About Fetish Work and Style

Some of the things I am about to type may ruffle feathers. Some people might feel I am pointing fingers, judging, singling people out…. and some people might think I’m talking about them. Trust that as I embark on this post and as my thoughts tumble out of my noisy little head and through my fingers and onto this block of text you see before you that I do not hold in my mind specific faces or names to my feelings. Just an over all blanket emotion of the work I have seen over the, oh god, roughly 8 years of being in this industry and the many years before that in which I was simply an avid watcher of this world. From my many years of following the works of photographers and models, from journeys through the internet and coffee table books. I have so many opinions and I am not out to hurt feelings but raise an awareness of what I feel in my heart of hearts as a model who is breaking out more and more into the photography industry (as well as the sex work industry) and what I have seen from my peers and my betters.

I strive to set apart the work you see me post from much of what I see shared online. Much of this comes from working with Hollow2.5 and if you want to talk about someone who bends over backwards to separate themselves from the norm, it’s Hollow. When I consider doing shoots there are many factors…. obviously my own tastes and interests are a forethought. I want to create content that shows who I am and what I am into, how I envision the world and the art I work to embody. Coupled with that thought is “but will it be well received?” Being an artist is all about being an artist, but it’s hard to be a successful artist if you don’t have an audience. It leads to a lot of sacrifice, a lot of compromise in our work. Doing what we want without alienating our followers. We as artists also find ourselves pandering to increase traffic. This is the hot thing right now, let me capitalize on it. You’ve seen me do it, Margot Robbie’s first images as Harley hit the internet, the world was all abuzz over Harley Quinn and it was the right time to release my own Harley cosplay shots. It’s just good business. I find myself playing a balancing act of putting out the concepts I want to do and I am excited for and keeping an aesthetic and genre that I am known for, hailed for and loved for. Much of what I do for me, that stems from my loves and interests, push many of you away. Oh if I had a dollar for every time “I wish you didn’t have that mask/whatever on, I can’t see your face. It freaks me out that your face is covered.” But will I stop?? Of course not, I will continue to shoot in masks and hoods, I will continue to conceptualize these aspects because it reflects myself and my interests. I try to keep these things spread out over more favorable work that garners a wider audience.

I’m delving more into fetish and kink work. This is a strange pool for me to dip my toes into and this is where I think feathers might get ruffled. I have for years been hesitant about doing work based in fetishes and kink, not because of the taboo aspect, but because I am largely disinterested in what the market has to offer for these genres. Keeping up with fetish and kink tags online for photographers and models I see work that is lack luster, it’s kink for kink’s sake but it isn’t fashionable, or stylish, or conceptual or impressive. Too much of the work being shared is just a fetish thrown in our face with little thought given to a more artistic approach. BBW images, for example…. “here is a big, curvy woman in front of my camera doing nothing other than being a big, curvy woman. It’s just her, her rolls and her curves and her breasts standing before me in front of a plain wall or a basic setting. Then I will not even edit this image except for maybe the lighting and I will throw it up for all the internet to have access too. She is nothing more than a big, curvy woman.” Where’s the love for that big, curvy woman? I want to see BBWs with high fashion hair styles, or decked out in jewels, or set in beautiful landscapes. I want more than just this woman standing there with no pose, no thought and no care given to her by the medium. Celebrate her the way you’d celebrate any other model. YES, she’s a BBW and YES that’s a huge fetish but give that fetish and that woman some damn love and respect. Treat her as more than a big woman, treat her as a big BEAUTIFUL woman.  Latex work gets my goat a lot, as someone who loves latex fashion. I follow a lot of latex blogs, I click on every latex blog that pops up in my suggestion forum on here and I avidly go through pages and pages of latex archives and all too often the photos start and end at the latex. Models can have bizarre faces that the photographer ignored because they were just staring at the latex… or the shot is poorly lit. Much of latex work is done in front of blank canvases and I’d love to see more latex shots in interesting locations or studios. Yes, I am here to look at the latex but the model should look her best, that is the job of the photographer. Pick the shot that makes your model look their best, not tired and ever so done with this shoot but, hey, the light bounced off the latex perfectly so no one will notice how her face is snarled and her bags under her eyes weigh ten pounds. But we notice, at least I notice.  I see a lot of the same shots over and over from different photographers. Rope play that is designed and shot at the same angle in practically the same location. Fetish and kink shots using the exact same accessories and toys a million times.  I want more when I shoot fetish and kink work. I want a foot fetish image that is more than just a foot shoved in your face. I want all of my work to reflect a quality and a style that I (and Hollow2.5, naturally) am known for. I want my kink images to live up to my glamour and nude images. I want ball gags that look like things (I found some heart shaped ones that I died over) and I want rope work like you’ve never seen before. I want to express the world in a higher style, I want it to be kink AND fashion. I want it to be fetish AND glamour. I want it to have brilliant and unique lighting, I want it to have angles no one thought of. This is why you’ve seen little fetish and kink work from me, because I would rather do 2 fetish shoots a year and for them to be absolutely mind blowing and original than to have endless content but it’s all shot in front of a wall and feels stagnant. I am also willing to take the time to wait it out until I can invest in the more visually appealing accessories and toys than go to the sex shop and grab every run of the mill thing you’ve seen in every one else’s shot. (Yeah, you can figure it out, this is a large reason why you see me promote Bad Dragon so much. They have entirely specialized and unique sex toys and I find it an utter breath of fresh air. They also pander to my dragon fetish.)  So is more fetish and kink work on the way from myself? ABSOLUTELY. Will there be more to see on NookieCutter.com ? You bet your sweet ass. But I will not just push out content for the sake of having it out there, not for anything I do and especially not for fetish and kink work. The genre needs so much more artistic thought put into it, it needs to pull away from the contrite. It’s one of my main ambitions going forward into my career, to provide stylish, quality and unique fetish and kink content.
