The best week of my life in ##TheScriptFamily

(written about a month ago)

I still can’t get over the fact that the best week (yet) of my life as part of this family has already ended. It started with their stint in Pinkpop Festival in Landgraaf that I had to drink coffee while waiting for several hours for the interview and livestream. The periscopes before their performance – staying with them while the signing session was happening, touring around the place, and checking Glen’s drum, all these real time happenings shared with us was enough for me to know how much they love this family. Although we’ve had several periscopes before they go onstage, the Pinkpop one is the best! It was worth wait as we’ve witnessed another WHOLE gig but in a different perspective, on stage with the lads. For me, it was an indication of things to come for the upcoming Croker gig, especially which they were going to stream it live around the world. In Pinkpop, they gave us a lot of things we will never forget like Danny’s Peek-A-Boo, Mark’s “dickwasher” and Glen taking care of #TheScriptFamily while playing the drums. I know that we’re all beaming with pride when we saw photos of Glen beating the hell out of his drum set while his iphone stands right beside him. That is just one reason why you will fall in love with this band. You do not have to push yourself to love them, you will fall for them spontaneously, and you will never get up. Although it seems to be a routine for Glen to do a periscope every time they will arrive to a new concert venue like the Luxembourg, you would still love it ‘cause like what I said before, it’s like touring around the world with them, the whole family being with them. We even went on board a ship with them, sailing across the English channel, counting down the days to their biggest show yet, getting gaga over instagram and twitter because all of them were online. This family is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I am just so glad to be a part of this army that really goes down like a brick when someone throws stones at the lads. And while we all wait for the biggest celebration, we’ve done our own simple things of remembering how these three young Dubliners took on the world. You probably watched videos of their gigs for the nth time, or you went back to their posts years ago, or you made GIFs of precious moments or watched and laughed with their old interviews. And then again, you will realize how far they have become and yet, they are still down to Earth. It’s just pretty amazing. We all get hyped by their selfies in Croke Park. (I swear I had to imagine myself if Glen was talking about some real bride in his selfie.) How we were there in the press conference, witnessing how Mark rocked it and how special we felt when they were talking about spending time with us on twitter. We also saw how happy they were while doing a sound check with the kids. It’s like seeing little Mark, Danny and Glen. And who wouldn’t love that time when twitter was getting painted with green (thanks to Marjorie) that it even made its way to the lads and they challenged us to make it greener, a little more than 24 hours before the concert. And with a notification from twitter, amazing NSWS-themed photos of them were released and made us even more excited! (I still need Glen’s solo tho!) I guess the best part of painting twitter green was when @thescript changed their icon, too. (Even on their instagram!) It was simply amazing and beautiful, personally, it was magical. I just never thought it will happen. Time is really a ticking bomb as they did the 24-hour countdown on facebook. It became my own clock, it’s my way to know if an hour has already passed. (But remember when George posted 13 hours left when there’s only four!) I seriously didn’t think that they would do periscopes before the gig anymore, but hell no, they still did, Glen showed their room, their wardrobe cabinet that has nothing, pointed to us where’s the toilet and let us took a last glimpse of Croke Park before it gets filled. And it kicked in, they’re about to play the biggest gig (yet) of their career. While waiting for the lads to play, we cheered for Colton, who’s in all black which I loved so much. You see, Colton is also part of this family, and I swear I am a bit nervous for him as he walked his way to the stage with his band. I am so glad for the crowd there that cheered for him when all I can do was sing along to his songs in front of my phone while watching the periscopes. The One is my personal favourite and I love the version in Croker as much as the one I saw live two months ago. And when they hit the final note, I couldn’t help it but be also proud of Colton. Our Colby just slayed opening Croker.   Three more hours to wait. We were counting every minute, staring at the screen as every second goes by. It felt like counting down to New Year’s Eve, like a new chapter in our lives was about to come. We couldn’t help but think of the lads being emotional. We tweeted nonstop about #TheScriptCrokePark and pulled it up the trending list. In Philippines alone, we made it the no. 1 trending topic before the gig started. And so, they went live, thirty minutes before the lads’ entrance. You can feel it. And when the green smoke appeared and they started showing the opening video, I can’t help but jump in my own bed. But I stopped. I stopped when the lads came in and walked their way to the stage. I cherished every single step they took, every wave they made. I am so proud of them. They have made it this far. The gig itself is something we wouldn’t forget. From the green flags, the crowd singing Breakeven, learning to fly like Superheroes, the We Cry sing-off, feeling Danny and Mark’s emotions while singing If You Could See Me Now, Mark’s speech before Man on A Wire, the last time we will have the prank call for Nothing, Glen in his all-time high spirit in acknowledging the support acts, the most-awaited band photo, the Good Ol Days that went like “I got the whole world singing yeah singing this song”, that proud moment again as they walked to B-stage, feeling loved as they sing Never Seen Anything Quite Like You, Danny can’t even talk before singing The Man Who Can’t Be Moved and seeing how emotional and grateful they were while singing it, Danny being a nightmare to the security in You Won’t Feel A Thing, Six Degrees Of Separation that got some new lyrics, the “Ohhhhh” in It’s Not Right For You, the “We are The Script, born and raised in Dublin, Ireland” before the encore, the fireworks every time they sing “We could all be blown to pieces” in The Energy Never Dies, the crowd singing For The First Time’s chorus, the laser lights in No Good In Goodbye, and everything in Hall Of Fame – from Danny’s speech, the constellation, the confetti showers, Glen beating the hell out of his drum set, to the fireworks. Up to the moment they took a bow before their home crowd, I couldn’t help but be proud of them and fall in love with them even more. Every single thing about this concert was simply perfect. I can’t describe how I feel. Danny, Mark, Glen, Ben and Rodney slayed it. I think I have to nurse another post-concert depression. It may have been another ordinary and boring week for others but for me, it was the best week of my life. Danny, Mark, Glen, from the 63 of your friends and families who showed up to your Sugar Club gig years ago, to the 82000 people who went to Croke Park and 13100 who tuned in to the livestream, we are #TheScriptFamily and we’re beaming with pride, feeling and showing all the love for the best band on Earth, @thescript!
