Caliux walked through the woods, his head tilted back as he looked through the branches to the dark sky above, starts twinkling as the occassional shooting star passed as well. He sighed to himself as he returned his head to a normal position and continued walking, his hearing picking up the hissing of the demons that lurked in the forest, suddenly the blast of a shotgun echoed through the trees, prompting Caliux to rush to the source to find a dark haired girl standing over a grounded demon with a shotgun pressed to the demon's temple.

"What are you doing?" He asked without thinking as he got the females attention....

"What are you looking for? Like.... What he looked like? Things he told me?" She asked, a brow raised as she headed to a shop downtown to get a few supplies.

"Physical attributes?" She questioned as she tried to think. "What would be most helpful to you?"

"What are you doing?" He asked without thinking as he got the females attention....

She locked the door, her bag over her shoulder before she turned to look to him, green hues bearing into his as of daring him to try and pull something. She was no stranger to creatures of hell.

"What do you want in return for helping me?" She questioned.

"Don't you dare tell me nothing. I know nothing is free. Especially not revenge."

He smiled as she asked what his intentions were as she stood infront of him.

"My intentions, hmm suppose you will have to wait until I tell you won't you? For now, you wanna get in the car and drive, find somewhere we can begin?" He asked.

"I'm not going anywhere with you until you trll me what you want," she stated, standing her ground.

"I'd rather chase my own god damned tail like I was before than to have you doom me to hell or some shit...." Not that she thought heaven was an option. She just knew most deals with demons ended your life in ten years or less.

"The experience? I mostly wander around earth alone, causing mischief then moving on over and over and over" he rolled his eyes as he looked at her.

"So maybe an adventure? Maybe even a fight" he shrugged as he walked down the steps and opened the car.

She didn't believe a word he said, but she moved to the car none the less.

"If you want to go after him, we need to know how to kill him. He's not an average demon," she stated, turning the engine over before backing out of the driveway.

When she came back down, she was fully dressed, her hair done, and her normal red lipstick perfectly in place.

"I don't plan on staying here, so you either get your things and leave, or you come with me. I don't care, but you aren't staying here," she stated.

"I'm locking this house and its ghosts back up."

He looked back at her noticing his clothes in her hands. "Find anything interesting in them? Don't lie and tell me your curiosity didn't get the best of you" he smirked as he got up and took them from her, changing into them.

"And where exactly do you plan on going? You can't take him on..no chance, he will slice through you even more than he already has" he added as he fixed his clothing.

"No, not really," she stated, handing them over. She saw what he was doing. That he was trying to get her to move for Ryat. Take steps to exact revenge.

"I don't know why you've suddenly taken this interest in Ryat or in making me more pissed off than I already was, but I'm gonna go back to hunting the same as I have been until I find out how to kill this bastard. I don't have a death wish."

"What are you doing?" He asked without thinking as he got the females attention....

"Well I didn't know that til I tried, did I?" She questioned, setting her nearly empty mug aside.

"You've been asking all the questions, so I want to ask one of my own," she stated, getting to her feet.

"Why are you still here? You taught me your lesson. You could easily be on your way."

He watched as she put the mug down and stood up, taking in her figure as she stood before him.

"Why am I still here? Hmm..perhaps its because there is something intruiging about you..I feel it..the fire in your belly.." he said as he also stood up, face to face with her.

"You want to get stronger...you wish for him to pay..the one who marked you...cut you open, slicing like ribbons..treated you like a piece of meat and then branded you as his own.." he kept her eyes on hers at all times, watching her twitch a little as the anger built inside her.

"Or am I wrong?"

"Of course I do. I want him to pay, but I also want to stop this from happening. I want to save other people from a fate like mine. There's a lot I want," she stated, moving toward the stairs.

"Well, regardless of why you're staying, stay down here and out of my room. I'm gonna go take a shower," she sighed. She didn't like that he could feel so much radiating from her.

He couldn't help but smirk as she told him. "You want much more than just to make him pay...you want him to suffer...like you did, like your family did..or do those graves out back mean nothing?" He asked, twisting at her emotions. "Yeah I noticed them, you buried them after you found the bodies I assume, or what remained...the blood all over you as you finished your last burial..oh the time it must have taken to scrub it from you, followed by the burning of your wounds as you showered, freshly marked by him.."

He turned to her as she went to leave the room to shower. "Payback, Revenge, its all the same..." he lay back down on the couch in his boxers.

His words burned into her mind and she let out a growl. She wanted to slap him. To smack the smirk right off his face, but she didn't need him hurting her again. Instead she let the coil in her core grow tighter with anger before she stepped up the stairs, locking the door to her room.

She took her shower, slinking down into the tub as she sat there letting the water hit her. Tears welled in her eyes before something in her chest felt like it broke loose, emotion flooding her as she cried.

In truth, she didn't know. She didn't trust him, but she didn't hate him.

"Would it have done me any good?" She chimed back, emerald hues going to him. They were both sitting there half dressed and she couldn't help the bemused chuckle that left her lips. On the outside looking in, this would habe painted a much different picture of the night before.

"You showed me mercy by healing me, so I showed both kindness and self preservation by not continuing a cycle of pain," she muttered.

He noticed her chuckle as he looked at her, his eyes locking with hers as he questioned why she didn't try anything.

"You never know, you probably have a lot more tricks you can try no?" He asked as he continued to observe her. "I showed you mercy because I did not wish to kill you, only punish for attempting to vanquish me or whatever you intended with that holy water" he replied as she muttered at him.

"I could just as easily snapped your neck and left you hanging there if I wanted to couldn't I?"

"You could have. In fact I told you to," she replied a bit coldly.

"I would rather be dead than be a chew toy. As for the holy water, I just wanted to see if you were a demon. Most hellish creatures react negatively," she responded.

