“You never told me you played,” I said. Still entranced by the music, even just the memory of it fading to silence.

Their face twisted and they shoved away from the instrument as if it had done them personal injury. “And you’re eavesdropping. Get out!”

“What - I mean - but it’s beautiful - you don’t have to be embarrassed, you-”

“I said,” something dangerous crossed their expression next. “Get out.”

Today we learned that gravity is a fine musician. A team of Japanese filmmakers constructed an incredibly long wooden xylophone along a steady slope in the middle of a beautiful forest in Kyushu in southern Japan. Once the awesome instrument was built and carefully tuned a wooden ball was released at the very top. As the ball rolls down the xylophone it strikes each wooden bar once, producing a single note, performing Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring“ accompanied by the gentle sounds of a peaceful forest:

To learn more about how this clever forest xylophone was made watch this behind-the-scenes video:

Amazing.

🍀 ‘Felix Felicis’ Drink 🍀

inspired by jk rowling’s “ Felix Felicis “, a potion-drink to bring you luck

“One tiny bottle of Felix Felicis,” said Slughorn, taking a minuscule glass bottle with a cork in it out of his pocket and showing it to them all. “Enough for twelve hours’ luck. From dawn till dusk, you will be lucky in everything you attempt.”

🍀 gather:

  • 2 cup milk (or milk substitutes)
  • 1 tsp dried turmeric
  • 1 tsp dried ginger
  • a pinch of pepper
  • honey to taste

🍀 heat the milk on medium heat

🍀 add spices

🍀 stir frequently until it simmers. don’t let it reach a boil.

🍀 turn off the heat. cover and let sit for 10 minutes.

🍀 consume warm. add honey

HEY WITCHES, MAGIC HURTS SOMETIMES.

This is a picture of my blistered thumb, burning and itching and causing me a lot of pain. This is also a picture of a pure silver ring that has held up since 1892. Eighteen freakin ninety two. Cracked in half. Let me explain.

About 3 weeks ago, I cast a spell over this ring to absorb negative energy around me and store it until I could release it on deserving assholes and/or banish it entirely. Just about 3 days ago, my thumb started burning and hurting like crazy. I took off the ring and saw that my skin had started blistering and cracking. Now I gotta take a second to say that I’ve worn this ring for 2 years straight on this same finger and never had an issue.

So I thought nothing of it, I put ointment on the blister and moved the ring to another finger. The same day, the ring just straight up cracked in two. Solid sterling, never broken from the 1800s, just randomly cracking. Not a coincidence.

I determine this is caused by the absorption and swelling of the negativity I’m surrounded by day by day. This blister, this broken ring is a physical manifestation of the existence of magic in its most toxic form–the storing up of negativity.

I cleansed the ring and sent it to the jeweler for repair. Cost me fuckin $96 too. So yeah, just be aware that if you act in haste or don’t take proper precautions, your magic can hurt you. Be careful lil petals! And always use protection :P

Dude. Wow. I was just thinking of charming a ring with energy absorbing powers. Uh, duly noted!
