the L in LGBT stands for Liam
It has come to our attention that a non-verified version of the interview Liam Payne did for Attitude is making the rounds on the internet, in which Liam allegedly says that: “when the law changed in the US there were loads of rainbow flags flying at our shows, but i think that was mainly because people think of the Louis and Harry thing (that they’re secret lovers) which is absolutely nuts and drives me insane.”
As many (including Attitude magazine, which featured us after the OTRA show in Dubai) know, Rainbow Direction is an initiative by and for LGBTQ+ fans and supporters.
To keep the focus of our campaign on LGBTQ+ fans, and to make everyone - regardless of what they ship, or of whether they ship at all - feel welcome and included, we have a non-shipping policy .
During the WWA Tour, 405 people participated in Rainbow Direction. For the OTRA Tour, that number is currently 3238 participants, with 1506 people coming out to the North American leg alone. While there are people who bring rainbows to ship their favourites, we feel comfortable claiming that the vast majority of rainbows during the OTRA tour have been brought by our participants - to show pride and to support the LGBTQ+ community.
As the official online release date for the interview is announced for Friday September 11, we are waiting for confirmation about the credibility of the article currently making the rounds and will make an official statement when we have all the facts.
