Nesta stayed with Elain, putting aside her own trauma for her sake to look after her, but when she needed the same love and understanding, Elain abandoned her for the comforts Feyre provided.

Nesta put aside her own trauma to help with war efforts, but it's never brought up again.

Nesta is most likely the one who cooked and cleaned and looked after the cabin, and who thanked her?

Nesta is the one who demanded their neglectful father be held accountable for his failures, but, instead, that burden was forced onto her.

Nesta is the one who demanded Rhysand be held accountable for lying to both her and Feyre, only for Feyre to turn around and laugh at the idea of her being punished for something Feyre said herself, that she isn't mad at.

Nesta endured verbal abuse at the hands of Feyre's new family, let them stare at her like a zoo animal, and didn't comment on it.

Nesta would've gone into the blood right after Emerie and Gwyn, laws be damned, to save them. She would've done it for any of them, only for them to decide she's fine and leave her there. Did they worry about her while she was there? Azriel didn't seem worried. Neither did Feyre or Elain.

That's not even the half of it. Nesta loved so much, with her whole heart, and not a single person could give it back to her. Not one. How tiring, and heart breaking must that be for her? The thought alone brings me to tears.

Ugh, was having a great time mocking my recently imprisoned rival when I noticed the camera positioning makes it so that I appear behind the bars, thus framing me as trapped in a metaphorical prison of the narrative, now my whole day is ruined. Fuck.

i often think that a lot of people facillitating the discussion about the 'necessity' of nesta's intervention always seem to fundamentally misunderstand what exactly is wrong with it

anytime someone shifts the conversation to the 'ends justify the means' ideology- a red flag goes off in my head; anytime someone makes any of these statements...red flag:

because...these statements (and those adjacent to them), always seem to misrepresent what the problem is. its one thing for the inner circle to cut nesta off, for mor and rhys to hate rhys, for feyre to want to get revenge; its an entirely different scenario for the inner circle to put themselves personally in charge of nesta's wellbeing. like....they staged an intervention, they locked her in a house and did not allow to leave without an escort, the tore down her home, they locked in a home with a man she verbally and consistently reiterated she wanted nothing with.

OP, I understand your confusion but that was very much a real event! Turns out that tabaxi was the Shadow Cat, the familiar of the Nightmare King who was actually an ancient goddess of Sylvaire who was transubstantiated into a disease. She could only be seen by people who had her disease, which was transmitted through various bodily fluids. The Court of Stars has also been putting out statements lately saying that they and other members of the Fallinel government worked with the Shadow Cat, but had nothing to do with her plot of trying to bring back the Nightmare King, since she apparently worked with them as well.

Please understand that I missed the bottom of this post on my dash and scrolled past like 4 more posts trying to figure out how they were Fantasy High related

If I'm honest, I kind of like that Rhys got mad at Nesta for handing out the mask, because I think it highlights a fascinating dynamic they have--That Rhys either doesn't fear Nesta enough so he thinks he can control her or he fears what she can do so much that he's trying to assert himself.

It was mentioned a few times how Rhys thinks he's this king figure, that he's a bastard. He was mentioned like he was getting on Nesta's nerves, and immediately Nesta's like "I'll do what I want." She sounds annoyed. But Nesta has this great big power, even if it's smaller than before, and she has all of these weapons at her disposal, and Rhys has... nothing in comparison. Rhys has his sister in law who's flighty at best. He has Cassian's ties to her, but Cassian doesn't really seem to be able to do anything. He's not even there, and that is his mate. What can he really do but stand in the middle wondering who he should side with? Azriel can't do anything, but watch and stand close enough to grab her. Amren can't do anything, but keep her away from information. Feyre can't really do anything nor tries to stop her. At best they can only keep her away from things or mold her with guilt, but look, she ends up in the middle of it all. She gets more weapons. She discovers more power.

Nesta is literally on the precipice of power. She can be a tyrant or a powerful ruler, but she probably can't just be nothing. She has too much. She is overwhelmingly good, but she can at any moment take over the world. Or she can tricked by someone else. Or she can use her powers to save the people she loves, consequences be damned. She can assert her own perspective, without consulting anyone at all, like she did with handing the mask to Bryce.

