Take Root, Bear Fruit
The surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root downward and bear fruit upward. (2 Kings 19.30)
I hope this verse gives you strength in your obedience and perseverance in your daily walks with God. There will be days when PDA will be very difficult, and the obstacles of life will tempt us to stray away from this form of Biblical worship. Let this be an encouragement to you all, when the fight gets difficult.
We can draw one simple principle from this verse - Organic Consistency
For a tree to bear fruit upward, it must establish its foundation by taking root downward.
So is the same case for us. As we are worshiping God through PDA, we are taking root downward. Our foundation in the word of God is accumulating steadfastness and strength daily, if indeed we are commiting ourselves to worshiping God through PDA, daily.
Therefore, take heart when PDA may get dry or difficult. Persevere, push, endure; our adversary will do all he can to draw us away from the One we love.
* Take root downward by praying to God, asking Him for strength.
* Take root downward by anchoring in the word of God, which is your oxygen.
* Take root downward by being sharpened and sharpening your brothers in Christ.
However, this is perhaps one of the most satisfying warnings one can receive - you may not see your fruit as you desire. Why? God determines the revealing of the fruits of your labor because He will always supremely be the Lord of the Harvest. The fruits will only glorify God and never man, if the man is firmly rooted in God.
Thus, focus on the depth, and God will determine the breadth.
