My art of a DnD Tiefling Wizard!

Commissions open!

Here's the description of the character:

race: Tiefling

class: conjuration wizard

sex: male

personality: he is a shy and reserved person. His backstory to help inform you of his personality and stuff is this: Grew up in an orphanage. The orphanage was well funded and well ran. He wasn't mistreated at the orphanage by the staff. He was picked on by the other kids because he was different. Part of that was being a Tiefling, and he also is very smart, so the kids picked on him. There was one incident that caused one of his horns to break. Because he was ostracized by the other kids he spent his time reading a lot. So where he is at now, he is nervous around other people, not confident in himself at all, and very shy/reserved.

age: 19

height: 5' 9"

weight/build: slim and frail

hair style/color: unkempt, black, shoulder length hair. Hair where if he was leaning forward like reading a book or just having his head down his hair would cover around his face almost like how a hood would.

eye color: yellow

skin color: red/red-orange

items/weapons: nothing in particular other than his spell book and a bag for it

clothing top: wears glasses, has nice-ish clothes. Nothing extravagant though. I attached some reference pictures, but I'm open to your interpretation.

clothing bottom: same as above

clothing bottom: leather boots. He has human feet, not hooves. Other than that, see same answer as above.

pet: barn owl is his familiar

other: see reference image for his horn style, but one of the vertical horns is broken off. See reference images for tail. His tail is not super thick is the main thing.

Breaking and Exiting | Magical untensils to break into and out of any situation

PDFs of this and more can be found over on at my Patreon here! I release everything for free, so your support makes this possible. I'm working on a new class for 5e! Follow the Kickstarter here!

Welcome to the new month, a combo theme of fortress and escape. While the intent for these items were to escape, they, admittedly, also work to infiltrate a fortress. Ha! Perfect segue between topics :)

Adamantine Battering Ram

So, the trait of adamantine weapons, besides bypassing damage immunities is that it autocrits structures and objects, like doors. Well, it makes sense then that you'd want an adamantine version of an object all about breaking down doors.

Counterfeit Skeleton Key

Doing things in alphabetical order is amusing sometimes. This is, as the name implies, a replica of the artifact in this list. Because of course you want a magic key that automatically unlocks any door. Did steal the idea of several conceptual versions of this item from media consumed long ago that I no longer know where it's from where it moulds itself to the lock it fits into and stays like that. Or I hallucinated that memory, I honestly couldn't tell you.

Inconspicuous Crate

A Metal Gear reference, haha! Also coincidentally not the first mind altering box I've made, huh.

Instant Hole

So, the robe of useful items potentially includes a window or a pit that you can just slap onto the ground or a wall, but that's the only way to get such a marvelous item. I thought it might do to make an actual item out of it. Yes, this is based on the portable hole from Who Framed Rodger Rabbit. I just couldn't name it such, because apparently that item already exists but isn't really a hole. Now is it?

Mithral Lockpick

I miss masterwork thieves tools. I also find the general lack of improvements for the most used tool a little odd, actually. It's not much, but it's nice.

Skeleton Key

Behold! The most common fantasy magic item in existence. Including the item of the same name from the elder scrolls that I borrowed some of its abilities of (AKA the unlocking of potential), and pathfinder's "Perfection's Key" which I borrowed the destruction method of. Strangely, the closest item 5e has is the chime of opening, which is a temporary item and loud. Neither of which I would recommend for sneaking.

And now to plug my stuff. I release homebrews weekly over on my Patreon. Anyone who pledges $1 or more per post don't have to wait a month to see them, and also help fund my being alive habit.

At the moment, they have exclusive access to the following:

I also have three classes, and a splatbook over on DriveThrueRPG to check out:

BEHOLD MY NEW FAVORITE BLORBOB ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฆ†๐ŸคŽ

This is Dolfus Hound, a frog that a fae decided for whatever reason to give the gift of Realizing the Difference Between Good, Evil & Chaotic and immediately wanted to become a (Folk) Hero, and even though Dolfus only has like 9 HP Dolfus tries Dolfus' best and believes in you the way only a Chaotic Good froggy can. Dolfus has a big weakness for beer (and pampering Joyous Day teehee).

Dolfus can understand and write Common and Sylvan but can't speak. Joyous Day, Dolfus' trusty and faithful steed, is a female wood duck (if you can tell lol).

I really wanna try goin on an adventure with Dolfus 'n Joyous Day, but I'm already busy with another character so I guess Dolfus will have to wait (booo).

Also I have no idea what gender to make Dolfus and frogs are Neat Like That so I guess Dolfus is Dolfus' single pronoun.

