Shower Disks for the Signs

If you’ve seen our lovely magical shower disk recipes, then you know that we love incorporating magic into all mundane things, including the maintenance of hygiene! We also love astrology as a great way to learn about the spiritual self and enhance one’s magical potential. This is our personal list of shower disks recipes based on the signs, intended to enhance the properties of each sign.

Directions: We recommend you follow the directions included in our original shower disk recipe, but for those that prefer a more visual means of directions should look here. Use to bring out personal properties according to your natal chart, or to get in touch with the qualities of signs during celestial movements. 

Aries:          Dragons Blood oil, Ginger, Paprika

Capricorn:    Parsley, Sandalwood oil, Comfrey Root

Aquarius:      Passion Flower, Neroli oil, Sage Leaves

Pisces:          Lemongrass oil, Rosemary oil, Violet flowers

You might find your god in marble pillars and leaping bonfires. You might find Them on a trip to somewhere far away, where everything seems far more impressive simply because it is new.

Eviction implies that you can charge ghosts rent.

Generally speaking I hit them up for help when I lose things and also charge them with protecting the property, and in return they get candles burned for them and coffee offered for their spirit. 

Also, I keep the cat from running them out of the house, and in exchange, they help keep anything malevolent from moving in, and mildly harrass any neighbors who are annoying me

See? We do charge them rent. In the form of barter, to be fair, but still.

I don’t really know what people generally call this method of sigil making, so I’m just calling it “Letter Shaping” because you’re using the basic shapes from certain letters. This is the most common form of sigil making, and it allows the most creative influence. As you see above the sigils are for nearly the same thing, yet the sigils came out completely different. Not because the purpose was different, but because I approached them both a different creative way, and that’s what I like so much about this method. There’s a lot of freedom and personalization involved.

So this black sludge looking stuff is a combination of ashes from burnt herbs, sea salt, and full moon water. Blended together to create a potent, energetically packed paint for drawing symbols and charging sigils. ✨

Supermoon Wish Jars

To help harness the energy of the supermoon, or any full moon, to help your wishes come true, here’s a fun little project you can do by yourself or with your witchy friends. This also makes a nice activity for esbats that doesn’t require a lot of setup.

Materials:

Find a clear space to work. Make sure it’s free of fire hazards. If possible, try to work near a window through which you can see the moon. (If you don’t have one, that’s all right too, since you’ll be setting the jar out for the moonlight when finished.) Light your candle and choice of incense and get to work.

Select herbs and trinkets which fit inside the jar to represent your wish. For example, if your wish is for money or prosperity, you might include coins or metallic glitter or small craft gems. If your wish is for health, you might include vitamin pills or a charm representing medicine.

Check your books for herbs or crystals that correspond to your wish as well, to give the jar plenty of oomph. The contents of the jar can be whatever you want. Use the materials that resonate best with you.

Some basic herbs for wishmaking include:

Once your jar is complete, drip three drops of wax from the candle into the jar and circle the mouth of the jar three times with the incense. Then seal the jar and place the jar somewhere that it will be touched by the light of the full moon and leave it overnight.

The jar should work for about a month, or slightly longer if you’re working with a supermoon. When the next full moon rolls around, you can recharge the jar by leaving it out overnight again, or make a new jar with a new wish.

Scents associated with Hecate?

I love to incorporate scents into my practice, and I’ve been wondering what scents you generally associate with Hecate? I’ve been using a lavender scented candle for quite some time, and it worked quite well, but I’m mainly looking for inspiration to perhaps chamge things up a bit. Incense is unfortunately not an option for me in my current living situation, so I’m looking more for scented candle (or even perfume/fragrance!) recommendations. I do have a Yankee Candle shop nearby, so if there are any scents to be found there that could be useful for me? That would be amazing.

Cinnamon, myhrr, mugwart, lime, lemon (and lemon verbena), honey, “Queen of the Night” fragrance which smells kind of delicate and flowery, anything earthy/woodsy, things that have “night” or “twilight” in the name, musky things, stuff like that. Although technically all candles are associated with Hekate, so there’s that. Probably more scents out there associated with her, add em if you know em! Hope I helped!

57 ways to use candle magick

This is gonna be a spell-chart type post for candle magick. I’m gonna list a BUNCH of different intents and then colors, herbs, moon phases, planetary influences/hours, and candle shapes that all work beautifully together. Keep in mind this is not a set in stone how-to, just my grimoires list. 

You can use a candle with multiple colors or multiple different candles. You may also anoint your candle with an oil that corresponds with your intent. Inscribe your intent into your candle in Theban alphabet and inscribe any symbols/sigils you would like to use as well. I like to inscribe the planets symbol(s) as well, just cuz.
