Please be careful...

□□□□□□ Hh..? Oh, hello. My name is Boggle. I raise calves in zone 1. My eyesight isn't too good. The cows are kind and don't let you walk into the plastic sea by accident. □□□□□□ My name is Bumble. I've been banned from using the stairs and .. um.. oh, I...sweep sugar in zone 3. I like my broom a lot so, uh, please do not hide it. □□□□□□□□□□□□ {This is an ask/RP blog for two elsen pals.}

“I…” She tucks her arms tight to her body. “…no, that’s supposed to be that way. It’s a burn. Permanent. Not the dangerous kind. Hhh, don’t worry about it.”

So there was two of them, and she was fine. “This isn’t Pentel. What are you doing here?”

“Ah… well, we usually have lunch together when our schedules per…permit it.” Boggle stood, unsure with what to do with the napkin. The Five Second Rule certainly prohibited reuse of the item. Boggle wondered briefly if it was his place to mention the medical bay in Damien to get the burn examined, just to be safe. There was no doubt that an active burn could impede productivity.

“We were on our way to the cafeteria but uh, the arrival of the monorail has been delayed for some reason. A detour was in order, yes.” Bumble adjusted his tie absently. “Do you happen to know the source of its… its absence?”

She blinks rapidly at them both. “What are you taking about? What are you saying, hhhh, what. I don’t understand. What cow? What sandwich? I’m trying to make sure I’m not seeing things!” Her voice wavers, reaching a hysterical pitch as she bats the napkin away. “Don’t play with me!”

“Oh! Apologies, it appears that I have been m-mistaken. It…it seems you were correct to begin with. There are two of us here.” Bumble fidgeted, eyeing the two apprehensively. Perhaps it only counted as three when the cow wasn’t between two slices of bread. He took note of this.

Boggle nodded as he attempted to decipher the location of the napkin on the floor. “It is the lunch hour for employees of Pentel so I just… I brought a sandwich and uh- ah, there it is- some napkins.” He crouched down to pick it up. “For some reason it gets terribly sooty here in Zone 3 and uh… it seems you have a bit on your face.”

“Is there two of you? Really? Please tell me there’s two.”

“Uh… yes. Definitely. I mean, um.” Bumble frowned for a moment before looking back towards Boggle to make sure. A look of horror spread over his face upon seeing the crumpled plastic bag in Boggle’s hand.

“Well… I may have been mistaken. Sometimes there is also a cow or, er, in this case- a sandwich,” he admitted.

Boggle gave him an odd look before squinting over at the other elsen. He gave a small gasp in surprise at the freckles on their face.

“Here… here you go,” he said, offering a napkin from the bag.

“I think that... that our friendship grew over time. You never know where um, where a listening ear might take you.”

“Yes. Hh..we used to count the spots on the cows over... over lunch breaks.”

Cows and Elsen

The Judge bristled as Bumble nearly tripped over him, but thankfully the Elsen avoided doing so just in time. Once the cows had trampled past, the feline couldn’t help but immediately start grooming himself…It was a fast and furious cleaning, but his arms and sides were clean now, in any case. Looking to Bumble, his ear twitched, “Clearly…” he said lowly. He never really spent much time with the cows… Needless to say, any activity from the creatures other than standing around and chewing their cud came as a surprise to the feline.

Zacharie chuckled as a calf approached him, turning and waving his hand at its nose. “You don’t want to eat that, friend! Neither of us will be very happy in the end.” He patted its little gray before stepping towards Bumble. “Now, about those ties…”

Sugar meanwhile let out a long squeal of pure joy as the cow approached, her feet dancing lightly. She peeked around Zacharie to get a good look at it, smiling all the more widely when he stepped aside. “Hello, cow!” she sang. Holding out a hand for it to sniff, she giggled as its cold wet nose touched her palm. She was such a kid!

Boggle came out with some hay, and Sugar gasped with glee, “I’d love to!” she took a fistful and gave it to the calf carefully, doing her best to avoid getting her hand bitten. Her giggling didn’t cease as the cow licked the hay from her hand, and continued to lick it as if to ask for more.

"Zach!" Sugar chimed, "You should feed the cows, too!" she grabbed another fistful of hay, and scratched the calf’s ears as it ate, "It’s fun!"

“Un momento, por favor,” Zacharie spoke. He pulled his bag from his shoulders to find the ties easier, “I’d like to make a sale, first!”

The Judge slowly approached the calf himself, sniffing at its legs and hooves. He jumped back a tad, fur bristling as it suddenly turned its head and mooed loudly, “Gracious me…” the feline whispered.

Bumble stood with a small smile, hands clasped in excitement at the thought of obtaining a new tie. After all, that old one had been getting a bit shabby. Though the thought of someone else finding it and perhaps even wearing it didn’t sit well with him. What if people began to mistake that person for him? The notion stewed momentarily before Bumble realized that he needed to provide payment to the good merchant for a proper transaction to take place.

“Oh… oh right! Hh… just a moment,” he mumbled. He dug into his pocket inventory to produce a small envelope with the word ‘paycheck’ printed neatly on the front. He opened it to pour its contents into his outstretched hand. Out fell a small bundle of sugar packets along with a few small cubes of sugar.  He stared at the sweet substance before glancing up at Zacharie. “Will… will this cover it?”

“Goodness, you’re quite a natural with the cows,” Boggle noted upon seeing Sugar and the calf get along so easily. “Have you perhaps considered working at the um… the barns? With time you might even get a monorail station named after you, someday. Uh, maybe.”

A pair of cows approached the group, perhaps lured by the combination of curiosity for the toothy cat that held the calf’s attention and scent of sugar. One cow had the tattered remains of a tie around its neck. The cows lowered their heads near the Judge’s eye level and stared unblinkingly in a trance that could only belong to a cow.

“Ah, perhaps you may apply for a position here as well,” Boggle said to the Judge as more cows began to wander towards the cat.

"Ah..um…well, I’m gonna be honest…this is a sign of..rebellion." He lightly rubbed the end of the tie between his fingers and sighed. "I haven’t been able to sleep well since..I don’t exactly have access to a bed."

"Re...rebellion?" The word was completely foreign to Boggle. Whatever it was, it didn't sound very productive at all. After all, it caused sleep deprivation and workers to put their ties in odd places!

"Oh dear... that is quite a conundrum. Er... now that I think about it, I do recall my friend mentioning many vacancies in the Zone 3 dormitories. Perhaps... perhaps you may find residence there?"

Cinnamon looked over at the other Elsen, then a soft smile spread across his face. “Th..thanks for the help…I’ll check it out in a few minutes… Really, thank you, though.”

"Ah, no... no trouble at all. We've all had those days where we are so very... uh... enthusiastic about our careers where we may work right through the night." Boggle tilted his head, motioning towards the other Elsen's tie. "Although... this is the first time I've seen someone wear their tie like that. Did boss send out a... a new dress code?"
