As a kid, I never heard what Squilliam said correctly, so the best guess my brain made was that he said “I’m your boyfriend” really quickly.

Like Squilliam just locked Squidward in a relationship and hang up. King level power move.

Peter Jackson: “then you’re stabbed and go “graaahhh!” and-“

Christopher Lee: “that’s not the sound a person makes when they’re stabbed tho”

Peter Jackson: “…”

Christopher Lee: “you make a “pahh!” sound, like the air is being forced out all at once”

Peter Jackson: (thinking) ‘this guy has stabbed people. He knows the noise because he did it, he did it enough time he knows the noise a person makes’

Chirstopher Lee: *upper crust air of unaffected geniality*

Peter Jackson: “sure yeah okay”

A small correction: Christopher Lee didn't release a metal album. He released two, and 3 EPs.

GOOD NEWS! PLEASE READ!

KOSA has been delayed! It's not for too long, just until January. But this gives us more time to continue sending emails and calling. ITS WORKING! KEEP CALLING! KEEP EMAILING!

(I was alerted of this because I'm on Fight for the Future's email list)

Here's the link to continue the fight!:

And, critically, the reason that it is being delayed for a month is that Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), changed her mind on it. In November, she was not just going to vote yes but trying to get it fast-tracked. Last week, she admitted there were queerphobic problems with the bill that needed to be fixed before it could move forward.

Why do you think she's trying to fix it now? Probably because she's gotten a lot of pressure and phone calls on the subject.

This is great! It's progress in the right direction. Next step: continue the phone calls and letters, pointing out that the bill as written does nothing to protect kids, and there is no way to make a bill like it that doesn't harm LGBTQ+ folks (because the bill's sponsors have admitted that the whole POINT of it is to let them censor LGBTQ+ people) and also no way to make a bill like it that doesn't invade peoples' privacy.

So yeah. Call your senators, or write them. The EFF has resources and talking points, and if you can put them in your own words that makes you more likely to be listened to.

Fun statistical fact: Cows are about 300 times more likely to kill you than coyotes.

Minor sidenote to statistical fact: If it was common for people to keep several hundred coyotes on their property and routinely chase them into a corral and handle them, this statistic would be different.

this is a great summary of ‘conditional probability’, a statistical property many people grapple with

…I feel like this post just made me realize that both coconut trees and vending machines, items often quoted in wacky death statistics, are both things that people shake vigorously often

Development files for Yoshi's Island contain an extremely early version of the world map dated July 15, 1992, 3 years before the game's release. Another file dated July 13, 1992, contains a list of world map location names. As the files were made two days apart, it is almost certain that the location names were intended to go with that specific version of the world map, but no files showing where exactly the names would go is known to exist.

The above image represents my personal attempt to match the names with the locations. Nearly all locations marked with a dot have names that fit them extremely well (Ghost Town matches with the only town, Huge Trees matches with the only large trees etc.), as well as two locations without a dot that are situated in the sea around the island. The only location without a name is the solitary tower on top of the highest mountain.

Note that some of the names are misspelled (e.g. Dolagon instead of Dragon or Mowntains instead of Mountains), likely due to being written by Japanese developers without being spell-checked by an English speaker at that point in development.
