All I can think about is how nervous/excited/holy shit I am about college. Like I’m moving out in 5 days. Wtf. It freaks me out.
I wanna grow up but I’m scared to be old
I’ve listened to the song on repeat for an hour and have been crying ever since I would say 25 seconds into the first listen.
hamilton lyrics that get me
- america, you great unfinished symphony, you sent for me
- you’ve married an icarus, he’s flown to close to the sun
- even before we got to ten, i was aiming for the sky
- history obliterates; in every picture it paints, it paints me and all my mistakes
- raise a glass to the four of us; tomorrow they’ll be more of us
- when my prayers to god were met with indifference, i picked up a pen, i wrote my own deliverance
- forgiveness. can you imagine?
- you have no control who lives, who dies, who tells your story
Donald Trump comes under fire for unknowingly tweeting a Benito Mussolini quote, and he may have more in common with the fascism founder than he realizes.
if you ever think history isn’t an important subject just remember that my friend’s solution to poverty was to “just print more money”
Well isn’t it?
tell that to the weimar republic
[horrified german screaming in the distance]
Ok so many people may not know what this is about. After World War I in Germany the country was pretty much bankrupt and on top of that they were being forced by the allies to pay restitution for the war. In order to try to fix these problems the Weimar Republic which was the government that took over after the war decided to just print more money. Because of this the country faced hyperinflation which basically means that everything became majorly expensive and the money was pretty much worthless. This is a picture of a man that is literally carrying money around in a wheelbarrow because that is how much money it took to pay for things:
These are some children playing with stacks of money because they were cheaper than toys:
And here is another:
So in short no you cannot fix poverty by printing more money.
My favorite is that there’s this story my history teacher told us (one of the best teachers I’ve ever had, really inspired the love of history in me) that once a woman was carrying around a basket of money and left her basket outside for a second. When she came back, someone had stolen the basket and left the stacks of money because the basket was actually worth more than all the money in it.
George Washington: I’ve been entirely preoccupied by a most frightening experience of my own. A couple of hours ago, I realized that my body was no longer functioning properly. I felt weak, I could no longer stand. The life was oozing out of me, I lost consciousness. Billy Lee: You fell asleep.
This is the best news I’ve seen all day
The fact that Burr actually said those words sort of astounds me… The level of research Lin must have done for this show is just… Well done.. I know there are some historical inaccuracies but things like this. I’m actually speechless because that lyric always blew me away and I just can’t believe Burr went from saying he should’ve shot him in the heart, to the world was wide enough.
Who knew history could be this interesting?
I didn’t think Hamilton could get any better and then the new Ham4Ham came out and I was proved wrong. I’m going to go watch the video about a hundred times and then draw all the Ladies in their Ham outfits
Like the kids say, this is my aesthetic.
Tony Awards 2016 gonna be like “HAMILTON WON THE OTHER 51!”
