barista!luke noticing your phone screen every morning when you come in for coffee, and set it on the counter to fish out crumpled dollar bills from your wallet. there’s always a different song pumping through the one headphone you keep in your ear at all times. he scribbles the songs down on a napkin after you take your coffee and sit down, placing the other headphone in. one day he convinces his manager to let him control the music being played in the café, and he begins going down the list. whenever you walk through the door, he pushes a button and a song on your favorite playlist starts up. you don’t notice at first, your headphones in your ears as soon as your hand grasps the cup. luke is too scared to make a comment, and you are too into the amazing coffee you’re about to recieve to listen to the soft sounds that remind him of you. he continues to play your music until one day you lose yourself in his deep blue eyes, long enough to hear the song. you think nothing of it, knowing other stores have played it over their low quality intercoms as well, but now you’re actually intrigued by the man who serves you every day. immediately you went to your table and opened your laptop. you begin to leave one headphone out, hearing another one of your favorite songs. slowly, you spend more time talking to luke, and leave your headphones at home all together. you’d stay in the café until the amount of customers thinned out, he’d lean over the counter and speak to you in a hushed voice. you learned everything about luke and eventually he’d join you at your table, your order in one hand and his in the other. he’d ask you what you’ve been doing with your laptop when you’d rush to open it after you’d been caught staring at him. you blush and show him the pages of poems you had described him in. luke smiled and pulled out the napkins he had hastily written notes about you on. as you both laughed, his fingers somehow found yours, and they fit perfectly in between each other.