When she woke the next morning, Onyx stretched gently, the day before settling over her like a nightmare she couldn't forget. She rolled over, her eyes finding the creature before her asleep in the floor as promised.

Her eyes traced over the scar on his back, lomg and jagged.

She swallowed thickly. It was a pain she understood. She sat up slowly, slipping from her bed before she crept quietly down the stairs to make coffee.

Caliux woke up, stretching before sitting up and noticing Onyx wasn't in bed, he walked downstairs and found her sipping her coffee while sitting on the couch.

"As promised?" He asked as she had obviously stepped over him to leave the room.

He sat across from her as she sat there in the pj bottoms she had picked out and the bra he had stripped her too, his eyes scanning her scarred torso again.

She felt judgement in his gaze. Whether it was real or not though, she wasn't certain. She hummed as she swallowed a sip of bitter coffee. She almost always drank it black.

"I was surprised to wake up this morning to be honest. I was almost sure you were going to kill me," she muttered, hands around the warm mug.

"Theres coffee, if you want it since you don't seem to be leaving."

He got up and helped herself to some of the coffee, pouring it slowly before walking back to the couch.

"I didn't kill you..and I have no plans too either" he stated as he sat back down and took a sip of coffee. "Can't help but notice you didn't wake me?"

"Why would I? If you were asleep you couldn't hurt me," she muttered pointedly.

She didn't trust him yet. She had empathy for him though, and that made him even more dangerous.

"That and honestly some people are a force to be reckoned with when they're woken up. I know I'm one of them. I didn't want to face more of your wrath."

"If its all the same, I don't want to share," she muttered, taking a step back from him. She needed space. She needed to feel like she could breathe.

"I'm exhausted, and I'm sorry, but I.... I don't know what you expect from me. You just tortured me...and now you want me to think you give a damn?"

"Share...the story..." he uttered as his blue eyes met hers with passion. He hadn't seen scarring like this since back in hell.

"You tell me..or I invade your mind and I watch it all back myself.."Caliux said softly as he looked at her.

"Two options.."

Onyx bit her already sore lip before she took a shaky breath. She felt like her heart was open and bleeding for him. She detested feeling vulnerable.

"I.... I was at a friend's house for the night. The night after the biggest ballet recital of my life. I got accepted for a full ride scholorship to the Lincoln Performing Arts Center in New York. My friends and I stayed up too late and so the next morning I was late coming home," she stated, taking a moment to collect her thoughts so she didn't cry.

Her hands clenched and her nails dug crescent moons into her palms.

"My parents were dead when I got home. Not just dead, mutilated. My brother was missing. I was broken, and scared, and alone. Fast forward a few weeks, I met someone out of the blue that really helped with my grief..... Or I thought he did. Ryat made me trust him, then he gutted me like a fish. Over and over for months."

"So.. Ryat murdered your whole family? And then imprisoned and tortured you..why?" He asked.

'What is so important about your family?" He furthered his question as he looked over her, taking her hands carefully and unclenching her fists. "Im sorry but I can't heal those scars...they were inflicted by true darkness.." he sighed as he let go of her hands.

"But..you escaped?" He asked.

"It was me. Not my family," she muttered, her hands moving from his the moment he touched her. He'd been so rough before. He'd been a step away from murderous, and now he wanted to be gentle...she had no trust in his touch.

"At the time I didn't know it, but I've got a legacy to uphold caused by hundred year old blood magic. My great great whatever sold my soul to hell," she explained.

"He tortured me to wake something in me. I don't know what it was. He told me if I survived after he left me for dead, I had a destiny. He left me, and I survived."

He watched as she backed off from his touch which he sort of understood. "Trust me if I was going to hurt you again I would have done it.."

"Do you know why your soul was sold? In return for what? And yes you survived but not without him leaving some reminders especially the R on your thigh. He tell you why he left that?" He asked as he continued to look at it, a more prominant scar than the rest. "Almost like he branded you.."

"I already told you, he said I was his. He wanted me.....he wanted me to remember it," she stated closing her eyes.

"I don't know what the bastard got in return," she mumbled, her voice obviously strained from screaming. That and she was tired.

"What I do know, is that he told me over time my soul would die."

"Your soul will die? Soul's don't normally die?" Caliux said as he looked at her. "You are exhausted..go get some sleep"Caliux sighed as he looked at her. "You need some water too.." he added as he looked into her eyes.

His name was a little familiar to Caliux. "So because of a deal you got this?" He sighed.

“Yeah, that’s the jist of it,” She muttered before she moved toward her closet to find pajama pants to slip on to hide her scars once more.  She was still on edge, but exhaustion was quickly winning out.  “You really think I’m going to sleep with you here?” She scoffed.  “Next time I wake up you’ll have me strung up again....”

"I won't have you strung up Onyx, i will literally wait right here" he said before sitting on the floor right by her door.

He sat there and leaned his head against the wall with a sigh. It was obvious she was comoletely exhuasted. "I can heal wounds, not exhaustion so you sleep now okay?" He asked as he looked at her.

“I won’t have you strung up Onyx, i will literally wait right here” he said before sitting on the floor right by her door.
He sat there and leaned his head against the wall with a sigh. It was obvious she was completely exhausted. “I can heal wounds, not exhaustion so you sleep now okay?” He asked as he looked at her.

She didn’t trust him. She didn’t think she could, but she was so tired it didn’t seem to matter as much anymore as she padded into the bathroom in her bare feet. She had a glass she kept by her sink and she took a drink of water before she went to bed. She didn’t turn out the light, thinking for whatever reason she’d feel better about him being there if she didn’t.  Fear hid in darkness she supposed, but soon, she was asleep.
