Please Stop Scrolling!!!!

My name is Reb. I am 18 years old. My brother is turning 5 in February 2019. He has cancer. He was diagnosed with leukemia on August 2016. He is the sweetest boy you’ll ever see. He is such a strong fighter. He almost always had a smile whenever he was in the hospital for treatment. My mother has to drive out of the city an hour and a half one way to get him to the children’s hospital in Birmingham, Al. She is a single mother with 7 kids including me. My 4 younger siblings live with her currently. She works as a hostess at Cracker Barrel. She barely gets $100 a week. I have been trying to find a job to support her. Please donate or reblog to help cover hospital bills, gas, food, cost of living. I know you see a lot of these posts, but please even if it is $1. We need money form him, my kitten, the house. Our electricity will get cut off in 5 days…. I do t know how to make a post like this. I AM BEGGING EVERYONE. PLEASE HAVE KINDNESS IN YOUR HEARTS AND MERCY IN YOUR SOUL. If people donate, I promise I will pick back up my art supplies and sketch books and I will do a little drawing for all those who donate.

Its been 1 day and I’ve only raised $5. Just bevause you see a bunch of notes doesnt mean they’re donating. Not everyone can donate and I understand that. Those of you who can, PLEASE. Even if it’s a dollar.

PayPal hates me. (It’s mutual though) Id like to help. I just don’t know how. Any ideas??

@throwrocksatboys I have ko-fi, venmo, and a gofundme as well

They did a whole campaign with disabled and chronically ill models! (Source)

REPRESENTATION MATTERS!

In all of my fourteen years as a diabetic, I have never once seen myself represented in advertising. I’ve never seen those with crutches, colostomies, or wheelchairs, either, despite how many people live with those conditions.

I got so excited seeing this advertising campaign! Inclusive media is a huge step forward!!

Okay, but this is fucking huge and I hope to see more.

if you ask a right winger why a job like, say, sanitation worker has such an abysmal wage even though their job is necessary they’ll tell you that it is an unskilled occupation. we could contest that but for the sake of argument let’s concede.

by this logic, value is derived by how much labor is required to accomplish something, in this case the labor of learning the skill in addition to the labor of completing the task at hand. a doctor would earn a much higher wage because of the labor required to earn the necessary degrees to practice. okay.

but then if you ask a right winger why the price of a pair of glasses, a mattress, or even a bottle of water is so expensive, despite these things being cheap and easy to make, they’ll tell you that value is not determined by the labor that goes into it, but by need and demand.

this inconsistency reveals how neoliberal economics functions: the value of something means whatever is most convenient to the ruling class.

If you haven’t heard there is a literal massacre going on in Sudan.

People are getting kidnapped, arrested, raped and killed. This has been going on for a few days now but naturally there’s hardly any media coverage.

THE WORLD CARES MORE ABOUT AN EMPTY CHURCH IN FRANCE THAN HUNDREDS OF INNOCENT BLACK MUSLIMS DYING IN SUDAN.

There are a few ways to help:

Even if you can’t donate please help spread the news!!

Noirbnb….like Airbnb, minus the racism.

Black people inspire me everyday, the world gives us shit and we take it and turn it in to something beautiful.

Yooooooooooooo!!! I will be using! Lit!

Support my bro Stef and Noirbnb. For real. Not even saying that because he’s my homie. That’s a legit business and it’s for us!

FYI: They changed the name to Innclusive.

…If this post is gonna continue floating around and people really wanna support them, they should know that most likely they will not find noirbnb but they definitely WILL find Innclusive.

Noirbnb and Innclusive are two companies. Both services are active and easily found.

Reblogging this because a couple years later and people are still confused on this. The company started by my homie in the original story is still Noirbnb. The other company tried to start a similar company and named it Noirebnb. The two sat down and worked things out on the business end. Stef still kept the original Noirbnb name for his company, the other company (Noirebnb) changed their name to Innclusive. Both Black-owned, both accessible, and check both out. But Noirbnb did not change their name, they simply protected their name from being used by another company and had that company change their name.

As a sniper I was not usually the victim of a traumatic event, but the perpetrator of violence and death. My actions in combat would have been more acceptable to me if I could cloak myself in the belief that the whole mission was for a greater good. Instead, I watched as the purpose of the mission slowly unraveled.

Excerpt; During my combat tour I never saw the Iraqis as “savages.” They were a friendly culture who believed in hospitality, and were sometimes positive to a fault. The people are proud of their history, education system and national identity. I have listened to children share old-soul wisdom, and I have watched adults laugh and play with the naiveté of schoolboys. I met some incredible Iraqis during and after my deployment, and it is shameful to know that the movie has furthered ignorance that might put them in danger.

As a sniper I was not usually the victim of a traumatic event, but the perpetrator of violence and death. My actions in combat would have been more acceptable to me if I could cloak myself in the belief that the whole mission was for a greater good. Instead, I watched as the purpose of the mission slowly unraveled.

