Do you think it's possible for a demigod to have dyscalculia instead of dyslexia?
I know I said this blog was inactive but this popped up in my inbox anyway so here I am - yeah it’s totally possible. I’m admittedly not up to date on the PJO verse - I’ve only read through to the first trials of apollo book, so idk what really happens there, BUT. Yes, as seen in HOO with Frank being lactose intolerant but not having ADHD/being dyslexic.
ADHD + dyslexia are explained in PJO lore as being due to the fact demigods brains are hardwired for greek/roman, and have battle reflexes. Depending on the power of a demigod however, they may have other prices to pay.
Such as Frank’s fire and lactose intolerance. He doesn’t have ADHD + dyslexia but larger issues to balance out his immense power. I think the introduction of Frank in HOO slightly changed the lore, at least for me. It’s partially about the amount of power they hold and balancing them out - it seems as if demigods conditions worsen as their powers grow.
I think it would be dependent on their powers and other issues in their life, but yes I think a demigod could absolutely have dyscalculia instead of dyslexia.
Past that, demigods can totally just . . . have disorders past ones caused or in correlation to their godly parentage. So if for whatever reason you wanted to imagine a demigod with dyscalculia . . . they exist.
