd been careless with an axe, and get a cup of tea and a stale biscuit.

It didn't seem fair.

“Oh, it evens out,” said Miss Level, as they walked on through the woods.

“You do what you can. People give what they can, when they can. Old Slapwick there, with the leg, he's as mean as a cat, but there'll be a big cut of beef on my doorstep before the week's end, you can bet on it. His wife will see to it. And pretty soon people will be killing their pigs for the winter, and I'll get more brawn, ham, bacon and sausages turning up than a family could eat in a year.”

“You do? What do you do with all that food?”

“Store it,” said Miss Level.

“But you-”

“I store it in other people. It's amazing what you can store in other people.” Miss Level laughed at Tiffany's expression. “I mean, I take what I don't need round to those who don't have a pig, or who're going through a bad patch, or who don't have anyone to remember them.”

“But that means they'll owe you a favour!”

“Right! And so it just keeps on going round. It all works out.”

“I bet some people are too mean to pay-”

“Not pay,” said Miss Level, severely. “A witch never expects payment and never asks for it and just hopes she never needs to. But, sadly, you are right.”

“And then what happens?"

“What do you mean?”

“You stop helping them, do you?”

“Oh, no,” said Miss Level, genuinely shocked. “You can't not help people just because they're stupid or forgetful or unpleasant. Everyone's poor round here. If I don't help them, who will?”

I'm rereading Hogfather for the first time in probably 15 years and I. Cannot believe I missed all the jokes about Hex the first time around. The "anthill inside" sticker. The ram skulls. The small religious pictures. Christ

Whoever made that post about rereading Discworld novels making you go "damn you Terry" while shaking your first at the sky, you get it

Okay i got the intel reference...and the icons....buts whats a ram skull

It's RAM, which is why I'm assuming he calls them sheep skulls most of the time because "ram" is almost too obvious haha
