“takaocchi that’s just plain mean!! can we just drop the subject?” for his sake? his last remaining drop of sanity? no? damn, he really brought this to himself huh. note to self: never tell takao about this kind of stuff ever again. “i’m not telling you more details, that’s private!! it’s not like i ask you about what you do with midorimacchi in your private time!” okay, but at least those two were already dating, not being dumb and just fooling around.
Well, that’s no fun! If Kise is going to burden him with the knowledge of him and Kagami eating each other’s faces off, the least he can do is make it entertaining to hear about. “All Midorima and I do in our free time is study,” Takao says, very seriously (not). He takes a very dramatic pause. “You know, study each other’s bodies and all that.” With a sweet smile, he blinks up at Kise. “I don’t really want to drop the subject, honestly. It sounds fun. If you shared the first part, the least you can do is share a few more details, right?” Yeah, sharing this kind of thing with Takao is never a good idea. “Or are you embarrassed to admit that Kagami is a better kisser than you?”

“you’re not helping”, it wasn’t staged. if it were staged then he wouldn’t be here freaking out in the first place! it was unexpected, out of his control. isn’t the type of person that needs to have control over everything and anything. but for once, he felt sympathy for people that were like that. “moving on… well, we kissed, he said sorry, i asked if he really was really sorry? he wasn’t”. more blabbering, at least kise finally calmed down from his initial despair. “and the rest… is history”, too much information already, gonna take the rest of the story to his grave. “i feel stunned”.
“History?” Oh, god, that’s what people say when they want to fast forward past something scandalous. Takao could go without the mental image of these two... doing things. Yes, his active imagination is now Kise’s fault. “Wow, congrats to both of you on all your history that you now have. Really happy for you.” He leans in, a bit of an evil glint in his eye. “So? Who’s a better kisser? You or the red devil? C’mon, now that you’ve made me hear the story, you have to satisfy my curiosity at least a little, right?”

midorima raises his book with a sigh, and continues to read despite attempts to derail him. science, science, long words-- now he has to reread a sentence because he’d made the mistake of glancing down at his boyfriend. stop that! or don’t. do? what does midorima even want right now? he chews on the insides of his cheeks ( to prevent a smile ) and returns to his book. it would be all too easy of a win to give into takao right away. science, science... oh, so he’s pouting now? takao thinks that will do it? midorima realises that he’s looking down again and quickly directs his eyes back up to his book.
“kazunari,” he replies blankly, in a tone he could use when greeting a slight acquaintance. despite the pretended emotional distance, he shifts so that he’s holding his book in one hand, and the other smooths takao’s hair BACK. hair back. hair. backwards. ( note: he would have simply run his fingers through but as they’re taped, they have a habit of snagging on hair. this is actually a consideration he took into account. )

oh, so he’s gonna have to recall how the events unfolded? okay then, so sorry to takao in advance. ❛ we were playing, a one-on-one. he wanted to let out some steam and i said ‘sure’, since i was also having a shitty week ❜, which he still kinda was gloomy about it but no matter, those were now the least of his problems! ❛ i was winning, then stupid kagami had the brilliant idea to do a dunk! so naturally, i tried to block it and it backfired so bad we crashed midair!! ❜ a hint of red was now appearing on his cheeks but no matter, he had to keep telling the story. ❛ h-he landed on top on me, somehow, dunno. i just know his face was too close for my liking and then it happened… ❜
“Wow, that’s quite the, uh, meet cute.” It’s said a little sarcastically, of course. Seriously, though, how cliche can you get? Falling on top of each other and kissing? That’s really cheesy, and Takao rolls his eyes. “Apparently your liking was liking it,” he says dryly, “if it happened.” A pause. “If Kagami wasn’t stupid, I would almost say that it seems like he staged the whole thing.”

does take a breath like the latter suggested, face was still in his hands. ❛ he’s just stupid ❜, the blond says again, this time with confidence, kind of annoyed too. ❛ do guys say ‘i’m gay, in case you haven’t figured out’ after kissing another guy? who the hell kisses a guy if they’re not gay?! ❜ oh yes, he was now going to rant. ❛ he also had the audacity to say ‘what are you gonna do? kiss me?’ while having the upper hand!! ❜ and that phrase was the thing that made kise loose his mind, making him weak in the spot.
“He... what?” Takao lets out a snort of laughter. “Maybe he thought you’re also as stupid as he is, and that you needed the clarification?” It’s kind of hilarious that he said that after the fact, though. Oh, by the way, I’m gay. Just picturing Kagami saying that is enough to get him chuckling again, and he places a hand over his own mouth to stifle the laughter. “Well he’s... competitive? Wait, what upper hand?”

“Yeesh, man, take a breath.” It’s said lightly, but he’s kind of starting to worry that Kise is going to hyperventilate and die? “Yeah, he’s pretty stupid.” No disagreements there from Takao! “Uh, what way do you mean?” He’s not sure he really needs to know the gruesome details, but how else can he talk the poor guy through it?

❛ no ❜, he didn’t, and with good reason! because his brain at that moment was still trying to process the fact that kagami had initiated the kiss. even just remembering the tension he felt at that moment made him shudder. ❛ i-i didn’t get the chance, how can one confess so easily? ❜ that and kagami had balls for brains, probably would take the confession as a joke and the thought just made the blond cry, internally.
“Ahh, I see.” Takao adopts a more sympathetic expression. After all, the only reason he’d sort of? confessed to Midorima was because they’d been locked in a supply closet like some kind of twisted romcom. Before that, he’d been prepared to sit on his feelings until he died! Sometimes he still feels that way, but he’s trying to grow out of it slowly. “Well.” Time to try a softer approach, then. “Do you think he returns the feeling, then?”
