“Yes, heroes do tend to work for free many times. That seems to be part of the job. In place of money you get support though.” He had both things though he was far from the heroic type.
“Forgive me but where have you been?”
that is all
He looked at the younger man. The features on his face softened slightly. The boy deserved to know the truth. Though it was rare for him to care.
“I knew you were not just human. Being alive as long as I have you learn to notice things. There is more to you than you think to the trained eye.”
He heard her and appeared in a moment. Looking at the object in her hands. Excitement evident in his voice yet he kept his composure calm and collected. Taneleer was not the kind of man who liked to show his emotions much. Preferring to stay calm and collected in many situations.
His home was gone and he wanted him to pay for his help? “Perhaps you would also like a new ship?”
“I understand and yes I am a mystery it would not do me well for everyone to know who I am. I prefer to stay know to only a few.”
He liked to be known by small groups of people who had need of what he could provide. The ones who knew where he was and what he did. Asgard had a few of those people on it.
“I am here on I suppose you could say a small vacation. Knowhere gets old after a while. I need to escape to less crowded places. Asgard happened to be picked this time.” He could have gone to Earth but that ran the risk of bumping into people he did not want to. She provided him with someone to talk to at least.
“I understand why you would question my motives.”
“Uhh, yeah, sorry your place blew up. Did you need some help, cleaning up?”
“Considering my home exploded. The repairs will be extensive.”
He turned to look at her with a small smirk on his face. Sooner or later he knew he would end up seeing her here. That was almost inevitable though her attitude surprised him a little. She seemed to not like him the first time they had met. That was what he had gathered at least. Perhaps things had changed though for all he knew.
“I have done nothing of the sort.”
He knew she was here and had prepared for the visit. Things had been secured away and locked down just in case. The most valuable pieces locked in cases that only a sun exploding could destroy. The infinity stone had been hidden and locked away far from here.
"What? Am I not allowed to touch it?"
“I advise you to touch nothing here ever.”
"So, I've yar Stone, where's the payment?"
“That we need to talk over and I would like to see it first.”
“Is there something I can help you with or are you just here to look?” He did not trust him to be left alone in the collection by himself. There was too much that he could break or worse. If he saw one thing out of place by the end of the day he would be very angry. That was one of the few things that could put him into a rage.
Asgard was a nice place to visit once in a while. Though he would not live there himself he enjoyed his trips. He always found something and people to talk to. There was a feeling of being out of place sometimes, though. Taneleer was different from other people. Though the people of Asgard shared more of a similarity with him than those of Earth.
The museum was oddly quiet with few things making any noise. That struck him as odd with the amount of living things housed in it. He walked down the long hall looking around and feeling as if something was off. Taneleer was not one to be taken off guard easily by anyone or anything. Constantly observing what was around him.
