Alan was my friend and so this is hard to write because I have just kissed him goodbye.
What I remember most in this moment of painful leave-taking is his humour, intelligence, wisdom and kindness. His capacity to fell you with a look or lift you with a word. There were no black storm troopers. They were white clones until well after the clone wars, the empire was supposed to be racist and theyre fucking over starwars to ‘fix’ it. Youre not fixing anything disney, youre pissing off fans by dismissing YEARS of the storyline. Would we go back and make a ww2 movie where there black nazis? No. It doesn’t work. It would have never happened that way.
Well, as a “fan” you’d know that After a while the clones used for the original storm troopers became obsolete, they stopped using Fett’s template, due to malfunctions and extremely rapid aging. So the Empire used DNA templates from hunters of different species and races to make a mixed army of storm troopers derived from a diverse group of warriors. And not too long after that, they started enlisting humans, of all colors, into the imperial army. Therefore making the “clones” an actual minority in the storm trooper branch. So there are people of all colors and species under those helmets. Including black. And have been since the aftermath of the clone wars. But a “fan” would know that. Funny thing…The ones that are REALLY pressed about black storm troopers are people like you…..look the same…..argue the same points…..use the same logic…..damn…..no wonder yall are defensive about clones.
The clones weren’t even white in the first place. Jango Fett’s actor, Temuera Morrison, is of Māori descent. Your faves were NEVER white. Deal with it, you racist pissbaby.

6 years later and avatar (the james cameron movie) is still completely incomprehensible to me. like you’ve got the highest grossing film in recent history and no one actually enjoyed it beyond “eh. it was okay”
Avatar is such a weird anomaly. It’s the highest grossing film EVER (not adjusting for inflation) by a huge margin and yet it left virtually no footprint on popular culture. It had its 15 minutes of fame to the tune of $2.7 billion dollars worldwide, and within a few years it’s like no one remembers it even existed. You only ever really see it mentioned these days in the context of its record-breaking box office.
