No Nuance November: The reason we're seeing trans kids with less dysphoria isn't that they're transtrenders; it's that as trans acceptance progresses and trans people are better represented, kids are exposed to tons of different ways to be men and women and both and neither. Like, you're less likely to think you need to have a penis to be a "real man" if you've seen tons of real men who don't living happy, authentic lives. If you aren't forced to compare yourself exclusively to cis people, you're less likely to focus exclusively on things that differentiate you from cis people and more likely to focus on what makes you feel comfortable and seen and understood.

“Babies only cry if they are hungry, need changing, or need to be picked up”

Lies

Babies (and small children) also cry for reasons such as:

1. “I am tired and that makes me angry”

2. “I scared myself with a fart”

3. “You are the wrong parent”

4. “I ran into something with my face”

5. “I’m facing the opposite direction then the one I want to”

6. “I fell asleep in one place and woke up somewhere completely different”

7. “I am a very small person in a very big world”

8. “I got scared because YOU farted”

Babies have more then 3 states of being and sometimes you just have to hold them and bounce them gently while saying solemnly “yes it is very hard to be a baby” because frankly it is

you have to remember that when you’re that tiny… pretty much any bad thing that happens to you is LITERALLY the WORST thing that has ever happened in your life. they have no perspective. everything is awful. help them

Also, a few I’ve seen:

  • I forgot that bottles/boobs give food and now something is in my face and I’m STILL hungry
  • That thing/person/animal I wanted to examine up close is now Too Close and that’s scary
  • The approaching unconsciousness of sleep is existentially terrifying
  • Nobody mentioned that me pulling my sock off would mean I no longer also have a sock on my foot and I’m very upset about it
  • You changed clothes suddenly and I’m concerned

Me and the other prehistoric caveboys following a mammoth for three days straight without stopping, knowing that big furry bitch’s endurance is running thin

me and the other prehistoric caveboys when the landbridge we followed the mammoth on is gone and that big furry bitch stranded us on another continent

Silffred and Tamdias, my longest standing WoW OCs by far.

In story, after being together since the end of WoD, the two of them decided to get married. It happened shortly before the burning of Teldrassil, without a ceremony or guests; just the forging of simple iron bands to keep.

It might be nice to have a real wedding, wouldn’t it?...

it’s not a slur, it’s just an outdated and useless concept which tends to be used as a bludgeon or a pedestal, and both are harmful.

Copying this because some people need to read it again

*pretends to be shocked but also maybe this will make people realize that Indigenous People Know What The Hell They’re Doing and Deserve Respect*

3 other fun/cool facts about the Inuit:

1. They also invented kayaks and dog booties.

Dog booties are actually really important for working sled dogs in winter to protect their paw pads from iceburn and keep ice from getting in between their toes and burning them that way.

2. The traditional Inuit diet is one of the healthiest in the world, and the most balanced for the ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 consumption

Most modern diets consume way too much Omega 6 and not enough Omega 3.

3. Inuit is a plural noun. When speaking about a single person the correct word is Inuk (always capitalized)

For example, “This Inuk woman is wearing traditional Inuit tattoos”.

And she is wonderful

Never a bad time to remember that indigenous people are wonderful and deserve to have a good day.

Roughly 1000 of you asked: Did you lie about your age when Princess Diana died?

‘agreed’. that’s a funny way to spell ‘were forcibly removed with the alternative of painful deaths’.

propaganda

Your regular reminder that the first example is Canadian. (The clue is “first nations.”)

Much as we like to pretend otherwise, America doesn’t have a monopoly on racism, genocide, or whitewashing.

also a reminder than australian schools do not acknowledge our own history of slavery, or “blackbirding”. i had no idea 60,000 pacific islanders were kidnapped and enslaved in australia until after i graduated, because no one talks about it. and even what we do learn is watered down. the focus was always on white settlers and how they discovered land, their mapping, their dedication and their struggles; only very briefly do we get to focus on the murders they committed, the generational trauma they caused by stealing an entire generation for the sole purpose of breeding the indigenous blood out of them, the indescribable, abhorrent things they did to indigenous people.

i had to take a 20 min break before resuming the episode when i first watched this
