We swung out to Newport, R.I., yesterday to see the replica frigate l’Hermione, a French copy of the ship on which the Marquis de Lafayette sailed back to America in 1780. What a beautiful vessel! We didn’t get to go aboard, but we enjoyed the music and festivities surrounding her presence, and took the opportunity to tour Fort Adams (I’ll post about that later). The ship will be in Newport again today!
