Incase anyone isn't aware, people on tiktok started #blockout2024, where every day there's a list of celebrities (& brands) to block across all social medias. You can find reposted videos about it on twitter. The hashtag only has 2 posts on tumblr so idk if non-tiktok users know about it at all.

Essentially it's protesting against celebrity culture and their refusal to speak out on the Palestinian genocide by removing your view/engagement/ad revenue. It started from distaste over the detachment from celebs during the met gala, as far as i can discern, but there's probably people with a more cohesive timeline than i. It is about anti-complicity but people are also engaging in wider talking points about idolism, capitalism etc