I served in Iraq from 2004 to 2005. During that time, we started to realize there were no weapons of mass destruction, the 9/11 commission report determined that Iraq was not involved in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, false sovereignty was given to Iraq by Paul Bremer, the atrocities at Abu Ghraib were exposed, and the Battle of Fallujah was waged.

The destruction I took part in suddenly intersected with news that our reasons for waging war were untrue. The despicable conduct of those at Abu Ghraib was made more unforgivable by the honorable interactions I had with Iraqi civilians, and, together, it fueled the post-traumatic stress I struggle with today.

soldiers speaking out like this is pretty rare. dont ignore this post.

and yet, iraq has yet to start recovering from a war that was started to benefit the american economy. im glad this soldier is going as far as risking himself by speaking out like this. if more were like this, id certainly respect them more.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT

I saw this thread on twitter yesterday, so mad. It doesn’t seem that…hard…to…market???

All you really had to tell me was that Gugu Mbatha-Raw was in it and I was sold.

Excuse me????

It looks like was released in April 2019, but it’s not showing at any of my local theaters. And this is the first I’ve even heard of it. Why even make something if you’re not going to bother promoting it?

HAWI: FIRST EVER ETHIOPIAN FEMALE SUPERHERO

“I’m trying to get the word out about the first ever Ethiopian, Female superhero, created by Etan Comics. The series is called Hawi and it’s available in both English and Amharic(official language of Ethiopia) translations. It’s produced by an all African team and happens to be the first of it’s kind. I’m assuming your blog deals with topics like this, and I was wondering if you could get the word out as well? I’m not in any way affiliated with Etan Comics, but I do care deeply about making sure this series is a success. (Seeing Ethiopians get represented like this means a lot to me as an Ethiopian-American myself.) It needs way more publicity than it’s getting!

It’s available for pre-order right now!” -  abriefinqure

“did chris evans actually jump that high to grab onto that helicopter in civil war?”

friendly reminder that chris vaulted with ease over chris pratt after just telling him less than a minute before that he would be able to clear him if he only put his head down.

I want a Celebrity Obstacle Course show where all the pretty people can show off their hard stunt work for us and also occasionally eat it, because they need to be humbled sometimes. The judges would be career stunt people, to give them visibility, because they work even harder. Shirts optional.

You wouldn’t even finish the phrase “Celebrity Ninja Warrior” before Chris would start jumping up and doing yelling “Me! Me! Pick me!”

Anyone know how to contact Netflix about this?

friendly reminder Chris did most of his stunts bc the stunt guys couldn’t move like him.

“One thing we found, too, is Chris can run very fast. He also has a very unique run. It’s almost a dancer’s run. And when we tried to double him for running, there was nobody who could run like him. They just didn’t have the same dynamics or the way he moves. He had to end up doing most of his running.”

“What we also found, is that we had gymnasts come in to do things, and Chris could do the same stuff that they could do, but it would look like Chris Evans. When the body doubles or the gymnasts or the runners did it, it just didn’t look like him. He has such a unique way of moving, and he could pretty much do all of his own physical stuff that wasn’t dangerous. Like this shot right here, we had a gymnast do this, and Chris actually ended up doing it better. That’s Chris here. He hops up on a tank and over a 12-foot wall. It looks effortless but it’s not that easy!”

“Chris worked his butt off for four months doing gymnastics and stunt training so in a scene like this he could go toe-to-toe with Georges St-Pierre and make it look really credible. Once the helmet comes off, 95% of that is Chris, except obviously for that massive aerial kick that he does. I think he did a fantastic job.”

The really cool thing about Chris Evans is that he’s a super talented, athletic guy. He retains things amazingly well. I mean, I’m blown away. I can show him a 15-punch fight two times, and he’s got it. - Thomas Harper, Stunt Coordinator, CATWS

Remember that before the Holocaust, there were 16 million Jews in the world. They killed more than a third of us.

Remember that pre-war Eastern Europe was a major center of world Jewry, and it had a thriving Jewish society with Yiddish theater, poetry, literature, art, and political activism. An entire society was destroyed.

Remember that before the war, a third of Warsaw’s population was Jewish. The vast majority of those Jewish residents were murdered.

Remember that Salonika (Thessaloniki) was a city in Greece that had a Jewish majority for hundreds of years. It used to be known as Sabatopolis – the Shabbat city – because before electric light, ships going by on Friday night would see a dark shoreline because the residents could not light lights. In the 16th century, it was known as the “mother of Israel” and was a center of Jewish life where Eastern European Jews would come to visit and study. Fewer than 1800 Jews from Salonika survived the Holocaust.

Remember that in Krakow, what used to be the Jewish quarter is now a tourist trap for the groups who come to look at what once was. The Jewish community owns several beautiful synagogues but only regularly uses one because there are so few Jews left. Without the tour groups who regularly pray with them, they would have trouble getting a quorum of ten men by the beginning of the Shabbat service. The other synagogues are museums now.

Remember what we lost.

Non-Jews can reblog this btw.
