Anti feminists don’t care about Middle Eastern women’s oppression unless they are using it to derail conversations about western feminism
Because they’re proving a point. It isn’t there morality they’re questioning; they’re questioning your morality….
When did contradicting hypocrisy turn into the use of oppression? Many feminists, especially on Tumblr/Reddit use the identity of feminism to have personal gain. You don’t hear about Anita Sarkeesian or Laci Green protesting in Ferguson, you’ll only see them furthering their careers and will only take part in feminism if there’s some profit involved. The reason why people dislike western feminism is because of that reason alone. Feminism is a movement, and movements require action against their target, if you already didn’t know that.
What hypocrisy are you talking about? And anti-feminists often try to shut up western feminists by going ‘you don’t have problems look at them they have REAL problems’. Then they forget about it. It’s not cool to use it as a means to shut people up. That’s what I was complaining about.
Yeah people exploit feminism. That wasn’t the point of this post though and has very little to do with it.
The hypocrisy, is very obvious. Feminism is the belief that all sexes and genders are socially equal. This is the most accepted definition, but it doesn't hold up as much, as if you consider people who only use the term to either self-promote themselves, or gain profit from it. This is why people bring up the western necessity vs. eastern necessity argument. There are some self-claimed feminists who don't consider eastern or middle eastern sex or gender problems as important enough as their own. Consider me, (or yourself, if you want.) per say, person who isn't a feminist, but I'm/You're very aware of the definition of feminism. Then a feminist comes along and starts self-promoting by claiming that there are some problems. Why doesn't he or she take action instead of self-promoting? In fact, if she's/he's a feminist, why doesn't he/she support eastern gender equality? And I know it seems like it's asking for too much, but multicontinental political movements are multicontinental political movements for a reason.
