Aria mindlessly flipped through the channels in her and Ezra’s apartment on a boring afternoon. She’d spent most of the last couple days alone, not really wanting to be in the company of others. She wasn’t interested in watching anything on the TV, but the laugh track in the sitcoms served as background noise for her thoughts that were repeatedly bouncing through her brain. Was this even her place anymore? She had already started packing her belongings just in case. Nicole wouldn’t want to walk in to find her stuff scattered everywhere. It wouldn’t be fair to someone who had already suffered so much trauma. She twisted the ring on her finger, wondering if Ezra would ask for it back.

Ezra had called to tell her that Nicole was alive a few days ago. She hadn’t heard much from him since then, just a few texts checking in. She had no idea what–or who–to expect when he arrived home. She didn’t have much time to think, however, because moments later, the door opened and Ezra walked in with his suitcase.

Aria quickly turned the TV off and jumped to her feet, crossing her arms in front of her chest. She forced a smile, then waited a moment in preparation, expecting Nicole to walk around the corner. But she didn’t. “Where is she?” Aria asked him, hoping she sounded genuine.

He dropped his suitcase on the floor, then approached Aria and greeted her with a quick kiss. Aria was surprised. She thought everything would change, but somehow, it didn’t feel that different.

“She’s in New York, at her parents’ place,” he answered. “She has a long road to recovery ahead of her.”

“Is she okay?” she wondered. “Should I leave?”

Ezra lowered his eyebrows in confusion. “Why should you leave?”

“I don’t know, Ezra,” she admitted. “I figured this would change everything?”

He sighed sadly, realizing that Aria must’ve worried herself sick during the time he was gone. He was so preoccupied with the search and rescue, and the aftermath, that he had little time to reassure her. He cleared his throat, then scratched the back of his neck. “Once we were safely on our flight to New York, I realized I needed to be honest and told Nicole I was engaged. To you,” he explained. “She was a little shocked at first, but she was honest with me, too, and said that she wasn’t ready to be in a relationship again. She had seemed kinda relieved that I had moved on.”

“I’m sorry, Ezra,” she told him genuinely. Even if Ezra had moved on, even if he hadn’t planned on leaving her for Nicole, she knew it must’ve stung for him to hear that Nicole didn’t want him.

“Don’t be,” he said. “I’m very happy to be home. You know, when I was waiting in the hot and sticky jungle, swatting giant bugs every three seconds, I pushed myself through by imagining myself relaxing in bed, with my fiancée, and the cool air from the AC.”

She laughed. “Even when you say I turn it up too high?”

He nodded. “Yes, and when you steal most of the blankets after you’ve turned our bedroom into an igloo.”

Aria rolled her eyes.

“I never knew such a small woman could be a blanket hog.”

She cocked her head to the side and smiled. “Now you can look forward to a lifetime of sharing a bed with a blanket hog.”

“I’m looking forward to it,” he told her, becoming more serious.

Aria smiled, relieved that Ezra hadn’t changed his mind about their future. “We just have to wait a few months until we have enough saved for Tuscany, and then we’ll be married and wine tasting under the Tuscan sun before you know it,” Aria reminded him, wrapping her arms around his neck, then standing on her toes for a sweet kiss. “I like saying you’re my fiance, anyway.”

He nodded. “I’ve been thinking,” he said, causing Aria to raise an eyebrow. “I want to have a real wedding, with all of our friends and family. I’m really happy–we’re really happy–and I want to share that with everyone.” He would’ve been perfectly content marrying the love of his life in Tuscany, just the two of them, but he knew that she secretly wanted a big wedding. He didn’t want to take that away from her. “We’ll have plenty of time to be alone on our honeymoon.”

Aria’s eyes lit up. “Are you sure?” she asked, then creased her eyebrows. “Will you survive all the wedding planning?” She brought her hand to his forehead, pretending to check his temperature. “Are you feeling okay?”

He laughed. “I’ll survive as long as I get to see you in something delicate and lacy.”

“I want to find a new dress,” she thought out loud. “One that takes me a little longer than 12 hours to purchase.”

He smirked mischievously. “I wasn’t talking about the wedding dress.”

“Well, then why wait for the wedding?” she asked, grinning. “I can take care of that now.”

“You read my mind,” he replied, leaning down for another kiss.

She smiled into his lips. The intensity of their kisses increased as they made their way to the igloo. I mean, bedroom.

Yes, this was definitely still her place, too.

For better, for worse.

I think this episode really solidifies that Aria and Ezra are meant to be and would work really well as a married couple, and as a family. At first, she was a little self-centered and thought only how this would affect her. She quickly realized the depth of pain Ezra was going through, and put his needs above her own. I’m not saying that your spouse’s happiness should always come before your own, but in THIS situation, Ezra really needed someone on his side to help him through his pain. Aria realized she did something wrong and hurtful so she did what she could to fix the situation. Marriage isn’t perfect. People make mistakes. But the important thing is how we react to our mistakes, and how we grow from them. Aria made the right decision to help Ezra get to Nicole, regardless of how painful this choice was for her own happiness.

I think Ezra was reminded that Aria is still THE ONE when she came back with the plane ticket. The kiss says it all.

For better, for worse. Right?

Ezra made sure he kissed Aria and left on good terms because the last time he left someone angry he lost her.

OKAY, SINCE EVERYONE IS GOING BONKERS IN MY ASK…

Here’s my attempt to talk you off a ledge:

I honestly think the Jaria scene we see in the promo, of Aria and Jason in bed, is a flashback. The technical reasons: First, if you look out the windows, it does not look like Rosewood. The lighting of the scene is also a little different, suggesting a flashback. If Jaria were to sleep together for real, I somehow doubt that Freeform would reveal this in a promo. They usually like to trick you in the promos, like Noel hitting Caleb with his car. BEFORE YOU SAY THAT JASON HAS LONG HAIR, AND HIS LONG HAIR IS SUPPOSED TO BE NEW, do you REALLY think Drew would cut his hair for one scene? Doubtful.

The reasons related to plot: Aria is so in love with Ezra, and they’re engaged to be MARRIED. She is willing to put his happiness above her own. Regardless if Nicole is alive or dead, I don’t think Aria would go as far as sleeping with Jason. How horrible of a person would Aria be if she did that? (Okay, don’t bring Liam up.)

If ANYTHING happens, I think it would be a quick kiss, which she quickly regrets and pulls away from. I don’t even think this will happen. I know everyone is like, well, she ALWAYS kisses guys when she’s insecure. That was BEFORE the time jump. This is the final season and I honestly believe it would be a much more powerful story if Aria resists Jason and allows him to comfort her about whatever happens with Nicole. It would be great character development, not to mention very mature development for Ezria as a couple.

I could be wrong. I don’t exactly trust the writers either, especially Jonell, who loves Jaria. I’m not claiming to be 100% correct in my predictions, and maybe I’m just way too optimistic. So, even if something happens between them, DON’T FORGET THAT ARIA IS WEARING HER RING IN EVERY EPISODE UP UNTIL 715 SO FAR!!! Ezria are definitely endgame, and definitely getting a wedding. So whatever happens, it won’t matter in the end. Will I be pissed off if Aria cheats AGAIN? Hell yes! That’s just terrible writing. But somehow I believe that the writers are using this final season to give us real character development to contrast scenes in the past in which Aria and the rest of the girls made poor decisions. It would only make sense, and AS A WRITER MYSELF, I know how important character development is.

The writers have surprised me in many ways in season 7. Let’s hope they continue to do so.
