“ Kimono with Birds in Flight “, 1942 - période Shōwa jidai 昭和時代 (1926-1989).

Note :  Des dizaines d'oiseaux s’envolent sur ce kimono, recouvrant toute la surface et de représentations réalistes en couleurs saturées. Parmi les oiseaux figurent des grues (à l'épaule et à l'ourlet), des canards (y compris des mandarins à l'arrière de la manche gauche), des faisans, des moineaux et des hirondelles, ainsi qu'un paon qui entoure tout le vêtement. Ce spectaculaire kimono était parmi les robes portées par une mariée pour sa célébration de mariage, qui a eu lieu en 1942.

“The wife of Takeda Katsuyori”(1897), Adachi Ginko (active c.1870-1908)

The wife of Sengoku period daimyo Takeda Katsuyori (1546-1582) is depicted carrying a naginata during an attack. Her husband was defeated by Oda Nobunaga and had to flee, his wife going with him. However, Katsuyori was resigned to die and prompted her to leave. She refused and committed suicide with her husband.
