I really, really like this scene because a. it’s really pretty when Eret leaps and the ice falls and shatters behind him in a cloud of steam, BUT ALSO B. because Toothless shoots the branch of ice instead of Eret and his men. Toothless could have easily shot at Eret and killed him, which probably also would have provided enough of a necessary distracton, or shot at one of the two side towers where archers and harpooners were gathering. But no, he shoots at the ice, causing it to fall and for everyone to leap aside. Toothless deliberately shot at the ice instead of at the men. Toothless is not a killer.
