• there’s some sort of confrontation, Mycroft and Sherlock start arguing about the new “Maryoriarty’s” case and Mycroft says he’ll intervene when it’ll become necessary and Sherlock just snaps “so you’ll just sit and watch like you did in–” and he cuts off and Mycroft raises his voice “I had to make sure he wouldn’t kill us both!” and John is like “what are you both talking about?” and Mycroft looks at Sherlock and asks “you haven’t told him?” to which Sherlock doesn’t reply and has the Sad Puppy™ face and Mycroft just goes “Oh, Sherlock…”
• they’re alone and there’s this tension and you know stuff happens and they kiss or maybe John just like that runs his hand down Sherlock’s back and he feels them and he stops and just looks incredulous at Sherlock who immediately takes a step back and tries to ignore the matter but John keeps insisting and demanding the answers and Sherlock keeps silent until he finally erupts, “And what would it change if you knew? Tell me, John, I want to know. Would you have stayed? Would it have stopped you from marrying her?” and after it all settles between them John whispers, “I need to see them. Please, show me them.” and Sherlock just looks at him, his gaze piercing John and eventually he slowly, without saying anything, takes his shirt off and says blandly, “Then look.” and then you know (crying and kissing involved)
• also it could be like something happens and Sherlock is taken to a hospital again and John just sees them and when John asks brokenly why didn’t he tell him Sherlock avoids his gaze for a couple of seconds until finally meeting it, and John can see the tears in his eyes, and Sherlock says “because it doesn’t matter”
• it could start with what John knows - the gunshot scar. maybe one day he’ll say he wants to see it and Sherlock will be reluctant because “why, what for, it’s unnecessary John, it’s a regular gunshot scar you have one yourself” but then he’d finally agree and he’ll take the shirt off and John will first notice a small part of the scar on his arm and without hesitating he’ll quickly stand up and look at Sherlock’s back and he’ll be speechless and Sherlock will quickly dress up repeating “it’s really nothing, John, that was ages ago and it looks worse than it felt, really it’s nothing” and John will just say in his angriest voice “Who did this to you?” and Sherlock will lower his gaze and John will say softer “Answer me, Sherlock. I need to know. Please, answer me.” and Sherlock will say quickly still not looking at John, “A couple of people. The one on the scapula is from Serbia. The ones below from Russia and Belarus. I don’t remember the others.” and John will just sigh “Oh, Sherlock…” and hug him and run a hand down his back and then he’ll also kiss his lips and everything will be beautiful and heartbreaking
