My new a6500 came in the mail and I used my first shots on Palina, Varqa, and Chris during our double date.  I bought a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 mid-June and didn't order my camera until August LOL. Chris took me to a drive-in movie theatre the following day and it was both our first time going to one! I'm not gonna lie..I fell asleep..for both movies. Briefly. How long is briefly? You can interpret that in your own way.

I really like this camera. Its's small, snug, and autofocuses quickly. I also got it for a great deal. I think that also plays a factor in why i’m so satisfied. So satisfied that I didn’t even edit the photos.

The Diaz finally got to hang out with me and Chris! I've never really seen Isabel for more than 5 minutes in person and she's just a bundle of joy! A clever, silly 5 year old raised by very lucky parents.

I'm not saying I want a kid (yet) but I'm impressed by Gabe & Demi's parenting skills.

Woke up early on a Sunday morning and went to Niagara Falls (while we were in Canada, of course).  It was gorgeous, and I wish we were able to see it at night. But Chris and I had anniversary plans at a fancy restaurant so that wasn’t so bad.

Gabby and I spontaneously bought a DJI Spark even though we bought a DJI Phantom 3 Pro a few months ago. I think we instantly fell in love with the compact size of the Spark. It’ll be our little travel companion and our other drone will be our workhorse. The only downside to the Spark is that I can’t put it in my pocket because let’s face it: women pockets are some shit.

We received the Spark 2 weeks ago. I was originally going to test this out in Toronto last weekend, but we were too close to an airport. Also some shit.

Going to Chicago soon! Hopefully I can test it out there.

I can’t believe Francis is 4 years old! He’s getting taller each time I see him. I only see him maybe 3-4 times a year, but it’s better than nothing! I love him so much ugh. I’m sad he lives so far away. I just want him to stay innocent forever.

He and his parents came down last Wednesday to surprise my mom for her 50th birthday. She and my dad weren’t even home when we got there that evening. My sister surprised Francis with bubbles so I decided we should do a fun, little shoot to pass the time. And I’m glad we did!

My first travel video and I actually finished it! Chris, Joanne, Chinh, and I went on a spontaneous trip to NYC for the weekend and ate so much! But we walked a lot, so that’s okay.  All this footage was shot handheld and edited in Final Cut Pro X.  I’m experimenting with different things at the moment and I’m inspired to make more videos. Hopefully. I haven’t finished an actual video project since last November. I have much updating to do! A lot has happened since my last post but for now, let’s just start with this post.

I believe the first time I went to a pumpkin patch was in preschool. My memory is pretty fuzzy, so I probably never went. I haven’t seen @alandesu and @sarahissleeping since February(?), so we decided to have girl time and go to Cox Farms. We got legit pumpkin spice lattes and apple cider donuts.

We’re painfully basic.

Various Days Throughout July 2016 Oh shit. Here’s a recap of my summer. Minus my other ratchet, candid moments in August. If my friend, Gabe, didn’t call me out on Twitter an hour ago, I wouldn’t have updated until next month. Or the next.

I’ve actually been quite busy the past few months with work, new projects, and trying to fit in quality time with the baes. I look forward to the weekends now more than ever. I still can’t believe it’s almost November. Ew, I unintentionally rhymed.

I had my first PSL of the season yesterday. I truly am a basic little bitch!

Ramon texted me that afternoon and asked what I was doing after work. Gabby texted the same thing to me, so here I am thinking I’m Miss Popular. Turns out Ramon saved up a bunch of leave days and got out 3 months before his official end date for the military. I suggested we go to a hookah bar because the last time we went together was over two years ago. I also don’t smoke hookah often and it’s a special occasion to celebrate! Gabby met up with us and we went to Rice Paper in Eden for dinner. Whatever she ordered for us was DELICIOUS! It was basically a make-it-yourself-type springroll(s) where they laid out all the food for you. I overindulged, and I have no regrets. I’ll be back again soon to repeat past mistakes.

Also, Ramon proposed to Gabby at the end of the night. It was adorable! If only it wasn’t fake.

(I tested these photos out with my near mint condition Nikon 50mm f/1.8 Series E I purchased off CL last February. It was a bit challenging to shoot completely manual, but these lens were fast and performed well under low light.)

We made a spontaneous trip to Richmond.  We planned on going to Belle Isle, but it was sweltering hot and much too humid.  We looked at art instead and visited different shops. We finally tried Ardent Brewery and tried a lot of different food. It was a fat day.

April 9-10, 2016

We went to New York a couple of months ago for Chris and I’s semi-quarterly-mini-getaway. It was freezing and raining throughout that whole Saturday. Despite the weather, it was a pleasant trip. We arrived in the morning and stayed at a European-style hotel called the Orchard Street Hotel. It was a much cheaper rate compared to other hotels in the city, and despite how small the rooms were, I found it rather intimate and cozy. We stopped by Rise Coffee co., which was this tiny corner shop selling coffee less than a block away from the hotel.  I had the best cookies of my life from Levain Bakery and the original (and best) cronut from Dominique Ansel. The line for Levain Bakery was less than 20 minutes long thanks to the rain and the next day Chris woke up super early so we could finally try the cronut. It was worth the wait (for him LOL. I slept in). We went to Manila Social Club in Williamsburg for brunch and I got to see my best friend, Gina. They had this entree called The Best Biscuits and Gravy, and I’m a big fan of biscuits & gravy, so of course I had to get it.  Hot damn they really were the best! I was going to take a picture of it. But then I ate it.

I met my Australian cousin and her husband for the first time this weekend, and they are just the most delightful people!  She’s in her mid-30′s and it’s crazy to know that my dad hasn’t seen her father/his brother in nearly 40 years. That truly baffles me. I don’t mind seeing Carlo until another 40 years but that’s a different story.

I found out that the pronunciation of “naur” makes a perfect Australian “no.” I’ve been saying “naur” for the past day now. I am having a ball.

My mouth had the pleasure of devouring the best burger of my life. We went to Dice Burger located in Annandale, VA. I feel like I should finally write my first Yelp review but I probably won’t. I still dream about the mushroom swiss burger and the photo I took doesn’t do any justice. Anyway, Chris and I have been together for 11 months. Allegedly.

Gabe was kind enough to develop my Ilford Delta 100 B&W film for me. I never came around to it because the local CVS discontinued their C-41 process. This film was just sitting around for the last 2 years, and its crazy seeing how much my life has changed. The people I’ve lost touch with, the pet I’ve lost, and how fat everyone is now. Just kidding. Just Carlo.

Chris and I have been to 2 weddings together so far this year. This time, the ceremony was located in a beautifully decorated barn. I didn’t get to take a photo of the bride and groom because I didn’t really spend much time taking photos until after the wedding. Most of the time they were taking photos with the other photographer. At the end of the night when the bride threw her bouquet in the air, I had a fourth of it in my hand, but Chris’ other cousin wanted it more. As the last flower grazed away from my hand, I sighed in relief, realizing it wasn’t my time yet anyway LOL.

I finished editing the rest of Helen’s graduation photos and I had to return the following weekend to shoot her cap and gown photos. I didn’t have much time to stick around, but we ended the night by grabbing drinks at The Quirk Hotel’s new rooftop. The view was gorgeous!

Chris, our friends, and I took off work on April Fool's Day. Bloated from all the Korean BBQ we ate the night before, we headed straight to Philly. It was supposed to rain that day, but joke's on us because the weather was amazing. I didn't bring my camera, but luckily Chris did. He took the majority of these photos. I edited them. Much teamwork!