58. Gary Gygax - D3: Vault of the Drow (1978)

The culmination of the D series of adventure modules takes players all the way to the Drow city ofย Erelhei-Cinlu deep in the underdark where they get to finally face the ones responsible for the Giant Alliance above ground, in case they didn't kill Eclavdra at the end of G3, that is (if they did they are supposed to find that she has been cloned).

There is always a tension in adventure modules between making them too loosey goosey and putting little effort into the story being told and being too railroady and not leaving any discretion to the DM. This adventure falls a bit into the first category, while Gygax invents some truly awesome encounters (the Succubus garden being particularly great) and greatย settings with the detailed vault and city of the Drow, he doesn't really bother that much in connecting those elements. The players get a moody amazing sandbox to play in but little direction as to why they should play in that sandbox. So the DM is going to be thinking very fast on their feet or is going to have to do a bunch of prep work to lead the characters from point A to B to C.

By the end of the adventure characters will find one of the most famous demon queens in D&D, Lolth, the Spider Queen of the Elves, the largest "dungeon" within the module being her fane. However, Eclavdra isn't working for her, she is actually a servant of a rival of Lolth, so the logic behind this boss battle will have to be made up by the DM as there is no indication of it. Should the players manage to get transported to the Abyssal plane where the true Lolth resides they would have to wait for a couple of years to continue the story in 1980 with Q1:ย Queen of the Demonweb Pits. I'll get to it eventually.ย

I recently participated in a raffle and won the Fallout TTRPG for roll20. I went over the rules, and I liked most of it, but I know my players and they will get overwhelmed with the tracking of ammo, mods, and perks.

I also have some issues with some of the rules like the skills, but that's a discussion for another day.

For the past year, I've been adapting the system I published to other games just for the fun of it. I've made a few posts here about them, but I tend to keep to myself if there's no much interest. This is a DnD account after all.

That said, I did a d20+PbtA Fallout adaptation a loooooong time ago that I'm currently revisiting. If that's something you'd be interested in seeing, let me know.

โš”๏ธ ๐—ก๐—ฒ๐˜„ ๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—บ! Deathmetal Axeโ€จWeapon (greataxe), very rare (requires attunement) ___

This adamantine axe is covered in narrow cracks, which periodically erupt with harmless, magical flame. Along its haft are four strings: plucking a string creates a deep, bone-rattling resonance from the axe. If youโ€™re proficient with lutes, you are proficient with the โ€œdeathmetal axeโ€, and you can play it as if it were a lute. You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, as well as on any Charisma (Performance) check you make with it. Whenever the axe hits an object, the hit is a critical hit.

๐˜พ๐™๐™–๐™ง๐™œ๐™š๐™จ. The axe has 7 charges for the following properties. It regains 1d6 + 1 expended charges daily at dawn. If you take 10 or more lightning damage and then use one of the axeโ€™s properties on your next turn, the number of charges required by the property is reduced by 1.

๐™Ž๐™ฅ๐™š๐™ก๐™ก๐™จ. While holding the axe, you can use an action to expend 2 of its charges to cast either the โ€œshatterโ€ย or โ€œthunderwaveโ€ย (2nd-level version) spell from it (save DC 16).

Whenever you take the Attack action with this weapon, you can expend 1 of its charges to replace one of your attacks with a special performance. When you do, make a DC 16 Charisma (Performance) check. On a success, you create an instantaneous wave of sound, which affects creatures within 10 feet of you; friendly creatures within the wave immediately gain 2d6 + 2 temporary hit points, and hostile creatures must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or take 2d6 + 2 thunder damage. When you roll a 20 on the Charisma (Performance) check, the radius of your wave increases to 30 feet, and the number of temporary hit points gained and thunder damage dealt is doubled. A creature is immune to these effects if it canโ€™t hear the performance. The wave then fades. ___

๐Ÿ’Ž ๐—ก๐—ฒ๐˜„ ๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—บ! Ring of the Koiโ€จRing, rare ___

While wearing this ring, you can breathe underwater, and you have a swimming speed equal to your walking speed. In addition, you can swim up waterfalls; doing so costs 2 feet of movement for every 1 foot you move.

๐™ƒ๐™–๐™ก๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฌ๐™š๐™™ ๐™’๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง.ย You can perform a special ritual over the course of 10 minutes; doing so requires the โ€œring of the koiโ€ย and a golden basin worth no less than 100 gp, which must be filled with water. At the end of the ceremony, you drop the ring in the basin. The ring is then destroyed, but duplicates the effects of the โ€œhallowโ€ย spell, centered on the basin of water. This version of the spell uses the Courage option for its extra effect. When a creature finishes a long rest within the spellโ€™s area, it gains the benefit of the โ€œring of the koiโ€™sโ€ย other effects for the next 24 hours. ___
