dear people who support patrick kane, 

please stop responding to people who simply cannot differentiate a specific case from the general mold. please stop fueling the fire by sending hateful messages to people who fundamentally disagree with you and will not change their minds no matter what you say. please stop arguing with these people because, unfortunately, it’s not going to change anything. 

patrick kane was accused of rape. he was investigated. the DA found nothing to warrant charges against. the investigation found more evidence in line with his innocence than his guilt. the alleged victim accused him of raping her on his bed—none of her DNA was found on his bed. no DNA of his was found on her below her waist, none at all. the investigation was dismissed before any charges were filed against patrick kane. 

knowing all of this, you’re allowed to make a choice. you can choose to comprehend what the facts are saying and believe he is innocent or you can choose to ignore some very hard evidence that’s staring you in the face and pretend that this case is just like every other rape case and believe he is guilty on principle. 

no one is saying that it is wrong to side with the alleged victim when it comes to rape cases because, in a general sense, you completely should, as there are so few who normally do. but you have to understand that this isn’t a general rape case/investigation. this is a specific situation between a specific man and a specific woman. you are allowed to treat this case in a specific way for those reasons. 

the conclusion of the investigation wasn’t up in the air. it wasn’t all hush-hush and dismissive and convoluted. in fact, it was very clear cut and the evidence and resources used by the DA were made public, and the DA did a great job of explaining the entire process in multiple statements, press releases, and interviews. 

i need all those who support patrick kane’s innocence to understand that there is nothing wrong with your choice. please don’t let people make you feel bad for trusting the legal system in this specific situation. if you choose to believe in his innocence, don’t let people tell you it’s because he has cute curly hair or you just like his blue eyes or dimples or you just wanna ship him with jonathan toews and you have to make excuses for yourself—you are allowed to believe in his innocence based on the facts. 

there’s nothing wrong with that in this specific situation, so please don’t let anyone make you feel bad.

Giving back

So I was putting gas in my car tonight when I notice a man around his 20s digging through the trash trying to find something to drink/eat. Now must people say never to approach a stranger at a gas station especially at night but that thought never came to mind. I finished filling my tank and I looked in my wallet to see if I had any spare change to give to the man and sadly I only had a couple dollars, it couldn’t have been more than $10 but I told myself that a small amount can still make a big change. So without further thinking and getting weird looks from the old lady next to me I went up to the man and reached out my hand to give him the money. At first he looked scared and he told me he wasn’t doing anything wrong and I told him to take the money and buy himself something to drink from the gas station. Once those words came out of my mouth he smiled and thanked me a couple of times, I told him to have a good night and walked away. I know that I wasn’t able to give him a lot but I hope it helped at least for the night. I know how hard it can be in the position where you have little to no money… My family at one point lived on 50 pesos a night to try and feed two children and take care of them. Luckily for us our family and friends helped in anyway possible and because of that we have enough to live a good life. That is something that always stays with me because of how hard it can be. Some people may think of me as a spoiled 17 year old that drives around a Mercedes but I never like to be thought as that…my family worked hard for what we have and I hope one day to pay my parents back some how for everything they have done for me. In the mean time if helping some stranger out on the street get something to eat/drink is all I can do then I will continue to do that. Please keep in mind that some people aren’t as fortunate as you especially during the holiday season and give back.
