So I’ve been living in Miami for about a year now. Greatest city in the world if you are a single man. Wow.

Anyway... this director I’ve been working with REALLY likes Steely Dan. Like REALLY.

I’ve never heard of them before. Didn’t sound like I would like it.

Sure enough, that shit is lame-ass 70s jazz fusion with a bunch of white dudes making no sense.

And he plays it every day. And this is a feature so it’s not like I’m getting a new director in 8 days like you do in TV.

All the time, he plays this stuff. They help him think.

And it’s torture.

But after one day comes another and then another and then another.

And now I’m starting to groove to this shit.

Someone help.

Like what a lovely endorsement to imperialism, but he is wrong. To begin with Italy didn’t even exist in 1492. It was a series of competing states not as powerful as consolidated nation-states such as France and the soon to be Spain (back then Castile, Leon and Aragon). However, “Italy” did produce many outstanding individuals in the sciences and arts including explorers. Christopher Columbus was from the Italian Republic of Genoa and “discovered” the Americas on behalf of the Spanish Kings.

The reason is not that the Italians didn’t value explorers and navigators but that they were busy fighting each other, bluffing each other, and trying not to get absorbed by Spain and France. The reason is that the Italians didn’t have the circumstances to consolidate power in a central authority in the region like France, England and Spain did.

So nice seeing Neil endorse early modern imperialism and not even being historically accurate about it. I wish hard science nerds would stay in their lane and shut up about political history. This nigga should be researching why his ego hasn’t destroyed us like a black hole would.

Supporting free trade is simply a matter of taking no action when another person exchanges in non-violent exchange with another person. That person may be right down the street, or that person may be in another country somewhere. No “free trade agreements” or other paperwork of any kind is required. To oppose free trade, on the other hand, is to engage in the imposition of fines, prison terms, and other sanctions on people for engaging in non-violent exchange.

Attention Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump, et. al.

OK, I’ve officially lost all sympathy for Sanders.

Thanks to Bernie Sanders’ decision to vote for the bombing of Yugoslavia I think a lot of white people now know how it is to live in poverty

to be fair, Bernie Sanders is an incredibly stupid person