In fact, Rhys getting outrageously upset, makes so much sense, because... I think he fears her--fears what she can do, even if she doesn't mean to do something wrong. Isn't that so fucking cool? They have to trust that she won't do something so wrong that they all die, but should they really do that? Should they really trust a 26 year old girl who doesn't like to listen to them and never follows rules?

I find it unfathomable and astounding that Tumblr isn't more obsessed with Sam Reich. You're telling me there exists out there a man who was born into the aristocracy of our country—with every privilege of modern society at his fingertips—who didn't complete high school (due to his mental health) and instead chose to devote his life to making strangers laugh and raising awareness on mental health. But forget about all that (I could talk for a long time about the respect I have for Sam Reich)—ignore just how respectable he is as a businessman and a person. Ignore all the wholesome reasons for obsessing over Sam Dalton Reich.

Whenever Sam is on the set, you can guarantee he is going to make you crack a smile. And for someone with such natural authority, he's never afraid to be the butt of a joke and show himself being embarrassed. No, unfortunately. Not also Harry Potter movies. In fact, while I was making that post, one of the specific examples to the contrary that I had in mind was Harry Potter: what used to be a beloved childhood property and era-defining piece of media that was now just too painful to revisit or want to be associated with for various reasons, not least (but especially) JKR's attacks on the LGBTQ community and especially trans people.

I am sure you didn't mean any harm by this inclusion, but this post was only about the LOTR movies, and not just an open invitation to add various other pieces of media. Especially, as noted, not in this case. I'm old enough to have been a tween/teen as the HP books were coming out, saw all the films in the theaters, attended book release parties, stayed up until 4am to finish Deathly Hallows, etc. It was once the same kind of comfort media where I could return and enjoy at any time, but it's... not that anymore. At all. Unfortunately. Not necessarily due to the media itself, but what has happened around it in those 20 years to shape and reshape our perceptions of it, and make it into something that I have now let go of and do not revisit as a conscious choice.

By contrast, the LOTR movies continue to be incredibly and uniquely comforting. They can in fact be revisited at any time and especially to help me feel better (such as right now). I watched them heavily during the 2020 election season and have done so again now. Gandalf's "what we do with the time that is given to us" is still one of my main mantras for Getting Through The Shit. There have been no exterior scandals or creator toxicity that have destroyed that experience, such as there were with HP and which completely cut me off from that intellectual property as a queer/gnc adult. That's why I felt that it was truly surprising and to their credit that the LOTR movies (regardless of their various flaws/quibbles about book-to-screen adaptation/literary criticism of Tolkien's work) have held up so well as necessary and vital pieces of storytelling that I return to for comfort in hard times, and HP has.... not.

shiv was not being altruistic nor intellectually self-interested when she voted against kendall. that was pure raw visceral desperation to maintain some semblance of dignity that she felt kendall being ceo would shred her of. sometimes people do not act in other people’s best interests or their own best interests. sometimes people do the wrong thing for the wrong reasons just because it feels like the right, the only, thing to do. shiv could not let kendall be ceo. she just couldn’t. not because she wanted to sacrifice herself to “stop the cycle,” not because she made a calculation and decided tom was her best interest — because the thought of kendall being ceo and acting like That the rest of their lives when shiv earned that job, she fucking earned it, that was too much to fucking bear. watching him sit in dad’s chair, conduct that vote, grin with entitlement and cockiness and certainty — seeing that elicited a visceral painful all-consuming sensation not dissimilar to overwhelming nausea that, summed up in two words, would simply be: fuck. no. she couldn’t live with that. she just couldn’t. it’s not kind. it’s not smart. it’s just human. painfully, destructively human. because sometimes, that’s all there is to it. not just for shiv, but for everyone. god knows roman and kendall have had those same feelings, made those same self-destructing yet necessary-feeling decisions throughout the show. why does it have to be different for shiv? why can’t she be painfully destructively human, prone to impulsive ill-conceived viscerally felt actions, like everyone else? why are we incapable of allotting her the same nuance and humanity (the good and the bad), the same trauma-informed self-destructive life-ruining hamartias, as we do her brothers? why can’t we fit a whole woman in our heads?
